I won an auction basket from Perfect Scents a few months ago. Seriously… it contained a plethora of the COOLEST stuff! Everything from soaps(that looked like a big quartz chunk), to scented body powders, hand creams, countertop sprays, lotions, candles and more! This place is hidden on Main Street just south of Spin Pizza so it’s kind of obscure if you’re just driving by. Basically anything with a scent can be found here! A really nice scent that will be hard to find at your normal big box store. Definitely a very niche boutique. It’s also a great place when searching for a unique gift for a friend, mom, mother in law or teacher!

This place is local flavor through and through. I saw the owner on a local news channel showcasing Christmas ornaments that were made from retired bulbs used for The Plaza Lights. I went to her shop and got a Royals and a Chiefs ornament. I thought they were so cool that I then ordered 4 more custom ornaments with our names and marked for each year we’ve lived in Kansas City(2011 – 2014). When I picked those 4 up, I then custom ordered one for a family member and paid for Perfect Scents to ship it out to Florida. The plan was 2 day shipping, so it could end up on their tree for Christmas this year. Perfect Scents emailed me a shipping confirmation and tracking number. The package did not make it in time. It took 9 days instead of the Priority 2 days that was paid for. Please note that the shipping problems had nothing to do with Perfect Scents… it was all USPS. Gotta love that wobbly government wheel turning slowly for a cruise down Inefficient Blvd. When I called Perfect Scents to track my package, they were right on it and emailed me proof of delivery to a postal locker in Florida. I’m not sure why USPS didn’t deliver it to their house, but whatever, they did indeed finally get their ornament. Bridget was a gem to deal with from beginning to end each time we made contact with her. It really takes someone with a deep love for Kansas City to go through the trouble she did to obtain the retired bulbs and then make such beautiful holiday keepsakes out of them. She also gave us samples of her scented oils each time we went to her shop. If you like to support local businesses, then this place is well worth you going out of your way. I will be back again for a new ornament every year. This is a great place with great local owners at the helm. Two thumbs up!

I made a scented lotion once at a place in Columbia, MO and had wondered where you could do that here. Low and behold! I am thrilled to have found this little gem! Absolutely wonderful gifts for women, and they also have mens scents too! I can’t wait to return! I was with hubs and he isn’t as fond of shopping as women are. Ask to smell the pink martini oil. It’s blissful!!!

Great local business with amazing homemade beauty products and oils/perfumes. Try the Oatmeal Complexion Bar, the zit zapper, glycolic skin-balancing moisturizer… they will even add the scent of your choice to products like shampoo, body oil, etc. The prices are incredible and the help from the owner is always personal and warm. I’m a new devotee to this local gem.

This place is cozy and charming and awesome for gifts. I go in whenever I’m not sure what to get someone; inevitably something inside will catch my eye or my nose. Also, the candles they sell are super strong — not the kind where the scent wears off after two or three uses. I do wish they had more of a variety of essential oils, but the selection is really not bad. Can’t wait to go in and get a custom perfume mixed as soon as I have time to dither and deliberate.

I debated writing a review of this place… on the one hand, I wanted to keep it my secret, but on the other, I’d be devastated if it closed. This store has the most amazing collection of gift cards. I always stop here for cards, both fun and touching, because I know no one else at the party will have the same one. You know what I’m talking about — like when two aunts give you the same Chimpanzee saying«Happy Birthday, Go Ape!» My last purchase was a birthday card for a friend — it had a portrait of 18th century ladies on the front and said«Behind every woman is a group of bad-ass bitches» while the inside said«who will force you to celebrate your birthday.» So funny, and everyone at the party loved it. I also bought three cards from there a while back that I have framed in a cluster in my apartment. Cheap art! The sign outside says«Perfumery,» not Perfect Scents. They also sell a lot of organic, storemade soaps, perfumes, lotions, candles, etc. It’s across from the CVS.

Bummer! After perusing their website I FINALLY found a clay face mask that I had been looking for over 6 months. I traveled five hours with my husband for a business trip so that I could buy the item listed on their website. I inquired about the item to a female employee and she rather rudely told me that they hadn’t carried that item for over a year. After telling her that it was still on their website, she was unapologetic. Please. In the 21st century, businesses should strive to keep their websites updated. Thanks for nothing, I will not be back!
