We are in Kansas and it rains. Its December. My husband called in and about 15 minutes later got called back, to pick it up. We ordered the Beef with soft noodles and Black Mushrooms with Bamboo Sprouts. It was absolutely delicious! The portions were well prepared, generous and hot! All in a covered dish, since we had it as take-out! Highly recommended, weather you eat inside or out!

My husband, son and I picked up some Chinese to go. Since we originated from Springfield, we were excited for their«Springfield» style cashew chicken. That’s what both of the boys got, and I got the Mongolian beef. The boys both said that the chicken tasted like they picked it out of the buffet, like it had been cooked hours earlier. The food was edible, but not one of us thought it was good. Maybe we caught them on an off day. That’s the reason I’m giving them 3 stars.

Bias– I am picky about Chinese food. My wife used to run a store right next to a Chinese restaurant and I know BADBADTHINGS. So my 5 star rating of this place should speak volumes. Its quiet, quaint, and simple. Nothing fancy about this place just good food and good people. The service has always been excellent. I am a big fan of their Hunan beef and their eggdrop soup. This is not a high end place, prices are low and the place is clean. Not fancy, clean. Which in the Chinese food world… Means the most. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a good Chinese food fix! :). Love Hunan in Kearney!

Their food is pretty good. I wouldn’t travel any great distance to eat here, but it’s worth it if you’re in the area. I’m still searching for authentic Chinese food though. It’s listed here as Japanese cuisine but it’s Americanized Chinese food.

This place is great. The hot schezwan chicken is awesome. They cook chicken with red chilies and jalapeños. Warning it is very hot.

This place has been here for as long as I can remember. It never fails to be delicious and is as welcoming as one could ask for. Even the sunday lunch buffet is good; nothing sits out for hours getting stale. Best of all, the second your water glass runs dry someone is there filling it up. Hunan Garden is tops, folks.

My family has stopped here twice on road trips between Minnesota and Texas. Our last stop was yesterday, when we called ahead to place our order and thus save time on a long drive. The food turned out be delicious and ample in portion, and the service was most pleasant. One of the employees played a few classical pieces on the piano — no kidding — and added«Red River Valley» for some odd reason. I really liked their home-style bean curd dish, and the pork fried rice was yummy. My daughter ordered the sweet and sour chicken, which might have been better if they had not put the sauce all over it before serving it. All this said, I really wish this place was in Austin, Texas so I could have a new favorite in town.

Tucked away in the corner of an old strip mall on the west side of town, lies one of my absolute favorite restaurants… Hunan Garden. This establishment has been around for years and it’s no big secret why. The food is fantastic, the prices are reasonable, and the service is great. Whether it’s lunch, dinner or buffet all the way, you won’t be disappointed! Have you ever heard the saying, ‘absence makes the heart grow fonder’? Well, that definitely rings true in this case. I haven’t lived in Kearney for years, but luckily my family still does. So whenever I travel back home, I make it a rule to visit both before I leave. Don’t tell my mom… but sometimes Hunan Garden is my first stop :)
