Great chill place to go for a beer! Their mystery beer vending machine was a fun touch and the bartenders were amazing! Had plenty of local suggestions for us new locals. People watching was the best! What more could you want for a bar with flat screens, plenty of canned beers and a patio in front AND back! Loved this local bar, beers and staff. Order a Mystery Beer!

Popped in this charming low key lounge on a Saturday night with a group of 5. Superb start to the night! Draft beer selection is large and in charge. The meatloaf is better than your mom’s. And, they play wicked music from the past. Would highly recommend if you want to grub hard and chat about your recent travels to Aruba. The patio is legit, too, up front and on the street. Now, jump off your couch and get on the high dive.

This is one of a couple dive bars along 39th street but it’s probably the best for happy hour. I’ve ridden my bike here a couple times for a «mystery beer» and even their normal beer on happy hour is pretty cheap. Also… I admit, for a place I call a «dive bar», their food is top notch. When I need a cheap drink with my foodie friends, we always come here. They do have patio seating which is nice. I have a friend in Prairie Village and when she and I meet up for a drink, a lot of times we come here. Pretty solid little bar in a good location. Parking’s a pain as all places along 39th but thankfully, this place is far out enough from most of the shops, you can find parking in the neighborhood. This place is

This bar knows what it wants to be, and excels at it. Love coming here for Tuesday trivia, where servers Dawn and Amber single handed take care of the whole bar, and do a wonderful job. The food is much better than you would ever expect from a «dive» bar. Great neighborhood bar!

If you’re looking for a cozy little spot with a quieter atmosphere look no further than the Hi-Dive Lounge. Great spot for a meet up with friends. I haven’t tried much of their food but the beer selection is nice, the drinks are affordable and the seating is accommodating and comfortable. What more can you ask for?

I can’t speak for what it’s like here at other times of the day and the week, but I’m rather found of stopping here for their Saturday lunch special…$ 7.50 burgers and fries and happy hour Boulevard pints! The burgers are large and tasty, the fries are plentiful, and the service has always been good. I’m not sure you can beat this price anywhere nearby!

I come here whenever my friend’s and I want to go to a quick spot that is small and easy. The service tends to be pretty slow but it does get pretty packed. They have a revolving beer menu with the seasons and the prices are pretty good. It’s in walking distance to some good KC spots so I tend to start my adventures here.

Great food and the mystery beer is an awesome treat. Try the asian sticky wings and you can’t go wrong.

Spent a 100.00 dollars and left 30% to the most ungrateful staff ever. Know the owner and their other wonderful establishment. What happened here??? I am in the industry hence the tip and i thought they were just busy but when talking to the staff after paying tab they are just rude. I would never recommended this place despite the great food. Service is a killer. Never met people who felt they were owed a tip.

One of the bartenders is really rude to you unless you’re a regular. Otherwise a decent bar to hang out at for a bit but the only real novelty is the mystery beer.

The first time we walked in i loved this place and their menu was awesome and the had a nice eclectic beer menu as well as a mystery beer machine full of oddball yard beers. Based on atmosphere, food, drinks, this place is 5 stars easy. So why 3 stars? For quite possibly some of the worst service i’ve ever had anywhere. Case in point tonight i went in and sat down and read for 20 minutes without anyone noticing. When i got up to question what seemed to be the only person working in the place, the bartender, she was simply too busy to be bothered. Numerous times we’ve felt like we were just way to much of a bother for anyone to actually help us out, wait on us, refill a drink, etc. it does seem like a secret club and non-members are way down the list. Its a shame really, i love everything else i might actually join the club if the service wasn’t so awful.

My type of dive. Great wings and burgers! They also have a mystery beer for a dollar or two. Of course they aren’t craft, but they might remind of you of glorious college days :)

sub par. at least last night. went in for some royals/tigers viewing. ordered 2 beers and pretzels. my qualm: the service. unless this place is called phux and the whole role play is talking down to customers and sticking it to them, this isn’t acceptable. waitress was definitely not on top of her game, no pun intended. no napkins or utensils brought. being talked down to, negative bonus points. lots of bars on this strip, this ain’t the only one. might be a last chance opportunity IMHO. this encounter by the twilight zone part 2 was brought to you by Steigl Radlers Grapefruit malt liquor. Thank you, enjoy the show.

Hi-Dive starting hosting Geeks Who Drink trivia in October 2013, and I have been a semi-regular on Tuesday evenings for it. The service has never once been great, with waitresses who act far too entitled to things to bother with our needs/wants. Last night was the final straw, and I will not return to this establishment while waitresses who treat people like this are still employed there. I got there about 20 minutes before quiz, joined by two other friends around the same time. Two of us ordered waters and one ordered something from the bar. She brought us the drinks shortly after. This was the last we saw of her with concern to our ordering needs, despite another friend showing up who had planned to eat and drink a lot, considering she didn’t have to work the next day. My friend who did have a drink never got a chance to order more. Myself and the other friend with a water never had a chance to order anything else we possibly would have wanted. To top off the fact that we never saw her help our table again, she proceeded to help the table next to us on a regular basis. She even did a shot with them. She even sat down RIGHTNEXTTOMETOCHATWITHTHEM. There is no excuse for which a table should be denied service for over two hours, at all, period. It doesn’t matter if two of us ordered water to start with. It’s really not up to the waitress to determine WHAT we order or IFWEAREALLOWED to order anything.

Damn good burger, amazing looking chili dog. I was taken here by a friend who said they were New to the block. The staff is super friendly, the mystery beer is a fun and novel concept if you are willing to spin the roulette wheel and potentially end up with a really bazaar beer, and overall you will leave full and not in The last disappointed. I’d return without a second thought.

I love Hi Dive, and I don’t care who knows it! Hah the staff is very friendly and fun. They have a great selection of great beers on tap and they don’t seem to run out fast. They have twelve taps and a few options in the can. The tap beers are all quality though, they don’t allow space for bad beers on their tap(with the exception of rolling rock for some odd reason). When I went I had a few great craft beers and their fish and chips. The price on the fish and chips was a little high($ 14) but it was delicious and about the perfect portion. It came with 3 seemingly small but very filling fried fish, 3 delicious hush puppies, a tin cup of fries, two lemons, ketchup, and tartar sauce. It was worth it. They have a vending machine as well with cans of Hams, Old Style, Stag, Pabst Blue Ribbon, and two rows of mystery beers. I haven’t seen a decent beer come out of the mystery column yet, mainly natty or something similar but I believe the others are also included in that mystery column. Get out of the house and get over here, the whole district is great(39th West) but this place shines.

A group of us decided to check out the soccer game at Hi Dive. I am glad this was the choice of viewing places. I first have to give a shout out to our server. I made a point to ask her name and wrote it on my receipt so I could give her a kudos and a week later I have no clue what I did with the receipt. :(She seemed to be taking care of everyone except those sitting at the bar. The place was packed and she had many customers to take care of. I have to say, I was really shocked at what a great job she did with as many people she was caring for. Drinks did not sit empty without her offering a refill. We placed orders at different times and she quickly handled the requests and brought the food. Owners take note, you have an amazing server, make sure you take care of her! We all had various things, the roast beef was my choice, a couple had the BLT, another chose a burger, we all picked various sides. Everyone was happy with their choices. Personally, the beef was delicious. Nice and tender with a perfect jus for dipping. The sandwich also had a small amount of diced red peppers and carrots. This made an impact on me. It added just the perfect amount of flavor and crunch, but was such a small amount they didn’t overwhelm the sandwich at all and the beef was still the star. I had a salad with me sandwich. A simple spinach salad with bacon and wonton strips. It was very lightly dressed in what seemed to be just lemon. Dressed just a touch heavier would have been great as not all of the spinach had that bit of taste. The only thing keeping me from giving that last star is the whiskey sour. They were not bad by all means, but they were far from better ones I have had. The«sour» just tasted odd, almost cheap. Prices are great. The sandwich, a good sized dinner salad, and two drinks came in under $ 20. If you like a good neighborhood bar, Hi Dive is it!

I loved Hi Dive my first visit. And I still love it now. Upon opening, I felt that it filled a void(for me) that I could not seem to quite explain in regards to neighborhood spots, and«dive bars» that I remember from days past. Some of the old spots still exist. But they have lost their charm for me for whatever reason. OR I have just evolved to a person who has very specific needs when going out, like that there be chairs to sit in, an outdoor option, as well as(most importantly for me) FOOD. Hi Dive meets all of those criteria. It is a comfy little neighborhood spot, with a good vibe. It feels more ALIVE than other bars of similar style that I once frequented — but now find them to be depressing. And I think that is it. The energy here is more alive. There are windows. People are not just drowning their sorrows, and feeding their habit. They are socializing, conversing, supporting their favorite sports team, drinking, AND maybe even eating. Novel concept for those who drink socially vs due to alcoholism. It really IS a good idea to EAT if you are drinking. And for me, eating every 3 hours is mandatory, so I strategically pick locations that offer food. Hi Dive has a great menu, too. I would go as far as saying, it’s way beyond a bar menu. They have a salad there that I actually crave. I don’t crave salads normally either. Everyone I have eaten there with has been happy with their selection. If you are looking for a place to meet up with friends, or a pre-bar location to discuss the next move, this is your place. If you are looking for dinner… still your place. If you are wanting to catch a college basketball game and grab a beer & some food… again still your place. And if you are a smoker, or simply want to be outside to enjoy your beverages, Hi Dive has a small but ample front patio area facing 39th St. I just feel comfortable here, and am thrilled to have a place where there is no attire requirement, affordable food and drink options, and options to really accommdate everyone in your group.

The food is ridiculously good!!! …and it keeps getting better each time we go back. Our table of 6 raved about the following: the wings, tacos, sandwiches and french fries. I split the roast beef sandwich and the Ruben with my buddy. The sandwiches are great and special in their own High-Dive-ish way(pickled vegetable mix situation on the roast beef and perfectly grilled Ruben). YUM! It is, however, a wee bit pricey. It will be worth the splurge once in a while! The MYSTERYBEERMACHINE is the funnest thing since… well, the most fun thing you have probably done all week at a bar! $ 2.50– guarantees you a beer or a soda(the soda is gold– I will keep that nugget a real mystery until it happens to YOU). Maybe it is a beer you have never heard of before or maybe it is the highest quality beer that comes in a can! It is a real gamble! It is a super great time, especially if you like your mystery with a side of reward!
