Joseph Goheen

Joseph Goheen is a registered piano technician who has serviced our piano several times. He has also serviced our neighbor’s piano and our piano teacher’s pianos. Our piano is a console that is from the 1960s or so, the neighbor’s piano is an antique stand-​up and the piano teacher has two baby grands, one of which is an antique.
Mr. Goheen is marvelous. He cares very much about pianos and offers great advice on caring for the piano. He is very very nice and we are lucky that he was recommended to us. Rates are very reasonable. Our piano was making a funny squeaking noise and he got down on his hands and knees to find the problem. It took a while to figure out where the squeaking was coming from and Mr. Goheen found it. It turned out to be wood rubbing against wood. He fixed it and now when the kids play their sonatas and minuets, we don’t hear that annoying noise. Yes, we need a new piano, but we can’t afford it right now. We asked Mr. Goheen if we needed to have him come twice a year to tune our piano (as we had waited two years between tunings) and he said no, not until we get a new piano.
He did not charge extra for the extra work he did, even though it took extra time out of his schedule.
