I was just looking for a guitar gig bag and got a great surprise by stopping at this store. Pretty good selection of guitars, nice music art gallery. Definitely recommend it.

VERY interesting place — definitely not your typical ‘Guitar Shed’ or the like! I’m a jazzer, and love music and equipment, and I think I’m going to stop by here to drool, dream and purchase often!

YES! this is the new era, folks: a multi-purpose shop staying true to it’s theme. in this case: TUNES, bro. with a guitar store(more than ample supply of strings, pedals, etc) in front and a music-themed art gallery in the mids and a full-on recording studio(what the?) in the back, this storefront is indeed a triple threat. a BIG win for Kansas City musicians, artists, collectors and patrons.

This shop is a great addition to the Crossroads and to KC’s music and arts community as a whole. With regular art openings(an upcoming exhibition features artwork by Mark Mothersbaugh from Devo), a top-notch recording studio in the back, great customer service, an interesting, eclectic instrument selection and surprisingly affordable prices, this place is breaking the music-store mold. It’s not your typical douchey, clinical, polo-shirts-and-ponytails macho mart, but it is clean and classy and offers great values. The owners are laid back and also engaged with the community. I bought an Epiphone bass there recently, and as eBay would say, «Recommend would buy again.»

I stopped here on two different First Friday’s in the Crossroads. I wasn’t sure if it was a gallery or music store. The front of the place looks like a retail outlet, but you get to the back and there are all these custom painted guitars in large shadow boxes hanging on the wall. Turns out, this place has a little bit of everything and it all relates to music. I was in search of guitar stands last weekend and i emailed Scott, one of the owners. He emailed me back that same night and I went in to pick up the stands the next day. Scott gave me a tour which included a new recording studio in the back. I didn’t even know anything was in the back. The recording studio was built by another KC music insider– a guy associated with the Record Bar? I envy musicians. the beauty of this place is that non-musicians will not feel awkward roaming around. You can feel all rock star, even if just for a moment. Check it out next First Friday!
