Excellent service, beautiful outdoor seating and good food. Enjoyed the evening eating outdoors on the patio. Whenever I’m in Kansas City, I stop by for a good meal. Definitely recommend it to anyone.

Despite the mediocre service on my first visit, I would have rated my first experience to Trezo Mare a 4 because I enjoyed the food. However on my last visit, the service was abhorrent, so I have to dock a full star for it. I ordered the same things on both trips — the calamari to start and the Fusilli Shrimp Diablo for my entrée. My boyfriend got the Lobster Mac and Cheese the first time we came here, and he hated it. The mac and cheese had been baked for too long, so the top of it ended up being a bit TOO crispy. On our second visit, he enjoyed his Crab Stuffed Trout, so it was definitely an improvement in food for him. I remember the food being better the first time I ate here — hence the 4-star I would have given. On this last visit, the food didn’t seem as fresh and flavorful. Perhaps the horrendous service altered my taste buds. Allow me to explain. Our server, Mark, was SIGNIFICANTLY more interested in this party of three directly seated across from us at a four-top. They appeared to be out-of-towners, as a random employee(no idea what his role at the restaurant was) sat down with them and reminisced about Des Moines, Iowa for the duration we were there. Mark was extremely chatty with this table, most likely because they were going to rack up quite a bill with alcohol and lots of food. He would continually stop by their table, and then walk away without even a glance towards us. We sat with empty water glasses most of the evening — only at the end when he came to pick up our empty plates did he realize we had just ice cubes in our glasses. That’s probably when he realized he had screwed up tremendously. He quickly walked away and came back with a water pitcher. Sorry, bud, but we already ate all our food, what are we gonna need this water for? We opted not to get dessert because we were so displeased with the service, and I’m not one to refuse dessert. We really didn’t want to spend another minute here, only to get ignored. I hope Mark got the tip he wanted from that table because we will never return. It’s really too bad because Trezo Mare could have been something great. Overall: 3⁄5 Food: 3.5÷5 Service: 1⁄5 Atmosphere: 3⁄5

Last time, on «Trezo Mare»… Josh and his girlfriend had mixed opinions on this restaurant. Josh ordered the Lobster Mac and Cheese, and Josh was disappointed because his was burnt. On this episode of «Trezo Mare»… Josh was still, unfortunately, disappointed. But for different reasons. DUN-DUN-DUN! We attempted Trezo Mare again after a mediocre first experience because my first impressions are pretty much always wrong; good thing Unilocal doesn’t require qualifications! Plus my girlfriend, who is smarter than I am, enjoyed the experience. For our second visit, we traded poor food for poor service. I ordered the Crab Stuffed Trout. It was a particularly tasty dish, served with an abundant side of kale that complemented the dish well. It was a generous portion, as well. I’ll just get to the disappointing aspect of the visit: the service. We went on a Saturday night, and it didn’t seem particularly busy. Especially our server, Mark. We were greeted and were brought waters in a timely manner, but that’s where the timeliness on his part ended. After giving us more than ample time to study the menu, he arrived to take our order. After our dishes were dropped off, we were never checked on again until after we finished eating. He filled waters then, but it didn’t really matter anymore because we required an IV to re-hydrate by that point. The thing about this was, he only had one other table that we saw, and it was in the immediate vicinity of us. Like, seven feet away. The table seemed like it was a hoot, ordering drinks and racking up an expensive bill. He very noticeably spent significant time there, so it wasn’t as if he disappeared to work on something else relevant. Because they were across the aisle from us, his back was to us. On more than one occasion, he spent several minutes with them, then walked back to the kitchen without even a glance our way. When he dropped the check off, I got the sense that either he realized he hadn’t attended to us well and forfeited a decent tip, or he decided his time would be better spent honing in on the other table to maximize the tip he’d get from them. I suspect we just had simple misfortune on both visits here, because I see the potential. But it was what it was.

Great place for an afternoon lunch. Bar seating is quick and quiet. Food is always top notch. I like the fish taco’s. French fry’s might be some of the best in KC. Dinner always has some tasty specials and some of the craft drinks from the bar are good choices. Take a client, take a spouse or take yourself. You can’t go wrong!

On my recent trip to KC I have had the pleasure of dining here twice. My first visit I enjoyed a proccuito and goat cheese pizza with a spinach salad… Both were amazing! Today for lunch I had the tuna tartar crisp and it was tasty. Server Ryann was 5 star!

Ordered the special filet and scallops. The steak was chewy and the scallops wrapped in bacon greasy. The potato and vegetables were different and not anything I’d get excited about eating again. Atmosphere is nice and the service was good, but the food was disappointing.

Trezo Mare was amazing at the restaurant week, we went both for lunch and dinner. The meals were amazing and the tiramisu was pretty close to perfection(the best I tried was from a family restaurant in Italian Alps). Service was great, I love the atmosphere and the décor that speaks in favor of long dinner with conversations and some good liquors. Unlike so many places around KC where you are expected to eat and leave in 30 minutes. The downside was that it was hard to get a reservation before 9pm. A bit late for dinner as for me but it was worth it.

Didn’t have the best experience but the owner truly made up for it! Incredibly professional and kind man! He changed my mind big time! Highly recommend, we must have had an off night the first night and they proved that they’re a great restaraun

I’ve been here a few times and had amazing experiences all times. The service was prompt and very professional. There has never been a time when the server was inattentive. Relaxing and quiet atmosphere. Would be perfect for a romantic date night. The food was wonderful. I’m not usually a good fan of seafood but I got the fried calamari for an appetizer and salmon in lobster sauce for my entrée. Both were cooked to perfection. For dessert, I had the salted caramel cheesecake and can I just say WOW. I originally came here for restaurant week a couple years ago and from then on, I was hooked. The service, the presentation and the taste absolutely make this place worth the money. If you don’t mind spending a little money, this place is definitely the place to be.

Came here for kc restaurant week with some girl friends. Service was great. Very pleasant and fast(we arrived 20 minutes early and were seated right away). I ordered the calamari to start. They were strips so they looked more like mozzarella sticks. They were good– nothing amazing. My friend had the car cakes and those are delicious. I had the chicken fettuccini which surprisingly tasted pretty bland. It looked and smelled great! After adding some salt and pepper, it got a little bit better. I finished off with the trezo chocolate bars that I loved!!! Soo good! The mousse was light and the crunch of the bottom layer made for an awesome combo! Wouldn’t be against coming back and trying the regular menu though.

Okay this place deserves a bump up to the best rating. I’ve been a fan ever since my first visit here and last night was beyond my expectations. We went for a friend’s birthday but also selected this place knowing it was Restaurant Week. WOW — our server, Justin, was top notch. When I made our reservation they asked if we were celebrating anything & I mentioned our friend’s birthday. Even during a busy RW dinner they noted this and acknowledged it. Big bonus there are several options on the RW menu. We all ordered different items and were pleased with our selections. I appreciated how well timed each course arrived and the perfect level of attention our server provided. The only thing that would make it better was warmer weather and seating outside on their amazing deck… but then it wouldn’t be RW would it?

Free pre-dinner entertainment! Our otherwise mundane server dropped olive oil and shattered the bottle all around the table. I didn’t see this at other tables and it didn’t appear on the receipt, so I’m not sure how we scored that. Also, she dropped the pepper shaker onto the floor and promptly set it back on the table. Plus, charges for lemonade refills??? Considering the server hardly refilled our waters, we were scared to ask for more bread(…is BREAD free?). As far as the meal itself, I’m torn between the calamari that exceeded expectations and the lobster mac and cheese that did not meet expectations. It was prepared burnt like a ziti would be, but it seemed to interrupt the flavor of this particular dish. It’s unusual that Brussels sprouts would be the best part of a meal that includes lobster and macaroni and cheese. Overall, it didn’t impress the way a faux pretentious restaurant would normally. My girlfriend was more impressed with the Fusilli Shrimp Diablo(spicy!). Casual to moderate chic dress. Service: 2⁄5 Meal: 3⁄5 Bread: 5⁄5

Ate in the dining room first time in a while. Great ambiance. We all had good meals. Ordered sandwiches that weren’t on the dinner menu and the staff didn’t hesitate. More than accommodating. Staff was very attentive and appreciative of our business.

I have only had lunch here so I haven’t had the full experience but from what I have seen, I will most definitely be back. I had the Crisp Greens Salad with the Asiago Peppercorn dressing and it was very good. I also had the Pale Ale Mustard Potato soup(I don’t think that’s what it was really called but you get the gist). The soup was amazing. Very creamy & decadent but not overly rich. It needed a lot of seasoning but I was happy to season to my own preferance. The hubs had the fish tacos &3 onion risotto. Fish weirds me out but he said it was pretty good and the risotto was great if you love onions. I want to go back for dinner & vino and sit outside on the rooftop. There’s a great view of downtown.

If you’re up North, give this place a try! My husband and I were putzing around on a Sunday morning and decided we wanted to grab an early lunch. We hadn’t eaten anywhere nearby so we decided to try Trezo Mare since they had a nice patio and it was a beautiful day. The outdoor patio is beautiful with plenty of seating and beautiful fountains etc. We both enjoyed our meals, which included a salad and some type of chicken dish. The mimosas were great and not overly sweet, which I very much appreciate. Our server was so friendly, the food was tasty and we enjoyed basking in the sun with a couple of drinks. It was literally one of my favorite Sunday mornings. To make it even better, due to the patio being so spacious, it didn’t feel crowded even though there were a few couples enjoying the patio as well. It was truly enjoyable!

Trezo has sure been hit or miss lately. Recently had what was my favorite dish for years(lobster mac and cheese) but both myself and other members of the party thought the recipe had been changed. What was a creamy, succulent cheese sauce tasted(and looked) like yellow nacho sauce you get out of a pump at a baseball game. Not dissing baseball nachos, but a ‘mexican’ flavored cheese sauce on lobster with brussel sprouts was not delicious. In fact, I couldn’t finish the meal at all when I am usually greedily consuming leftovers the next day. Nor do I recall there being bits of red bell pepper and scallions in the sauce either. Maybe the place is having issues in the kitchen, but was super disappointed in the dish this time.

I’ve only been here once for happy hour but not terribly impressive. Bar tender was extremely sarcastic to the point of being rude and food & drinks were just okay. Maybe I would try for a full meal but not sold…

I’ve struggled to figure out where this restaurant belongs based on multiple experiences for happy hour, brunch, and dinner. My two biggest complaints are that when you walk in the host or hostess is always sitting at the bar drinking water and reading the paper. It’s absurd and lazy. There is no greeting. I can’t believe a manager hasn’t stopped this yet. My other complaint is the price is too high for the quality of food and drinks. The food and drinks are fine but overpriced. The pasta is made in house but nothing to write home about. At brunch the poached eggs are over cooked. The best deals are $ 7 pizza night and happy hour apps. the drinks are pricey too and you have to be careful you don’t accidentally order one that isn’t on happy hour. The drinks are tasty and the bartenders are knowledgeable and have good technique. The patio is delightful. The chicken artichoke dip is addicting. The location is great. Will I keep going? Probably, but not ecstatically.

My boyfriend and I came here to celebrate my birthday. We had reservations at 7:30. Checked in, then went to the bar. Our table was ready just minutes later. Much to my surprise, my name was in the menu! They wished me a happy birthday! How sweet! Service was outstanding. Our server answered questions and made suggestions. I went with the Wood Fired Scallops, with lobster mashed potatoes and asparagus. My boyfriend had the salmon, gnocchi and asparagus. Both dishes were amazing! I had the white sangria. It was so delicious, I had to have two! Our server offered to buy dessert, he thought his service was slow that night. We didn’t think so at all. We were full, so we politely declined and let him know that we appreciated the gesture. We will definitely be back. I loved the ambiance. I definitely want to check out the patio and happy hour some time soon!

I heard about this place from a customer who comes to my work place. He gave me such a great review about this place that I knew I had to try it. I went by myself on my day off and ordered the Roasted Pork Chop for dinner and the Trezo Chocolate Bars for dessert! The pork chop, potatoes, and asparagus were cooked to perfection! I love a good pork chop, and they delivered! And the most unique dessert they have on their menu was the Trezo Bars. They were light, fluffy, and crunchy. Chocolate with peanuts and caramel drizzle. It was the best desert I’ve had at a restaurant. I would go again just for the dessert of nothing else! Anyone who dines here definitely must try them!

Presentation was great! And they were willing to work with our party organizer to announce the arrival of their child when dessert came out. Lobster macaroni and cheese was wonderful! The cheese sauce was spot on. Pasta was a little undercooked, however. Smore dessert was delicious. The presentation was wonderful and the bitter chocolate with the sweet of the marshmellow really balanced out.

Trezo Mare is one of those restaurants that I desperately want to like but that never seems to live up to my expectations. With a convenient Briarcliff location, a classy/comfy bar area, one of the best patios in Kansas City, and a menu full of wood-oven selections, it sounds(on paper at least) like it would be one of my favorite restaurants in town. But unfortunately that’s not been my experience. I originally started going to Trezo Mare as a happy hour spot. In addition to a great ambiance, they offered a nice menu of reasonably-priced appetizers and small plates to go along with some decent drink specials. But that has since changed, and now it seems like what you get at happy hour prices here you could find at regular menu price elsewhere. Another complaint I have about the happy hour menu is that they don’t have a huge selection of draft beers, only a few of which are on special, and the only cocktails that are discounted during happy hour are those that are really sweet and fruity. Wine specials, too, are limited to the red & white wine of the day. The food at Trezo Mare is also nothing to write home about. My wife and I have dined here on several occasions, for both brunch and dinner, and we’ve tried several different entrees on these visits. However, none of these meals were even remotely memorable. Pretty bland, in fact. And overpriced. Will I go back in the future? Probably… just because it’s convenient and I love the patio. But it will most likely only be for a quick bite and some drinks during happy hour.

The fried panko calamari was amazing with grated parmesan! The Chicken Piccata was one of the best chicken dish I’ve tasted. The white wine lemon sauce with caper was a perfect balance that made the chicken perfectly moist and tender. I’m not a huge fan of capers but the dish was so good that I cleaned the plate. The other dish we ordered was Wood — Fired Salmon with gnocchi. The dish was fairly good but i think we don’t care for the gnocchi like most people. Their bread tasted very fresh and light, the whipped butter just made it oh so amazing! Both desserts Trezo Chocolate Bar and Pistachio Panna Cotta was a perfect ending to a Sunday afternoon. I’m leaving happy and satisfied! Thank you Trezo Mare for a great dinner and our wonderful waitress, Jessica D. for a great service. We will be back soon!!!

Trezo Mare, for the win! Full confession, I’ve never been to Briafcliff Village before, so I was excited to come up here and try out a KC Restaurant Week lunch. The space is large and inviting, and has a slightly upscale atmosphere without being stuffy. It’s a bit reminiscent of Brio on the Plaza on the inside. I tried the crispy greens that has very fresh tomatoes for January, and this is likely due to their traditional farm-to-table approach. They’ve been on doing things this way before it was in vogue, so always good to see. Another side note that’s cool, they collect a large majority of their food waste for MO Organic to collect and turn into compost. I went big for the main course — a chicken alfredo with a smoked tomato cream sauce. It was evident that the large noodles were handmade, and had a whole wheat quality to them. It was as heavy as it sounds, but delicious. I was too full for more than a few bites of dessert but it was solid — the Trezo Chocolate Bar with peanut butter corn flake crust, mousse, caramel sauce and peanuts. This place surprised me as it really is a solid, local gem just north of the river. I think due to proximity I won’t be here often, but I would certainly recommend it as a place to check out if you haven’t been here. As I was pulling out of the parking lot, I caught a cool view of the skyline and headed back that way.

Ahhhh, come for the Happy Hour, or come for dinner… you simply can’t go wrong! Happy Hour at Trezo is usually filled with a good amount of people — typically an older crowd, but some youngins mixed in as well. HH is good for the drinks, but if you want something to fill you up, food wise, I’d suggest just having dinner in the dining room. I glanced at the menu and saw they offered a Braised Short Rib which immediately sealed the deal. Then, I saw it was served with horseradish mashed potatoes and I was practically salivating. Good lord, that dish was amazing. The horseradish in the mashed potatoes was a perfect dose — not too much, but enough to know it’s there. I will definitely come back again to have another go ’round with that dish. Service: I was having dinner with a former flame, which turned out to be a mistake. Not only did he ask 471,854 questions about every dang dish on the menu including which sauces he does and doesn’t like(he’s lost 35 pounds this year, you know) and basically being an overall condescending a**, our server was a saint who patiently explained the menu items until my dinner companion was satisfied.(This former flame also talked all the way through Beyonce’s «Partition» on the ride home. How disrespectful. I can’t even.) So, even if you end up having dinner with someone who makes you want to pluck your own hair out, with tweezers — the quality of the food at Trezo Mare will make up for it. I think.

The Happy Hour and lunch at Trezo are delicious. The salads are fresh and the BLT has a twist that caught me off guard the first time. How often do you see a BL(fried)Tomato on a sandwich?! The fish tacos are a refreshing change also. Great wine selection and anything you order is bound to be good. Sit at the bar area! :) It’s a great lunch spot in Briarcliff.

I have to say the fact that I was even at an Italian restaurant and considering eating is a big deal. I miss Italian food. I can’t have tomatoes, dairy, or gluten. So really, what is the point of going to a restaurant that specializes in said food? However, because I needed to investigate a gluten-free menu, I entered with the idea that I may just have a drink and a salad. I was very surprised to learn that not only do they have a true gluten-free menu. But they make their own gluten-free pasta. The gluten-free menu is quite extensive in my opinion(at least for Kansas City). And especially for this type of cuisine. I went to this«Italian-influenced» restaurant with a mostly full stomach because this was not planned, and my only intention was to check out the menu for research purposes. But our server was so convincing, delightful, and passionate about the menu, that I ended up ordering food. I plan go to back in the future and actually try this gluten-free pasta. Our server, who does not normally eat gluten-free was raving about it(and the gluten-free flourless dessert). ANDDID I MENTIONTHEYBROUGHTOUTGLUTEN-FREEBREAD!!! That was a complete surprise, and very much appreciated. Their drink menu is very appealing, including wine. They have a lovely lounge area, and outside seating for nicer weather. The dining area is very nice. I felt cozy and taken care of the entire time we were there. I think it would be a great date spot. But it also fits the bill for a happy hour in the lounge, or on the patio. They also serve brunch on Saturday & Sunday. They had some good deals for happy hour at the bar, too(food and drink options). They do happy hour Monday-Saturday, and I believe a reverse happy hour from 9-close as well. Overall, we had a very lovely experience, and will definitely go back. Our service was top notch, and our food was delicious. My dining companion polished off his fettuccini alfredo, along with the pork shoulder & swiss chard that I was sampling. From a non gluten-free perspective the menu is even more extensive. I did not feel limited at all. But if I could actually EAT gluten, dairy, and nightshades I cannot even imagine how stuffed I would be. I feel like anyone with an appetite would be more than thrilled to order from the menu. There were even maybe five salads, soup, and a good choice of sides for someone who might be either on a budget, or not as hungry.
