Me and 5 of my friends came to celebrate 4 birthdays and we had a really terrible experience. Our reservation wasn’t even on the list and we still had to wait during a Saturday night dinner rush. We got sat at a table in a section that wasn’t being serviced. We had a friend show up late and our server kept asking if we wanted to place our order before he even arrived. Even after we told her more than once that we were waiting on him. We finally got drinks and ordered appetizers and then we’re surprised when our entrees arrived with no appetizers. We decided to cancel our appetizers without even an apology. The food was subpar and not worth the awful service we received. They brought out 1 ice cream for 4 birthdays and it took forever to get our checks. Then I paid with cash and waited forever for $ 4 in change while our server walked the floor. I finally approached an manager about our awful service without an apology or attempt to resolve our experience. I don’t plan on coming back and am I satisfied with our experience.

Good Sushi. Really good considering it is a chain. We really enjoy the Red Dragon, Hurricane and Caterpillar. Live near by and come here almost once a week.

This was my second time at Stix. The first time, we had sushi. It was definitely enjoyable, but I didn’t feel it really stood out. This time, we were met with a busy lobby on a Friday night, and were invited by a birthday party group to fill out their 2 missing people for their reservations for 10 for hibachi service. It was a long wait on a Friday night for hibachi, but it was well worth it. Their onion soup and ginger salad were the best I’ve had at a hibachi. This was followed by a very skilled chef who made a very good show of cooking up our meals, putting the chefs at nearby tables to shame with his skills. Our food was delicious, both from his skill with the grill and the quality of the ingredients evident as they were thrown down onto the teppanyaki. I do feel it deserves mentioning that the table next to us had a chef who appeared to be much newer to hibachi, as he was a little clumsy with the showmanship, so my experience may not be universal. I definitely think next time I want hibachi Stix will be high on my list.

I stopped in to try this place since I was in the area. Once seated the guy taking our order was amazing! He was very polite and kept us laughing. He brought appetizers and drinks out very quickly and once our cook arrived he definitely kept us entertained! Great experience and food was delicious!

The Kung Pao Chicken and Sushi are wonderful here and so is the service. We came early to avoid a big crowd. I will be back for a third visit and try the hibachi. Yum!

We ate at the hibachi table. Lawrence was the name of our chef and he was great. He was friendly, funny, entertaining and a really good chef. Food tasted great. We had the ribeye and a spicy shrimp roll.

The restaurant is located outside of the Mall. The service was very well. Place is casual and good for family or groups. The food was okay.

Stix is located in the legends, which has several dining option, but stix is worth a try. A small bar greets diners, with a sushi bar off to the right, general dining off to the left, with two areas of hibachi grills. I will start by saying I’ve only eaten lunch here, and only sushi. The lunch menu offers the usual specials, a choice of two rolls and soup or salad for $ 11. I’m not sure if this is a fair overall assessment, but the lunch special rolls are average, run of the mill offerings. I had the California roll and the spicy shrimp roll, both were fine, nothing special. My buddy had the spicy shrimp toll and the spicy crab roll, he found both very tasty and enjoyed them. As someone that eats sushi a couple times a week, I was not expecting an outstanding meal, as the tasty rolls generally show up at night. Based on the size of the crowd, stix must be serving good sushi, as the place wS pretty crowded…

The only reason they got two stars is because the hostess was very nice and the server was prompt. I ordered a bowl of onion soup, a side salad with ginger dressing and a shrimp tempura roll. Onion soup: typical. Good taste. Missing the fried onion Salad: they use cheap iceberg lettuce and the ginger dressing was mixed with mayo. I’m guess that’s the way they stretch it to get more product??? Roll: they did not use a freshly fried tempura shrimp. The roll was very cold. At the end the server came to collect for the bill. My bill came to $ 15.00. I gave her a twenty and she asked me if she should keep the change. Umm no sweetheart and this is why I’m taking back a star. You did nothing that spectacular to deserve a tip greater than 20% and the kitchen should have given me fresh shrimp. Not one that had been sitting for a while. I mean damn, they could have microwaved the thing to make me think it was fresh.

We’ve only been once and did the hibachi which was fine but for the price it isn’t anything impressive. The dumplings were great however and the food good enough we wouldn’t be opposed to going back but will be in the regular dining area to check out other parts of the menu.

Went in for lunch on a monday at 1230. It’s currently 1:03 haven’t got our waters yet. This California roll I’m trying to eat is dry and I can’t tell if it’s crab in here or some blah chopped up fish. It’s awful. I’m hoping the lunch wok I ordered is edible. This place is Bad.

We went in for hibachi and the show was indeed fun. However all I felt I ate was soy sauce dredged food. From the rice to the steak and scallops all I tasted was the soy sauce– was just too salty!

Yes this place is located right outside the mall. However, once you step in, the atmosphere changes. Nice cozy and chic setup. They serve both traditional Japanese food as well as Americanized asian food. It works really well. Given the price, location and ambiance, this is a good place to spend when the Sporting KC game gets rained out. Good for a group of friends and good for the family!

The Red Dragon Roll was really tasty but $ 13. The Spicy Tuna roll was bland and I think $ 8. With tip, I paid $ 25 for two mediocre rolls. That is a lot for KCK fancy eating. I hate to say it, but since this is KC and real fresh sushi is nowhere to be found, I would rather go to RA or Kona for HappyHour, or Sushi Mido for lunch special. My friend loves the ginger salad and buys the dressing. Service is just OK. The workers seem kind of sad to be there, and I would like more professionalism. I find this typical at The Legends, though. Western Wyandotte County probably has nowhere else for sushi, so I will probably go there again sometime when meeting up with one particular sushi-loving friend.

I have a lot to say here. First of all, I planned a month in advance for my niece’s birthday. I made a reservation for 15 people like 3 weeks before I even got to town. We still had to wait almost an hour to be seated. What’s the point of making a reservation then? Our table was outside of the kitchen, so you could see back there. It was kind of filthy and messy. The bathrooms were filthy The beer was served luke warm. The pluses are, the customer service was great. They did a great job managing a party of 15 and also did a great job helping us celebrate the birthday. It was very interactive and everyone had a great time. The hibachi shrimp, steak and fried rice were good. I will go back. It’s not the best hibachi I’ve had, but it wasn’t bad. They just need a little operational improvement like regular bathroom and kitchen cleaning, managing reservations better and making sure beer is served cold

Wifey likes sushi but i don’t like cold rice. I really love the Ginger Salad here. Too bad they don’t sell the dressing cuz I’ll take a case please. Had the Teriyaki with chicken today and it was real good. Also had the fried rice. Why is the fried rice here so good. I asked and was told it was onion. Gotta be something else but damnnnnnn it’s good. Had the sampler appetizer with bang bang chicken, dumplings and crab Rangoon. Very good. Ok about the wait staff. Every dang one of them was sooooo nice and polite. Never had an empty glass. Smiles everywhere.

We had a girls night out at this restaurant. We usually go to RA Sushi for our midnight sushi cravings but since we were in the area, we thought to give it a try. We sat at the bar as there was a huge waiting line for table or hibachi seating. We ordered Vegas Rolls, Shrimp Rolls, Crab Wontons, and Salad. The whole food was average. I won’t say it was wow if you compare it to other sushi places in KC. Overall, we had a good experience!

Had the honey crispy with shrimp lunch special… I thought it would be similar to honey walnut shrimp but was disappointed. One thing I noticed… When the waiter showed up and took our order, he had his hands in his pockets. Kinda weird…

Stix is one of our favorite places in KC. We started going when it opened and we lived an hour away. We have sat in the hibachi room once, and it was a great experience. I like that you can sit in the main dining area and still order from the hibachi. We have had so many different things, and it has all been delicious. Everything is always fresh. The portion sizes are good. The waitstaff always seems to be knowledgeable, accommodating, and pleasant. The birthday song they perform is one of the best… along with a Japanese drum. Once we went in after my son’s soccer team won a tournament. We shared the news without our waiter, and later they came out with the drum and made a big deal of it. He even got the free dessert as if it was his birthday. It made his day! Although we rarely order the same entrée… we have to add the Dynamite or Las Vegas Sushi Roll… and sometimes both. Other sushi we have had was amazing, and always fresh and well presented. Stix is definitely a place to check out if you are at The Legends… it is also worth a drive if you don’t plan to be in that area.

I am not a sushi fan, nor seafood. However, I had the crunchy(or crispy?) Shrimp roll and the veggie roll. I was especially fond of the veggie roll. I have only had sushi from the Hyvee in Mission, so Styx was a huge step up. My fiancé and i shared the appetizer sampler, which included bang bang chicken(that was new, and so good) dumplings, and crab rangoon. by far, the best rangoon i have had. I then had the general chu with chicken. Crispy, moist, rice was cooked well. Flavorful with a spicy kick. We ended the night with dessert — the apple wontons! It was OK. Not very sweet, and wasn’t warm at all. I think if they could work on the recipe a bit, it would be great. As of now, until i am to find another restaurant with even better sushi — this is my go-to place. Oh, i forgot about the egg drop soup. SO delicious. Chicken, shrimp, mushrooms, tomatoes… seasoned and hot. Amazing. Made my night.(No more 90’s crockpot egg drop soup from Aloha Chopstix!)
