Ivy Nails

I came here yesterday because it was right around the corner from my house. I get there and a guy immediately yells out «Kimmi is not here». confused I said I’m not waiting for ‘Kimmi’ as long as the my nails and pedicure is done right I dont have a preference of who does them. He said ok. One lady worked on my feet and he on my nails. Another customer walks in wanting a pedicure so the lady working on my toes leaves and now its the man doing everything. First he re-​uses the scrubbing pad and foot skin remover! (i don’t know the proper term for it). gross! I didn’t realize it until i saw him take the same rller cart to anothe customer after he finished my nails and feet. –_​– Then he paints my nails and the work is so sloppy. I go sit under the UV light and immediately messe up my thumb. He put on one coat and leaves –_​-​. So after anothet young lady finishes with her customer I simply asked if i could get one more coat. She acted a though i asked her for the recie for the Krabby Patty Formula! She ignored me and said something to the group. Then nothing. So i gasked her again a little bit more irritated. Then i thought, i can just leave! So i got my stuff and was about to leave when ‘Kimmi” came and put the second coat on. (she was the only nice one, thats why i guess she comes so highly recommended. I left and vowed never to come back. Only to come back five minutes later becuase i left my phone –_​_​_​_​_​_​_​_​_​_​_​_​_​_​_​_​_​_​_​_​_​_​–

It saddens me to write this review, especially with one star. I have been coming here for 4 years! I have ALWAYS had Nikki do my nails and eyebrows while enjoying a pedicure. The prices are reasonable and Nikki always did a great job and did exactly what I asked for.
So why the one star? Yesterday I went to get a refill. I tell the owner and Nikki I want a refill, making sure I say «for $ 15». She says okay, then asks if I want the same color or different color. I guess I didn’t communicate as well as I should, I mean I said REFILL twice now. So I thought huh, maybe you can get a color change with a refill? So I ask for a slightly lighter color, again, repeating «refill».
When checking out a random girl comes up and says «$ 30». Ummm what? I told her politely that I only got a refill, it’s $ 15. Then the owner comes up and starts telling me I got a full set. After telling them both several times no I asked for a refill, Nikki comes up and says «No, I changed color so new full set.» I told her that that was not what I asked for, she asked me if I wanted to change color but she did not say that it was a new full set. After arguing for 5 minutes I looked at both them and asked if they were really going to make an angry, LOYAL customer pay $ 15 than I was expecting when they didn’t communicate properly. They just said, «$ 30».
You can bet I will NEVER be back here again. I don’t mind paying a little more to get my nails done somewhere else that knows how to treat loyal customers.

I’ve been trying to give this place a chance but service is not improving. There are other places nearby that to a better job on pedis, acrylic nails, and waxing. Still at haven’t found a good place for eyebrows. I would avoid this place.

This place is crap because of the owner. He thinks everything is just money and has no sense of customer service. I want to rate higher because people like annie and tiffany are great but he just kills everything and if you dont get one of those two the rest tend to just rush through jobs.

I love Tina & Nikki! The salon isn’t perfect, but it’s excellent care & courteous ladies & reasonable prices! The places by the galleria have nothing on Tina! And Nikki is the only one I trust with my eyebrows. Thanks ladies!

I went in to get a full set of acrylic nails and a pedicure. Everything was going great until the woman could not draw a flower on my toes which I mean, whatever it was no big deal. The man (owner) began doing my full set and I told him I wanted white polished nails. He takes his time so I’m assuming I’m going to get a good set. He then moves me over to his chair and says «ok done» and I say no I wanted white polish and he continues to tell me «I know not white tip looks good I’m telling you» OKAY NO. I’m the customer you don’t tell me anything unless I ask. IM SO PISSED RIGHT NOW. I had asked him to reshape one nail because one side was completely curved and polish was missing in some spots it was also uneven. The conversation continues
Me: can you file this some more
Him: ok done
Me: no I’m not paying for something I’m unhappy with
Him: YES YOU PAY
Me: don’t tell at me. Why should I pay for something I don’t like?
Him:YOU PAY. I PAY FOR ELECTRIC, WATER
(at this point I’m pissed and ready to leave)
Me: I don’t care what you pay for, I’m a paying customer and I’m unhappy stop touching my nails
So I get up and he snatches the money out of my hands and he’s yelling at me saying «YOU DONT COME BACK» I then rush over to my usual nail place on westgreen IN TEARS to get them fixed. I STRONGLY suggest you go to Taylor nails on westgreen. This place is garbage. Later I was told the man has had multiple calls to the police for locking ppl into his shop Bcs they refused to pay for service they were unhappy with. He was also cited for refused a child use the restroom Bcs the mother was unhappy with her service. NEVER AGAIN!!! I rate 1 star because I can’t make a post with 0.

Awful service… Although instead of putting in the hard work to buff my French tip acrylic, the man simply applied a clear layer of gel after he moved me to another station and forgot about me. Leaving me waiting for 5 minutes with unfinished nails until he «remembered» me and simply threw a clear coat over my unfinished nails. Not to mention when he applied my tips I told him several times they were too long, in which he stated he would «cut down later» (something which never ended up happening no matter how many times I requested they be shorter) so I will now be spending my evening filing down long nails that should have been done to begin with.

The bf and I decided to get pedis on this lazy Sunday afternoon because 1) I desperately need one and 2) he wanted a nice foot rub. Since I’m an inner loop snob and don’t wander outside of my area often, I wasn’t sure where to go. Unilocal,you actually let me down on this one. Service was okay. The male (I’m assuming owner since he didn’t do much else) was watching Vietnamese videos on his phone loudly while the were at least 6 customers getting their nails done. Annoying. I felt like the technicians gave a half –A pedicure, barely scrubbing anything. Also, nail color selection was really low. However, I can’t complain too much because this place is about $ 5 cheaper for a pedicure. The saving grace for this place? Awesome foot rubs with your pedicure. I almost fell asleep during mine and the bf definitely knocked out. Probably won’t be back here but if I needed a good foot rub, I’ll come by.

I’ve been coming here for over a year. Nikki does my brows. Where else can you get your eyebrows waxed, trimmed, tweezed, & a mini temple massage for $ 7.00?! It’s not the fanciest salon in Houston, but the service rocks.

This place is AWFUL!!! Stay clear from the guy who works there! Did a horendous job on a pedicure! I had nail polish all over my toes and he removed half my pinky toe nail during the process which is now infected. He claimed he did nothing wrong. Manager was reluctant to give me my money back and claimed she will fix it. After that experience, I do not want any of them near my body! Never got refunded. Just a «you don’t like service then go somewhere else». I said to give me my tip money back and the guy kept saying he did nothing wrong. Eventually, I got the tip money back. The next day after the pedicure, half the paint is all gone from my toe nails and all chipped away. I’ve never had a pedicure that did not even last 24hrs! I also scheduled an appointment for the doctor as well because of the pain from when the nail was removed. Place was very unclean and not sanitary and the staff and manager were extremely unprofessional!

This is my regular nail salon… love it! I’ve gotten the spa mani/​pedi here, along with my eyebrow/​lip wax. They do a great job on everything and take their time. Prices are cheap, and it’s always busy (great sign). I’ve never had an issue with anything. I’ve never had to wait long, and there’s plenty of OPI colors. My nails and brows always look great. I’ve never told them how I want my brows, but they do it perfect every time (I’ve learned nails salons are great at shaping them, so I don’t tell them otherwise). The place may not look like much… just your regular independently-​owned nail salon in a run-​down strip center. Also, I always seem to be there at 2:00PM, and they always have Ellen on their TV… actually, they get an extra star just for that. :)

My first time here after searching hi and low for a decent nail salon in the Katy area… still not up to my LA standards (okay maybe I should lower them a little), but not bad. They take their time and the end result is not too bad. Gel nails are only $ 25 too… you can’t beat that!
Also, they had a steady stream of customers coming in while I was there so made me feel more confident about this place.
The cons:
1) you walk in and you’re hit in the face with the smell of acrylic… didn’t they put up a health ordinance about that or something bc newer salons def don’t smell this way… again, maybe this is just in LA
2) poor choice of nail colors and lots of cheapo brands… again! Maybe I’ve been spoiled by my LA nails salon where they have walls of Essie and OPI colors so I gotta stop these comparisons!
Overall, enjoyable experience and definitely best in Katy (and sadly, best in Katy = average). Will probably come back though since the choices are extremely limited
