A family member referred me to Dr. Mehta for GI related issues I was experiencing. From the moment I walked into his new office, I immediately felt comfortable with my decision to see Dr. Mehta. His office is extremely elegant and contemporary — the most that I have seen thus far — and his staff was very courteous. When I met Dr. Mehta, he was professional, incredibly down-to-earth, and compassionate as he listened carefully as I explained my GI issues. He appeared knowledgeable of what the problem may be, and prescribed some medicine. Nearly two months have elapsed since my initial appointment, and I feel so much better. My quality of life has drastically improved because of Dr. Mehta. I now enjoy regular, daily activities, and no longer suffer as I used to. For me, Dr. Mehta truly made a difference in my life and I am forever thankful to him.

I am editing my review because I do feel I should explain that this incident happened in 2008, 8 years ago. I have recently been searching for a GI doctor and saw that Dr. Mehta is still practicing in the area and was compelled to write my experience with him. After being in practice for a long time after my particular incident, hopefully his manner has mellowed over the years and he’s less aggressive and more compassionate when faced with a patient who has questions, concerns and presents with symptoms from sedation during the procedure instead of sticking to the schedule with determination. I’m tempering my original words and clarifying that this is the experience of *one single person* and I’m not speaking for anyone else who goes to see Dr. Mehta. Perhaps he is great for them, he just was not for me. I don’t begrudge him that there IS a possibility that my situation may have been a very rare incident. To be fair, there is no way he could have known my reaction to the sedation, and it’s not his procedure that I had a problem with, it was his decision to go ahead with the procedure even with what the patient(me) was going through at the time. The endoscopy procedure itself was actually painless. Here is my slightly edited review: Dr Mehta I will not see again. I found him through my insurance for a GI doctor. I met with him one time and he advised a colonoscopy & endoscopy. It was my first colonoscopy & I had trouble with the prep, and called his office that Sunday night, he was unable to be reached. No one to call over the weekend?! How strange is that when you have a colonoscopy scheduled for first thing Monday morning? I was also having an endoscopy done at the same time, so I went to the procedure anyway without finishing the prep. He seemed angry with me.(maybe it was for some other reason, I don’t know) Instead of rescheduling the whole thing, he decided to do the Endo anyway. I asked about the sedation being used, wanted more information about it since I knew I have some issues with that stuff, i was given no info and no choice. They said Fentynl is what we always use. They simply started the IV and injected fentanyl into me. I had a bad reaction, I started having skipped irregular heartbeats, the monitors were beeping off the charts. They consulted with each other and Dr. Mehta said we’ll do it anyway & will go quickly. Without speaking to me without consulting with me, they put a black thing in my mouth told me to bite down, and shoved a tube down my throat. I was conscious and unsedated the entire time, in terror and afraid. With something in my mouth and down my throat I could not communicate this to the team. He finished the endoscope procedure. I went into the recovery room. As the fentanyl wore of my irregular heartbeat calmed down. I will not go back to this clinic.

I have heard the horror stories about getting a colonoscopy from drinking the prep juice and the procedure but Dr. Mehta was very professional. When I awoke who knows how many hours or minutes later I didn’t recall anything. That was easy ! — Dietrich Horsey
