The steak was perfectly cooked, tender and very well seasoned. Probably the best steak I’ve had. The atmosphere second to none. Service provided by my waitress Amy was attentive and friendly and spot on. I will definitely make this my go to spot when I’m in town. In a word… awesome.

Came here for dinner at suggestion of hotel. What a great steak! Had the Majestic and my lady had the KC strip. Both outstanding. Don’t forget the bread pudding for dessert! Nice classic steakhouse full of old classic charm.

We came here for brunch on a saturday… food was awesome, drinks equally as delicious. We had a wonderful waitress who did a great job and got to listen to the piano playing in the background. We loved it and had such a great experience we definitely plan to return!

Sunday Brunch. Waited 65 minutes after ordering for food, which was average to very good quality among nine of us. Great historical setting for a restaurant, but they need to work some on the food prep and delivery side, at least for brunch.

I was hyped up for the live jazz but we got there too early and didn’t want to stick around for it to start but we still had a good time at the bar before heading to the next destination. Happy hour is cheap for sure($ 5 wine or Martini and $ 3 beer). Bar tender was friendly and even recommended ordering food in the«next 2 minutes» so we could take advantage of the happy hour pricing.

Wonderful experience. Reservations were easily made via Open Table, we arrived via Über and were immediately seated in the jazz bar downstairs. Took longer than it should have to place our drink order but no worries. When it arrived, The barrel aged Manhattan was well worth the wait, delicious! My wife ordered the 6oz filet, blackened dry aged rib eye for me. Both were prepared very well. I enjoyed my steak much more than a steak I had at Capital Grill a few months ago. At 6pm, the musicians took the stage and provided an outstanding dining atmosphere. Were were seated directly in front of them but we’re still able to carry on conversation. No time for desert as we ubered to the Springsteen rock and roll show for what turned out to be a glorious evening of great food and epic American music entertainment. The Majestic and The Boss, an unbeatable combination.

We came here for dinner over the weekend and WOW. The food is just amazing… We had the bread to start and WOW. The 32oz Porterhouse steak cooked rare and they made it perfect. The steamed asparagus was cooked perfect. The mac and cheese was good but not my favorite. The mashed potatoes were creamy and covered in brown gravy. yum. We had crème brûlée which was thicker then I’m used to but still very good. The cigar bar was very classy. The big leather chairs are great. The jazz bar downstairs was fantastic. Wonderful music! Wonderful drinks! Wonderful food! Wonderful service! I can;t say enough good things about this place.

A kc gem– would get 5 stars for ambience alone– great old building, great staff, exceptional music(kudos for supporting local jazz) The food is old time steakhouse with great attention to side dishes — prices on the upscale side, but it’s quality stuff

We made our first visit to The Majestic on Friday night. SO glad I’d made reservations! Got a table close to the small jazz stage. The food was Excellent! Steaks, salmon, pork chops were all outstanding. Shrimp Lemer and crab cakes made great appetizers. And then the jazz trio started and it just got better. This is what we’ve been looking for– a classy, historic restaurant with live jazz– you can eat and drink and laugh and talk AND listen to great music all at the same time! We’re from Des Moines and thought we were getting this when Noce opened but that place WAY missed the mark. This was a Perfect evening all the way around. Thank You The Majestic and Thank you Kansas City! We live your city!!!

Woah!!! Sugar coma after the ridiculous banana toffee baked french toast that pretty much melted in my mouth! The wife and I and the in-laws topped by the Majestic for Sunday brunch which was out of this world. Everything from the server who was awesome and very friendly to the ambiance which was totally cool made the experience one to remember. I will definitely have to come back when the jazz club is hopping downstairs! The food was out of this world as were the drinks! Everyone enjoyed their meal!

A truly magical dinner!!! The food was amazing, astounding service, and live music to to dream to! Nick is an amazing attentive server, who understands the perfect balance of taking care of patrons, while giving you your own space for a romantic evening. The salmon was perfection, and the live music will definitely have us coming back! The majestic is a true gem of Kansas City, and we will definitely be making it a regular evening adventure.

Went here for our anniversary last night. We had the time of our lives! Excellent server(thanks Bryan)! My ribeye was great, her salmon was great, but I feel strange saying that the best food of the night was the ancho/honey carrots. Fantastic! We dropped a hefty amount of change for our two meals and two drinks each, but it was well worth it. The food, the setting and the music all made for a great and memorable evening that we will brag about for quite some time! We both can’t wait to go back for our next special occasion!

Came here for lunch on a weekday. I need to come back for the Jazz in the basement. The lunch crowd was sparse. We had a good size group and the service… well it took some time to warm up to our waiter. He was very cold and calculated in his delivery but he was quick. I had the meatloaf and they made sure I didn’t go away hungry. I would suggest any Kansas City resident dine here at least once simply because of the long standing history with this restaurant.

Really fun experience downstairs in their jazz room. Would be a great way to end your dining experience too! There is a fully stocked bar, with a jazz ensemble that plays into the later evening. Bartenders are really nice and will also make you extremely strong drinks. We asked for an orange press with orange vodka, and 75% of that drink was just alcohol. Lots of laughs to go around, the atmosphere was so friendly and inviting.

Great atmosphere, fantastic food, and fabulous service. Brett M. was our server and he was truly wonderful. It was easily one of the best service experiences we have had in KC. We decided to give this place a try during KCRW to see if it would be a place we would like to put into our regular rotation for dinner. Our meat was really well prepared, the desserts were delicious and there were plenty of creative cocktails to choose from. If you are into girly drinks, try The Flapper. You won’t be disappointed. We were seated in the upstairs area because the jazz club is closed on Sunday and Monday nights. However, there was still live music so that was really nice. We are planning to make a return trip for dinner very soon to sit in the jazz club downstairs. I can’t believe we waited so long to try this place, but I am so glad we came for a visit!

Cute little place! The service was a little confusing. Passing through town and not super hungry, so we were debating on drinks and dessert or dinner. Couldn’t be seated at a table without knowing that we were going to order dinner. Sounds reasonable, so we were going to sit at the bar and just see how it goes. And then we were informed we couldn’t be served dinner at the bar. Uh, ok. No biggie. We ended up just going w dessert. It was delicious, as I’m sure everything is here. Good music too.

Truthfully, this should be a 3.5 but it is closer to three stars. Visited last Sunday for my husband’s birthday. I was excited to bring him here because he wanted to go to a steakhouse, but not a chain. We arrived and were immediately seated at a small table directly in the middle of the restaurant. Someone acknowledged us, then it took a while for our server to come over. She was very nice and made some good recommendations. I ordered the prime rib with broccoli and a baked potato and my husband ordered a t-bone with mashed potatoes and asparagus. I was warned that mine might be cooked a bit more well than medium, but it was definitely well done. Personally, that didn’t bother me so much though it would have been nice to have it cooked the way I requested. My husband sent his back. He requested medium-rare and it was medium-well. He had to flag down a busser because our server was busy chatting with another table and immediately disappeared back to the kitchen without checking on us. They brought out another steak about five or so minutes later and brought him some more bread to nosh on. They did offer him a cup of steak soup. Because it was his birthday, they did give him a free glass of wine but really no apology or discount for the overcooked steak. We both agreed that when you are spending $ 40+ for a piece of meat it should absolutely be cooked the way the customer wants. Though we probably wouldn’t rush back for dinner, we want to go to the jazz room soon. Our drinks were good and we want to try some of the appetizers. The place was super cool and we had a good experience(aside from our food being overcooked). We even met a nice couple from NC who were en route to Colorado.

This place never disappoints. Great atmosphere, food, and service. I’ve been several times for brunch and dinner. The upstairs reminds me of a classic 40’s experience… piano player, beautiful bar, tile floor. The downstairs feels like a private jazz club. Many options for brunch! They always have some sort of yummy muffins to enjoy while waiting on your meal. Breakfast potatoes are cripsy! Different variations of Benedict. The bacon and brie frittata is uh-mazing. One diner had a baked potato, bacon, and asparagus. Another had blueberry pancakes. Very accommodating! Jason is a fantastic server, and thank you! The pianist upstairs adds to the experience! Dinners are wonderful! Great steaks and many other fantastic choices.
