Though I gave it a 5-Star, should be less until they increase dine in capacity. Can’t help giving a 5 because the food was OUTSTANDING!

Sadly this location has closed within the last two weeks sometime. I called their number and the owner answered. She said that they closed this location because it got to be too much running several locations and their other restaurant, Anna’s Oven. My family and the friends we introduced to this place are disappointed.

I’ve seen the Bizarre Foods episode from Mongolia, and thankfully at Genghis Khan you won’t find much resembling authentic Mongolian cuisine. You will find heaps of great ingredients all ready to be grilled right before your eyes. I always eat way too much when I come here but it’s just too good.

Having been to the 39th St. location several times and loving it I was anxious to check out the one in the Northland close to home and I wasn’t disappointed. For the most part they are the same, but the servers here are 5X better in my opinion. The mongolian buffet bar was outstanding and everything looked fresh, unlike the downtown location that that sometimes has stuff still froze together. I’ll most certainly be back to this great place. Me and the wife each had the buffet along with one ice tea and one Dr. Pepper and the bill was $ 26.00 so for the quality food and quality service I certainly can’t complain.

.Very rarely does a day go by where I wake up and don’t want to eat at Genghis Khan. I’m a repeat customer — hell, I’m an adamant one. If a friend asks to go out to dinner, I always inquire whether he or she was eaten here, and I’m actually surprised at the number of people who haven’t tried this delicious Mongolian restaurant. If you’re not familiar with the restaurant, you will be provided with a menu upon being seated. However, I rarely need the menu, because I select the buffet. No, this is not the regular buffet that you may be used to seeing in sketchy Chinese restaurants. It’s quite the contrary. The buffet consists of grabbing an empty bowl and speculating which fresh and raw ingredients you’d like to add. You can start with egg noodles and then add any vegetable you can imagine: onions, red peppers, green peppers, broccoli, water chestnuts, mushrooms and more. After stacking on whatever vegetables are appealing, you can move down the bar and add a variety of frozen meats: cuts of chicken, beef, pork, squid, shrimp, fish, mussels, etc. After your bowl is almost entirely filled with all of these ingredients, the final step is to add the sauces and flavors that interest you. There is a guide on the top of the bar that will recommend certain spices to add in order to create a very spicy concoction, or even a mild one. You can pour garlic water, Saracha sauce, wine, vinegar, chili water, and other various options over your self-created dish. After these decisions have been made, you take your uncooked dish up to the giant grill where an employee cooks it in front of you. After everything is thoroughly cooked, it’s scooped onto a plate and is ready for you to enjoy after it cools down. Thankfully, it’s all-you-can-eat, so if you’re interested in creating something different the next time around, it’s free of charge. However, these standards apply only if you select the buffet, which ranges from about $ 13 to $ 15, depending on whether you wish to include the seafood. There are also little desserts on a table near the bar, as well as endless crab Rangoon, spring rolls, and chicken wings. If you’re thinking about trying Genghis Khan for the first time, do it!

Me gusta Genghis Khan.

This was my first time eating at Genghis Khan. My friend and I each ordered a Boulevard Wheat upon being seated. The owner mentioned that it would be a while for the beer because there was a lot of foam and the tap wasn’t working properly. Little did we know that a little while meant upwards of 30 minutes. By the time the beer arrived, since it had been so faomy, it was subsequently flat. The owner did give us a discount on the beer, but flat beer is not worth any amount of money. The Food. The food options were good. Great selection of veggies. However, when we arrived at the meats, it was obvious that they had all just arrived from the freezer, since they were thinly sliced pieces of pork, beef, and chicken that were still frozen. I have to say though, that the food cooked up just fine, and tasted great. However, the overall experience was by no means perfect. The owner was very nice, and good to interact with. But, I will likely not be back for while, and if I have a craving for Mongolian BBQ, I will try somewhere else first.

I love Mongolian BBQ… since I love to eat a ton of veggies and find that it is difficult to get this in many dining establishments. GK had an amazing selection of veggies(from the old standbys of broccoli, peppers and onions, to edemame and portabello mushrooms, along with fresh mint and cilantro. They have 3 pricing levels – veggie, pork/chicken/beef, and then pork/chicken/beer/seafood. I stayed with the veggie, since they do have the option of tofu, and my dining companion got the seafood option. We were both very happy with the meal. You make your own sauces here out of 10 oils, juices, and waters, with some dried spice options – I would suggest using one of the recipes provided(I opted no to do so and had a little too salty and a little too spicy as a result – I still enjoyed it though, with all the veggies). All buffet options also come with rangoons(I am not going to insult you by calling them«crab» since we know that is not true in the MidWest) and delicious fried spring rolls, as well as soups, fruit, and a selection of cheesecake bites. A little something to make your healthy strifry a little less nutritious. The drink I got(Rose mojito) was refreshing… passion fruit juice with rum and mint, but did not go so well with the stir fry, so i will try something else next time I am at GK(and there will be a next time).

This place was pretty good! I came here for a team lunch and there was almost nobody inside which meant all for us. lol If you’ve never been here, then let me summarize what you will do. You grab a bowl and fill it vegetables, meat(if you want it, it’s $ 9.50 for chicken, beef, pork, etc. or $ 13 for seafood), and sauces. After that, you give it to them and they cook it in front of you. It’s all up to you on what you put in your food so if it tasted bad to you, then it was probably your fault. lol I added egg noodles, chicken, beef, and a bunch of sauces. It turned out pretty good, but I didn’t put enough for my first bowl. Of course I went for seconds to redeem myself. lol They also had huge crab rangoons as well as pretty good hot and sour soup. BTW, your clothes will smell after you eat here. Just throwing that out there. Good place for some Mongolian BBQ!

How can you go wrong when you get to pick out everything that is going into your meal? Genghis Khan has a variety of veggies ranging from water chestnuts to broccoli, along with tofu and meats including pork, chicken and beef. The make-your-own-sauces allow you to amp up the heat with chilis or keep is cool with a simple stir-fry sauce. The service has always been quick and friendly. Love their bubble tea selection — especially with the option of adding alcohol to make them into cocktails. This is a go-to in the Zona Rosa area for a quick, healthy and delicious meal.

Yum! Yum! The food is excellent! You get to create your own bowl and the meat and vegetables are very fresh! Their spring rolls are the BEST I have had in the Midwest. Elegant décor and their specialty drinks from the bar are wonderful. We frequent this place often. Every time we have been there the service is perfect, the food is impeccable, and it is a wonderfully casual atmosphere with a slight upscale flair!

I love this place! I’ve probably been here 20+ times in the past few years and anytime a new friend comes in to town, this is where I take them! You go in and can choose buffet or menu, but I always take buffet. You’re given the regular options for veggies and meats, but it’s all about making your own sauce. They have canisters like ginger water, onion oil, soy sauce, etc so you can flavor it *just* the right way. If you go during dinner there are satay sticks which are nice to nibble on. Always have a little desert tray, fresh fruit, and soups(egg drop and whatever) available. It may looks a little dark and dingy, but it has character. Never had bad service either!

I have been to this location numerous times and LOVELOVELOVEIT!!! From the décor to the Service to the Food! 5 stars! No matter how busy they get they always make sure drinks are filled and food is hot and ready. They have a great BEER/Liquor selection with fun and fancy cocktails ;-) i had a Wildberry Sangria and it was super yummy. all the way down the pineapple bits. Make sure you tip your BBQ guy. he works hard slaving over that hot stove all day. And one thing I recommend is dropping the egg in with your food bowl! Egg Foo Young! Hope everyone enjoys this place as much as i do! the one on 39th street is good too but not as good as the Northland.

Really love the food. They do a fantastic job cooking it and making sure it’s not overdone. Ingredients are very fresh and they have wonderful crab rangoon and egg drop soup. However, the last couple of times we’ve been there, the service has been less than satisfactory. We seem to get the same waiter each time and he is just not attentive, almost as if he could care less whether we like it there or not. Bad service can break a reputation, they’d be wise to put him in check.

I went here with coworkers for a team lunch and I thought it was just great. The atmosphere was nice, the food was tasty, and the service was great. There are plenty of options for food since you can order off the menu or just build the meal yourself. Lunchtime wasn’t very crowded at all until around 12:30 or so when more people starting coming in. Even then, the guys working the grill did a good job of keeping up. You could drop off your plate at the grill and munch on a couple crab rangoon or other appetizers for the few minutes you’re waiting for the food to be cooked. I would recommend at least trying this place once. I thought it was good and had something for everybody. I certainly plan on going back.

In my opinion, compared to some of the other Mongolian grills around, it is just average. Average in terms of service, freshness, and overall quality. I really tried hard to make this a better experience in my mind, but it didn’t work. I’d much rather go to Genghis Grill in the Crossroads district. Perhaps I came on a bad day? Late edit: One big plus — Crab Rangoon and soup! It’s like free for the taking! This moves it up a star.

Clean, nicely decorated. Service is great. The food looks and tastes fresh. The shrimp is packed in ice. I don’t mean they’re in a container on ice. They’re in a container full of ice. Wide variety to choose from. My wife and I got the full bbq with seafood– $ 13 at lunch, $ 15 at dinner. Very reasonable for the quality. I’ve been to a number of Mongolian barbecues, and this is one of the best. One thing unusual is that at the grill counter is a chilled container of raw eggs. If you want, you can choose 1 or 2 eggs, give them to the griller, and at the right time, he breaks them over your order on the grill. Also unusual is that a bowl of rice is $ 1. With the variety of noodles on the buffet, you might find it unnecessary. Also, if you’re watching your carbs, it’s a nice choice. You can easily eat lo-carb, no carb, vegetarian, vegan, or South Beach here. The soups are pretty good, and the appetizers are nice. I’d go back… oh, wait, we did!

This is my favorite place to eat when I come back to KC to visit my family. It’s always been a favorite of mine — even before they opened the second location in the Northland. The ingredients are fresh and varied, and the recommendations for sauces are spot on. Service is friendly and quick, value is great, and the ambiance is terrific. No other place like it!

I started lovin’ this place years ago, but lovin’ it at 39th and Bell by KU. Mongolian BBQ12.50 for Dinner, or 15.00(Seafood). The food is great. How can you go wrong when you pick out the food, and then they stir fry it? Well I suppose you could screw up the saucing, but they give you step by step directions for that too. This is Mongolian BBQ for Dummies. There’s a long buffet line of the freshest ingredients, you choose; meats, chicken, pork, shrimp, squid, scallops, etc. Just place it in your bowl, and keep building your Flava. Next comes the sauce ingredient buffet. Just follow their step by step directions, 1 scoops of this, 1 ½ scoop of that, and you’ll be just fine. Then comes the grill. Now it’s out of your hands. You just wait and watch the show. There are lots of ready made sides to go with your meal like… Crab Rangoon, egg rolls, chicken, pork or vegetarian Satay(dipping sauces), chicken wings, fresh fruit, and a dessert tray. It’s all you can eat so try many different combinations. Have it your way… it’s Genghis Khan, it’s what’s for Dinner.

If there are two things I hate, it’s buffets and foods related to the continent of Asia, but I love me some Genghis Khan. As noted above, this is the only Mongolian barbecue I have ever been to, so I can’t tell you how it stacks up against others. I generally go during lunch where you can get all you can eat for less than $ 10 before tax and tip. There’s tons of good ingredients to put in your bowl, and it’s been fun to try new things. The big platters of frozen meat make me a little uneasy though. The one time I didn’t get the chicken, I spent most of my evening recreating the buffet at home in the bathroom. The most annoying part is where you create your own sauce. First you have to keep stepping back to read what you need next to make it mild, spicy or hot. I don’t even really want to discuss the 2 foot long ladle you have to maneuver underneath the sneeze panel. Most of the time, I just end up creating something that burns the crap out of my mouth, so I don’t know why I bother to use the directions. Aside from the buffet, they have some random wings, crab rangoons, fruit platters, dessert trays and soup to pick over. I normally get some watermelon slices and egg drop soup, which closely resembles torn up Kleenex in a vat of urine. It tastes delicious though. My favorite thing about this place is that the doorknob looks like one of the talking doorknockers from the movie Labyrinth. My least favorite thing is the talkative manager who looks like she’s wearing David Bowie’s tights from the movie Labyrinth when she’s built more like Hoggle. I’d also like to give a shoutout to the waiter named Karl. Karl is the man. Ask to be seated in his section when you go. Karl is like Jennifer Connelly in the movie Labyrinth, except with a goatee… and man bits.
