Lew’s Grill & Bar

Best service I have had in a while in Waldo. I live and work and Waldo and work late usually, and don’t usually get a chance to go out. Our bartender Paige was awesome talkative, and very down to earth.

Walked in on a Saturday night. Waited and waited to be served. Table after table came in and subsequently left. The servers were sitting at the end of the bar with their friends taking shots and not helping anyone and nobody seemed to care. No wonder this place was slow. To many bars in this area. Don’t waste your time and patience on this place. On to the next.

I used to really love going to Lew’s but I had a really bad experience there tonight. There was a group of waitresses at the bar drinking, one being our waitress. When our waitress took our order, my friend and I ordered Strongbow, which had always been on tap there. And the waitress said that they no longer carried that… We asked for other cider options, since we are both allergic to Gluten. And for some reason, this seemed to upset her. She then went back to her friends at the bar where they very loudly began making fun of us… Taking pictures of us with their phones. (Kinda creepy and weird to be honest) Our waitress stayed at the bar most of our time there while we ate, although we were kinda afraid to eat or drink anything because we felt like they may have done something to our food since they kept staring a taking photos. Seriously, who does that? They went on to take some shots while other patrons were walking out because no one was serving them. It was a really weird experience… And sadly, I won’t be coming back here again.

We like to eat local and decided to eat at Lews after seeing a movie at Ward Parkway. I had the BLT, my husband had a Patty Melt and our friends both had the special, a steak wrap. It was the worst meal we have had in a long time: bacon was grossly undercooked, steak was tough and my husband’s sandwich was rare as well. The farm to market bread was good. They were out of a beer on tap. Server was nice. Booth very odd structure. We won’t return. Ate at Lew’s on May 28^th.

My California salmon sandwich tasted great. I liked the variety of sandwich and side options on the menu. It was nice to see «seasonal fruit» listed. The service was cheerful, friendly, and attentive. Very nice.

Absolutely hit the mark for what we were looking for: great burgers, low-​key but excellent service. The zucchini fries were a huge hit, as was the $ 5 spicy bloody mary. Will be back!

The atmosphere was perfect for my wife and I we like laid back not too loud but still an adult environment. Holy guacamole chx style was amazing. Could have used more guacamole. Leaves you feeling kinda ripped off but nevertheless still awesome. Servers were great gave space but still took care of us. Overall a great place just feel like its over priced for what u get. $ 9 for a small dish of Espinaca dip is a bit excessive.

I have been a loyal Lew’s customer since they opened and have never been so disappointed as I was yesterday. I came up to watch the first Chiefs game of the season, as I have done many times, and experienced more problems than ever. First, they didn’t even have the game on. When the manager finally changed the channel, we got to watch the last minute of pregame before the screens went black because that channel wasn’t going to show the game. They got it figured out after kickoff and things went pretty smooth until halftime. They changed the audio at the half to the Chicago vs Green Bay game, but failed to change it back when the second half started. Upon asking for the sound to be changed back, the manager informed us that the owner was marketing this place as a Green Bay bar. That was great for the four Green Bay fans and six Chicago fans, but not so great for everyone else. I went to another establishment for the second half and shared my experience with the owner. He laughed and thanked Lew’s for my business.
Bottom line, if you’re a Chiefs fan, plan your Sunday elsewhere. If you’re a Green Bay fan, you’ll get to listen to the second half of your game.

Let me start by saying after reviewing my fellow Unilocal reviewers, I was not expecting 5 star service, but ended up pleasantly surprised that I got 4 stars which is fine with me! We started off with our free spinach dip for checking in on Unilocal.Thanks Unilocal!I then ordered the Wednesday special $ 9.99 Strip Steak with fries and added a gorgeous side salad with an amazing homemade ranch dressing for an extra $ 3.99, I was a little disappointed that the steak was on top of my fries making some fries mushy, but I’ll remember next time to ask for them on the side. The steak was the best strip steak I have ever had, it was seasoned perfectly and topped with a butter garlic sauce. My son ordered the nacho appetizer, it was so big he couldn’t finish it all, but thoroughly enjoyed it. The service was quick, and our server was friendly enough, but I noticed my server playing around with other servers, and never once asked me how my food was. Overall I will be back for that glorious Steak!!!

Nice little sports bar. Would have never thought to stop until I saw the Unilocal reviews.
Royals game was on which made this place packed.
Fried pickles are top notch here. I get them everywhere I go so I feel justified saying these are in my top 3 in my many stops.
Burger was pretty good. Cooked to perfection. They have many different options to make everyone happy.
We sat at the bar and got excellent service. Even though it was packed, bartender found time to chat and make friendly small talk.

I really enjoyed this place. Good prices. Really good burgers and a good amount of food (by that, I mean there wasn’t too much or too little). They carry some local beers. If you want a burger in a bar atmosphere, this is the place! It is a little tight for space, but I expected this much. Will definitely be going back.

Das BOOT! Honestly I am a little shocked I hadn’t written a review for this place yet. The food that I have tried has always been fresh and tasty, and you can’t be splitting a boot with some friends. Yes, they hold your card as ‘deposit’ in case the boot gets broken. or mysterious walks away, as im sure thats been an issue. Either way, the service has always been great, and its a nice drinking hole.

Not your average bar food fare here. No sir. They are creative with their menu. Had their spinach dip/​nachos and that was the only real disappointment.
I had the turkey burger which was moist. Lots of turkey burgers can be dry. I love how they make their fries. They also offer perch. How many bars can do that?
To finish try the funnel cake fingers. It’s like being at a classy state fair.
The wait staff tried to keep up. It was a busy night. Maybe go on a non game night.

This place is amazing! Went here for my first time yesterday. Didn’t know what to order but ended up ordering the black and bleu burger. All I can say is it’s amazing!!! Would highly recommend to anyone. Had SOOO Much flavor and also was very filling! 5 stars for this place! It’s also fun to look at all the old time pictures hanging on the wall while you wait for your food!

This is a nice sports bar, many TV’s and none had the Guiding Light on them! The food was very good, with drink specials and half price appetizers until 7:00 pm. The food we had was good, hot, and served with a smile. O’Dano has been going there for over 30 years and the Tenderloin sandwich is still as good as when he used to take his Mom there

Lew’s is my favorite of the Waldo neighborhood bars. The wait staff is great, they have a decent beer selection, and the menu is extensive for a bar & grill. Plenty of TVs and a fun trivia night on Wednesdays.

Not bad. Not blown away, but not bad.
Don’t get me wrong, depending how you feel about «average» bar food, this place may be outstanding.
My definition of «average» may not match up with yours.
Wondering if I can find yet another way to say this place is probably worth of try?

Decent hamburger. .m but I have had a lot better.
I am not trying to be a downer but I personally don’t care for their burger or necessarily the fries, I’m sure if you live in the area and this is what you are used to then great, but it doesn’t even scratch my top 10
But let’s be realistic it’s a bar that serves food not a restaurant that has a bar.
The waitress absolutely nice and attentive. Will I be back… for drinks yes but not for the food

Burgers! I love ‘em. I also love it when you can choose to have zucchini fries instead of regular fries. You get a lot of em too. You can pick your burger bun… and that’s pretty sweet. The round burger didnt fit perfectly with sourdough bread… But i’m willing to bet the pretzel bun is a real winner.
I’ve already decided to get the hotdog next time… so many toppings to choose from…
They have a lot of options on the menu and the fact they are open late makes them much appreciated.
I gotta say that the entrance/​smoke patio is pretty disappointing. I know that’s hard to regulate but ick. Just hold your breath and make a run for it.

I was pleasantly surprised at Lew’s. It looks small and dumpy from the outside, but it is a pretty good size as the restaurant is pretty deep and offers quite a bit of seating. Hubs and I went here for the burger deal. I got «the lew» and he got the black and bleu. We were both very happy with our meals and we also had the guacamole dip as an app. It lacked a bit of seasoning though, but it was fresh and good. We added salt and that helped a lot. I definitely think we will go back. Our bill was probably the cheapest we’ve had in a long time! The waitress was incredibly nice and helpful and happy! There is not much worse than a grumpy waitress, so A+ for the wait staff! Our food didn’t take long either. We had a good time!
