This place is yummy and great option for vegans BUT the Unilocal map is currently way off! This place is located near brick oven near kuhio hwy and Haleilio st. It sits in the strip mall part in the back. Check it out!

This place doesn’t exist or the address on Unilocal is wrong. Drove a good 25 miles to get here only to see a patch of barren land. The phone keeps ringing but goes straight to a voicemail that gave no indication of it being any kind of a culinary establishment. Very disappointed!

This is the only completely vegetarian(milk products might be there) restaurant in Kauai that we could find. It offers Indian food cooked in medium spice range. They offer a «platter» in which you can choose 3 or 4 curries. You also get some rice along with it. It costs nearly 9 $. The food portion was just about sufficient for a meal. If you are very hungry, it might be a little less for you(and you could purchase more curries for 2 $ per serving). The owner was kind enough to give us some achar(pickled Indian vegetables) for more spice. The place is very normal looking(nothing fancy). In fact, the owner looked so informal — he was in shorts and what Indians call a banian(under-shirt). They also have a variety of Kombucha available in their bar. I think the food is cooked at once in the morning and kept in the heater for a while(due to low demand). So, you might be better off going right after the restaurant opens(in the morning or evening).

Vegans come here! Quite tasty. Without even being promoted the guy told us what was vegan. Everything but one vegetable dish was vegan.

Tiny little place Tucked back into Wailua, next to brick oven pizza. As we walked in greeted with a smile and aloha! Six different dish varieties to choose from, with my favorite yellow Indian rice. Only eight dollars! Very flavorful and delicious! this place blows away the other indian food place. They only have vegetarian dishes. All the food they make there is from local farms on Kauai. Definitely check this out before you leave!

Great place for Indian food on the island. Fresh, quick, tasty and good options available for Vegetarian people. Tomato Dal(lentil) is a must try. Make sure you carry cash.

Worst Indian good I’ve had. Not spicy at all. I’m not sure what the other reviewers thought was so great about it. But I’m never coming back here again. The curry was underwhelming, not warm at all, the cauliflower and chickpeas mushy. It was plain bad.

This place is a tiny hole in the wall but the food is great. The chef/owner learned Tamil cooking from his mother-in-law. The place is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. It’s just $ 8 for a meal of rice plus choice of 3 out of 6 or 7 different curries, prix fixe. Highly recommended!

If you are a foodie looking for quality Indian food, this is the definition of the hole-in-the-wall-all-about-the-food joint. Freshly prepared vegetarian clean food with fantastic taste at $ 8 a plate of 3 choices and yummy herbed cashew rice. There is seating, or you can take it to go. Enjoy!

So excited to have this awesome little restaurant on Kauai! Great food and the owner is very nice and welcoming. All the dishes, on the day we went, we’re allergy friendly– no eggs, no dairy and only one item wasn’t gluten free! Oh, and great price/value at only $ 8 for rice and 3 choices.

I am so excited that we have a new Indian restaurant on Kauai! Café Nirvana just opened less than 2 weeks ago and I’ve already eaten there twice. I will say that the first time we went in, I was a little alarmed by the«curb appeal» and ambience — so do know that this is a very very casual low key place. But the minute we walked in and chef /owner Robin began talking to us I knew it was going to be great — and it was! For $ 8, you get lemon rice and your choice of 3 dishes(Robin seems to make 6 – 8 something different each day.) Amazing deal! It was so good we went back for an extra plate. 2 people, 3 plates, $ 24 — can’t beat that! The food is southern Indian and vegetarian(vegan?). Please do stop by and support Café Nirvana so that we continue to have this wonderful new, and affordable restaurant choice on Kauai!
