I’m a sushi restaurant snob for sure. I compare every place to sushi Hana on mason road which has been my favorite for years. Since they are closed after the recent fire we reluctantly decided to try something new. I have to say that I’m glad we did! We went today on Valentine’s Day with no reservations and were seated immediately. The waitress was very friendly and service was prompt. Wait times on our orders were faster than I am used to. Hubs got the tuna tataki for an app which is one of his favorite dishes. The serving was smaller than what he gets at sushi Hana but it was very tasty he said(he didn’t share!). I had the tuna tartar and it was also good. We shared a philly roll, a Gemini roll and a crunchy roll. All were delicious although the philly had more cream cheese than I like to have. The Gemini roll is probably a new favorite of mine. We will definitely be back!

I don’t get all the five star reviews. Maybe it’s because they have a sign offering a freebie for Unilocal reviews. We ate there last night and the sushi was ok although on the expensive side for Katy and the quality was no better than any of the other Katy sushi restaurants. The service was a little rough. They got very busy and it took forever for our waitress to come bring us our check. I eventually had to ask her for it after we stared at empty plates and glasses for 10−15/minutes. Overall food was average, service not so great, so 3 stars is about the best I can do. I much prefer Sushi Hana. Prices are better and Sushi is a bit better, although service can be uneven there too.

The sushi was pretty decent here but the service was super slowwwwww! Took us forever to get out order and drinks. Then they brought our order out incomplete. We tried to cancel the second half since it took so long but they never came back to our table. This is still prob the best place in the area but, expect slow inattentive service.

Trying this new restaurant for the first time and I do think they have decent sushi overall. The Chinese menu seems a little lacking but we only ordered 2 dishes from that part of the menu. Here’s the breakdown: Albacore Tataki — love it! They hit the perfect mix of ponzu with fried onions on top. Chiraishi — box was actually kinda small for $ 19. It the variety was sufficient. Caterpillar roll — pretty standard but it pretty. Gemini roll — very well done. Possibly one of the better tasting rolls around. Flaming Volcano roll — a must try! Shrimp fried rice — there were around 15 pieces of large shrimps and very well done. Chicken Mei Fun — it’s basically vermicelli stir fry. It’s decent only. Some pluses is the bowl of nuts and wonton chips they serve to start. The only bad is they were not prepared for the Friday night rush at all. Completely understaffed. While we got a table quick, they didn’t get us menus till 10 mins in. Always rushing and not getting us plates or spoons. I will give them another try for sure. The food is worth it.

We got take-out last Sunday to try this restaurant as we had seen flyers in the mail advertising. To try and get a good feel for both their sushi and chinese food we ordered a Shaggy Dog Roll, the Jalepeno Chicken, and egg rolls. Everything was great — the shaggy dog roll tasted very fresh and had great presentation — even in a takeout box! The Jalepeno chicken was spicy and is not for the faint hearted — there are as many jalepenos as pieces of chicken. The egg rolls were also good, nothing out of the ordinary compared to other chinese restaurants. My only recommendation based on personal preference would be to add more veggies to the jalepeno chicken(onion, green bell pepper) just to help balance the spiciness of the jalepenos and provide more variety. We will definitely be back soon!

I am so happy we found this place on Unilocal!I liked Nikko, but we just moved from Peek and Kingsland to by Old Katy and weren’t sure what delivers. Man is this a much better option than pizza or regular Chinese food.(Yes I know sushi is Japanese). We got the Szechuan shrimp, hot and sour soup, pork egg-rolls, shaggy dog roll, philly roll, and 4 pieces of the super white tuna sashimi and there wasn’t one bad thing. The super white tuna was fresh, delicious and melted in my mouth. The shrimp were big, plump and served in generous portions. I am very please with our order and will definitely be a regular here. Delivery did take 45 minutes, but I don’t think that’s unreasonable.

First time we came here I ordered the dinner menu lo-mein, and my wife the Singapore noodles. Both were amazingly fresh and flavorful. Quite surprisingly eclectically presented. A few days later we returned for lunch. This time I had the chirashi and my wife Szechuan shrimp, both were first class. At last a good fusion of Japanese and Chinese in Katy.

We came in for lunch, the staff was attentive. my friend and i ordered the flaming volcano roll and lunch combo D. The flaming volcano, as its name implies, was lit on fire! The sauce surrounding it, spicy mayo & eel sauce, of course was a great pairing. The center was filled with perfectly seasoned scallops and shrimp. It was great flavoring but IMO, did not complement each other. The Lunch combo D was a good portion for price.

I love this place!!! It’s such a gem. My boyfriend and I both love sushi and Chinese food, so our dinner decisions are typically between those 2. Fortunately, we discovered this place that offers both! I haven’t had a single dish here that I haven’t loved so far. I can’t recall all the rolls the boyfriend ordered, but my favorite that I continue to order is the shaggy dog. Their miso soup, shrimp rolls, and spring rolls are great too! For Chinese food, I’ve tried both the sesame chicken and the cashew chicken so far and thought they were both great! I will continue to order those, but look forward to trying other items off the menu to see what other awesomeness they have to offer. The lunch special is unbelievable… your choice of soup(I personally love miso soup, so this is my go-to), a spring roll or a crab puff(I got the spring roll), an entrée(cashew chicken for the win), and either fried or steamed rice(have had both and loved both)…all for $ 6.95!!! The service has always been friendly, helpful, and fast. I had no problem getting in and out for my 1 hour lunch break and they are equally as wonderful at dinner time. I will absolutely keep giving them my business, so I hope they stick around! Definitely recommend giving them a try!

I haven’t found a decent Chinese joint in the area. Oishii magically appeared when I was scrolling through Unilocal.I wanted to try it since we were near Costco. The restaurant is hidden all the way in the back where BB’s café is. The restaurant itself is very modern and nice. The appearance gears more towards a sushi atmosphere for sure. We were greeted pretty quickly as we were their first customers. I love the fact that they served wonton chips and a small bowl of stir-fried peanuts! So watch out to those who have peanut allergies, but I freaking love peanuts so yes to that! We ordered General Tso’s chicken and Hunan pork lunch specials for $ 6.95 each. We checked in so they gave us a free crabmeat crunchy roll. The roll was pretty simple and good. I like the fact that they don’t use too much rice and had lots of crabmeat, imitation of course. Now my General Tso’s chicken on the other hand, I was not impressed at all. The color appeared more like an orange chicken. I was expecting a richer brown color so I kinda knew right away this dish was not going to hit the spot for me. Sure enough it just tasted off. I told my husband that the texture tasted more like tofu than chicken. It just had this mushy like taste where you couldn’t tell if it was just all batter or batter with tofu. It was really odd. My husband’s Hunan pork seemed a little on the salty side to me. He thought it was good that they seem to use fresh ingredients. Overall I would probably give this place another shot again as far as the sushi is concerned. I don’t think the Chinese dishes are up to par with my taste buds. Service was good but it took a long time to get the bill.

The décor is understated and modern. Beautiful fish tank near the bar, and everything is simple and clean. Splendid execution and service. I had the Gemini Roll. The fish was very fresh and flavorful, avocado perfectly ripe, crabmeat and baby shrimp inside was delicate, and the combination of the spicy tuna inside with the honey wasabi sauce on top gave it a great spicy-sweet punch without overwhelming the fish. I also had the Octopus Sashimi. It was slightly chewy in the way octopus always is, without being overly chewy in the way you never want octopus to be! Wonderful. The sushi chef was very intent on his work, and next time I plan to sit at the sushi bar so I can watch him at his craft. My friend had the Jalapeño Beef from the Chinese menu side. Sliced and roasted jalapeños mixed in with the beef. He said it was flavorful and spicy and gave it a big thumbs up. I would recommend this place highly, and I plan to eat here often.

I happened to be in the area and was in the mood for sushi when the Unilocal app said this was a new place. I ordered the lunch combo with 2 rolls and chose wonton soup. I chose the White Ninja and Eel Avocado. I wasn’t sure what to expect from the White Ninja roll, but when I tried it it had salmon, tuna, and some kind of spicy sauce. It was good. Speaking of salmon, it was very fresh and fatty on my Alaska roll. Perfect Salmon for sashimi on its own. Wait service was fast and friendly.
