The shave ice and vanilla ice cream were delicious. My 4 stars reflect a slightly curt woman at the shave ice counter, who, when I opened their back door with my 4 year old, with their cups in my hand, asking if we could come in through this door, she responded firmly«you can not!». Fine-you want 5 stars? You can not!

Hee Fat’s shaved ice, if you pay for the natural fruit juices, is to die for. Get the shaved ice over macadamia nut ice cream, you will never forget it.

The best shave ice we’ve ever had! Plus natural syrups that make it a healthier choice than most. Nice young gentleman that took care of us was so kind and helpful. Highly recommend this place in Kapaa!

This was some very solid shaved ice. I opted for the ‘real fruit’ flavors. I’d recommend that upgrade as it just feels better to have something that resembles food rather than colored sugar water. But don’t kid yourself, it’s still mostly sugar. My favorite thing about this place is that it’s open at least an hour earlier than any other shaved ice place I found in Kapaa. So if you’re needing some early shaved ice, get to Hee Fat. You won’t regret it.

Tucked inside a small store is the best shaved ice on Kauai. We tried several shaved ice places all over the island but for our final one before leaving we all voted this one as the best. Get the macadamia nut ice cream base and the snow cap topping.

All we can say is, the ultimate kauai guidebook was right — hands down the BEST shave ice. Get the macadamia nut ice cream on the bottom for sure. It’s amazing. The snow cap is great on top and stick with the fresh fruit toppings. We went three times in a week and a half and wanted to go more! The staff is amazingly friendly, helpful and relaxed. So nice!

Hee Fat has the finest grade shave ice on the island that broke da mouf. Seriously, make a pilgrimage for the shave ice, you won’t regret it. Prices are reasonable for shave ice and other goodies. They offer cute tee shirts, unique foodstuffs, and a few ticky tacky tourist items.

BESTCHAVEICE on the Island! The ice is so fine that it is perfect shave ice and not like a snow con. Their costumer service is incredible, as they are all so kind. They put ice cream in their shave ice and have many choices to choose from! Their sign is a little small to find but it is certainly worth the drive.

Absolutely delicious! Husband and I decided to share but after a few bites I decided I needed my own. He had the Hawaiian Sunrise and I had the Rainbow. Yum!

Lives up to being one of the best shave ice stores on the island! Huge portions! My hubby and I shared a keike. Sunrise with the ice cream and snow top was delicious! Ice was soft and melts in your mouth. Highly recommend over Ono Ono and Kaua’i Shave ice! We’ll be missing you!

This review is solely for their so called«Kauai made products». You fooled me this time Hee Fat! I picked up a few items while visiting including a couple of wood bowls. The card taped to the bowl clearly stated it was designed in Hawaii from high quality acacia. Upon removing the strategically placed price sticker on the bottom, I was disappointed to learn the bowl was actually made in the Philippines. WTF. Not cool, Hee Fat! Not cool. UPDATE: Dear fellow Unilocalers, bullying is not ok. This review is based on my experience. You don’t have to agree with me or even like what I have to say. I do not need a geography lesson to be told the Philippines are part of the South Pacific. The items were not advertised as made in the Philippines. Honest mistake? Perhaps. Do I feel the merchandise was misrepresented? Yes. Do you need to attack me for my review? Absolutely not.

Although I didn’t try«every» shaved ice place on the island, the shaved ice here was superb. I got the natural flavoring and it was so delicious. A scoop of macademia nut ice cream on the bottom and the snow cap on top knocks it out of the park. The shaved ice is located at a counter inside the«general store» so if you’re just walking down the street you might not think to stop. But do it!

Great shave ice. Really hard to say who has the«best» shave ice on the island — you’d be splitting hairs because they’re all pretty good. So I’ll say I enjoyed the ice at Hee Fat the most. It has everything you want in a shave ice — real syrup, fluffy ice, and the perfect size — not too big, not too small. The others I tried, also good, were Koloa Mill Coffee and Ice Cream, Koloa Shave Ice, Ono Ono Shave Ice and Wailua Shave Ice. Each has their own strengths and weaknesses. Koloa Mill — best ice cream Koloa Shave Ice — cutest store front Ono Ono — largest size and best price Wailua — fresh fruit and cool spoons The other two on my to try list are Jo Jo’s and Hawaiian Blizzard.

My hubby and I both decided that Hee Fat shaved ice was our favorite of the five different shaved ice places we tried on Kauai. I ordered a regular size with cherry, pineapple, and blue raspberry with macnut ice cream. The flavored are fruity without being overly sweet. The serving of ice cream in the shaved ice was very generous and it tasted delightful. My son just got a macnut ice cream cone and loved that the ice cream was loaded with macnuts. The employees working here were very nice and the shop had cool things to take home as souvenirs. We loved this place so much that we had to go back to Kapaa just to have it one last time on our last beach day.

When visiting Hawaii, shave ice is a must. Hee Fat is located along the strip of stores along Kuhio Highway in Kapaa. I thought it was strange to have a shave ice store within a general store, but whatever. We had a coupon for a free vanilla macadamia nut ice cream with the purchase of a shave ice. We ordered a coconut, pineapple, and mango flavor. It was really good, and the ice cream at the bottom was simply amazing. The ice cream is a must.

This place has freaking awesome shaved ice. The previous Unilocal reviews set the bar pretty high for me and I most certainly was not disappointed when I got to try it for myself. The ice is shaved super duper fine and all the flavors & ice cream are absolutely delicious. I’ve had Lava Flow, Hawaiian Sunset & Rainbow shaved ice. I have no favorites, I loved them all. The portions are pretty large as well so the kid’s size is perfect for me. I tried a bunch of shaved ice places after Hee Fat and nothing else really compares. I can’t wait till the next time I’m back on this island and for my next visit here. I’m really curious about those Hawaiian hot dogs!

Great place to get shaved ice! Thanks to the Unilocal app, we found this place while walking through Kapaa town. There was a small line and a small crowd in the store on a Saturday, which is always a good sign that the food is tasty. We ordered a kiddie size shaved ice to share as neither of us are huge fans of cold sweets. We got 3 different flavors on our shaved ice, and it was super tasty! Definitely recommend this!

If you want shaved ice, and you want it to taste good, I’d recommend hitting up Hee Fat General Store. We went in at about 5:30 p.m., and there was no line. I was happy because I was hungry. I ordered the half strawberry half blue razz. I’m not afraid to admit that I felt like a kid again with that order. My wife went strong with the lava flow. I swear she downed that thing in 6 minutes flat. Whenever she saw a brain freeze coming, she stayed focused and played her game. That’s all we can ask for, right? The store itself is cool, too. There are all the Hawaiian trinkets and specialty food items you can think of. I even found myself looking at the different sea salts and saying, «I have no idea what to do with these… but should I buy a few anyway to try? Maybe they go good with eggs…» The staff was friendly, and the guy who helped us with the shaved ice up-sold me by getting a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the bottom. I think you can liken adding a scoop of vanilla ice cream to adding bacon to pretty much anything… the answer is yes; the answer is always yes.
