Have been going to «the Cabin» for years with Dr Mingos. I live in Parkville now and 11 years still feel like it is worth the drive! Julie is an awesome hygienist and Dr Mingos is wonderful!

I absolutely love coming here! The place is shaped like a cabin and the waiting room are super cozy. Each room has a skylight and a TV. Although all of that is nice, it’s the staff that makes it a wonderful experience. I had almost completely knocked my lower tooth out of my mouth and Dr. Jana helped save it. I am extremely grateful for their staff and will continue to go here for as long as I live in Kansas City. Not only are they open on Saturdays, but they will also send you appointment reminders via email where you can confirm the appointment.

I’ve been coming here for several years and they are great. I never have to wait for my appointment and the dental care is excellent. I used to hate going to the dentist — even for a cleaning. Now I’m never in any pain and the appointments are easy. I highly recommend Julie for your cleanings — she’s warm, friendly and very thorough (but never causes even the slightest pain!). I actually look forward to my appointments because of Julie!

My first visit was prompt and efficient. The staff were great (great hygienist and dentist). Everyone was so warm and welcoming. The staff were so knowledgeable and they paid particular attention to your specific needs. The hours are great and parking is very convenient for the West Plaza location. I highly recommend this dental practice to anyone. I’m a first time mom, 5 months pregnant and they took care of my specific needs and explaining things that were particular to my pregnancy. So glad I came. Again, did I mention the great hours?

Been a patient since around 2007, when I lived near the plaza, and keep coming back even though I now live out in Olathe. Evening and Saturday hours are a huge bonus! Two thumbs up!

I have been going to the Mingo’s Dental Office for over 11 years now. I was referred there since back then there wasn’t any reviews to look at or available like this now days.
Basically, it is the one practice that my whole family can agree on. I, my son, daughter, wife, ex-​wife (& we don’t agree on anything), my Dad, heck you name it. If you want to keep your teeth and they matter to you, this practice is it. They are open Saturday’s as well, which is great for taking both kids at the same time. They do high end implant for my Dad who is a wonder man, but can be high maintence and they can handle him.
They take many insurances in network and I think they take about everything even if it’s out of network. They file it for you with the insurance company and make it easy. Office lady is Peggy.
I will say that I do have my favorite hygienist, Julie and she is excellent. If my mouth didn’t have to stay open I would fall asleep. Some of the other hygienist are good, keep changing hygienist till you get the one you are most comfortable with
I hope this helps, they are conveniently located to get to from anywhere in the city as well.

I just had my first cleaning and check up with Dr. Micah yesterday. The staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I love that they have Saturday hours; it’s been hard finding a dentist with weekend hours.

Great place for a dentist. I moved to KC about 3 years ago and wasn’t sure where to setup dental care. Mingos cabin was blocks from where I live and on Delta Dental. Not only was it close, but I couldn’t be happier with the staff there. Dental rooms are great too because every exam room has a TV/​remote during the exam. Wait times are a minimum. Scheduling is rather easy as well!

I don’t like going to the dentist, but I know it’s important.
This is the best dentist office I’ve been to. They do good work, practice the latest dentistry, and are easy to work with.
Just do it. The sooner the better.

I have had two different negative experiences at different dentists in different cites — rude staff, dentists who used my mouth to finance their children’s college education.
This office is completely different. The hygienists are thorough and gentle, the dentists communicate clearly and work with you to make sure they are meeting your needs. I’m very happy with my experience!

My first experience at The Cabin was wonderful. Check-​in took a little bit longer than I expected but my hygienist was fabulous. She did a great job and didn’t hurt me at all. She did not try to push any unnecessary services or make me feel uncomfortable about my teeth (the way another Plaza clinic did). Dr. Mingos was very friendly and the prices at the office were reasonable. I love them and feel like I finally found my long-​term dentist in KC.

I didn’t go to the dentist for a LONG TIME. I don’t want to tell you exactly how long, because it’s slightly embarrassing. And it wasn’t because I couldn’t afford it, or anything like that. It was just that, after so long away, I figured that there would be a ton of stuff to do and I didn’t want to invest the time (well, and technically the money too, I guess).
That was stupid of me.
But then I atoned for my stupidity by finding an awesome dentist: Dr. Mingos and Friends, or whatever this place is called. (I’ve never actually seen Dr. Mingos – he may or may not even be real. I go to Dr. Beard and he is outstanding.)
I started going here in April of last year because I was having constant headaches and toothaches (I’d never had a toothache before – they’re pretty awful). I thought it had something to do with my front teeth (that’s the science name for them). Turns out – even though I didn’t initially believe the diagnosis – it was the pressure from my WISDOM teeth causing the pain. See, I’d had the wisdom teeth basically in and through the gums for quite a while, so the fact that they were JUST NOW causing these other problems didn’t make sense. (Note: the dentist is much smarter about your teeth than you are).
So Dr. Beard said, «we’ve gotta take those out, posthaste!» (I don’t think he said posthaste – he’s like, 30 years old.) But he DID say, «we can either do it here – you’ll take a pill but not be out, or we can schedule you with an oral surgeon at a hospital, and they can put you under.» Since I was deciding to establish a relationship with this new dentist, I said, «you do it, doc!» And the next thing I know, he’s wrestling four of my wisdom teeth out while I looked at the ceiling and tried not to concentrate on the sawing and ripping sounds. But I swear to God, it didn’t hurt a bit and it went very, very well.
And from that April day, I began this sick sort of regiment with the office.
I went back for two sessions of root scaling and gum planning, whatever the hell that is.
I went back once for a cleaning.
I went back for another cleaning.
Oh, I had THREE sessions where I got 6 cavities filled.
Another cleaning.
By the end of the year, my insurance was maxed out and I was paying out of pocket. But since my insurance is really, really good, I still only spent a grand total of like, $ 500 there last year. For ALL of the stuff I mentioned. NOW THAT’S WHAT I CALL SAVINGS.
The great thing is that everyone there is crazy-​friendly. It’s casual, too, because it’s in a log cabin, AND they have fantastic hours for a dentist’s office. They have two nights during the week where they’re open until 7pm, and they’re open for 8 hours on Saturday, I think. That’s accessibility, and that’s what initially sold me.
These guys do great work. If you’re in need of a dentist, I’d HIGHLY suggest checking them out. They’re in a log cabin – what more could you possibly want?

Best dentist experience ever! Great facility and very friendly staff.

I recently had my first appointment at Steven C Mingos, DDS, and was very pleased with my experience. My dental hygienist, Staci, was really nice and skilled and Dr. Mingos was friendly and explained my treatment clearly. The office is super cute – almost home-​like. While no one exactly looks forward to going to the dentist, I am happy to say I will be going back to Dr. Mingos in the future.

I’ve seen many, many dentists in New York and Kansas City. I’ve found that the majority of the dental techs perform a very quick, somewhat incomplete cleaning.
But the dental techs at Mingos do a very deep down, through cleaning job
– which has greatly reduced the creation of cavities. To me this is a very big deal
when selecting a dentist.

Couldn’t ask for a better dentist. After moving to KC a couple years ago I was not looking forward to trying to find a dentist among many other things. Luckily I was referred here and had to look no further. This place is a great example of efficiency. There is always minimal waiting time and the hygienists and Dr. Mingos make you feel right at home in ‘The Cabin’. I am in and out in no time.

I’ve been back to see my friends at «The Cabin» a number of times now for cleanings, exams, XRays and Zoom! Whitening. I’ve only encountered fantastic folks in the office — from the hygienists and dental assistants to the staff!
The Dentist’s chair gave me serious anxiety before I found «The Cabin». The first day I entered Mingos and Associates I was met with warm and welcoming arms!
I’ve been back for cleanings every six months and enjoyed (before I was a patient here would have endured) 2 hours (at once) with my mouth wide open in the dental chair preparing for and having Zoom! Whitening performed.
Most importantly my smile looks and feels cleaner, whiter and more fantastic than ever!
Weirdest thing ever? I’m very much looking forward to my 6 month cleaning next Friday!

I have been to Dr. Mingos once for a 6mo cleaning and I will definitely be returning. What I liked most was how informative and friendly they were through the whole process. From the time I made my appointment, to checking in and filling out paper work, to the dental hygienist, to the doctor. I hate the dentist but the staff here made me feel more at ease. It is a much more relaxed environment.
I had several questions for the hygienist and she took the time to explain things in a way I would understand. They show you your x-​rays on a tv so you get a great visual. She was also helpful when I asked questions about what my insurance would cover (x-​rays, etc). When Dr. Mingos came in to take a look he was very attentive, unlike many dentist when they come in for a 15 second look and are on their way.
I would say customer service and a friendly staff is the main reason they are great. I recommend them to anyone, especially if you hate the dentist! An added bonus, they offer a referral for you AND the person who referred you, $ 50 to each of your accounts!
