Had the old fashioned burger and gyro. Both were incredible. This was probably the best burger patty I’ve ever had. Purchased a new york steak. I had never cooked a steak before, but it was delicious and tender. Ended up pan frying it with one of Safeway’s premade leek sauté kits.

I am leaving 1 star because there is no option to leave 0. The meat was good, but it was not good enough to salvage our experience at this place. This place is a joke… GROUPON users be warned! Read on if interested… We found this place through GROUPON, so we decided to take advantage of the good deal that was being offered. Pulling up to the place, we were a bit worried; but the smell of smoked meat drew us in. Beforehand, you must NOT mentally picture this as a local fancy supermarket butcher shop, otherwise you’ll be disappointed. The place was a little grubby with flies being frequent guests… even INSIDE the meat cases — pretty gross, but whatever… I got past that part pretty quickly. We were the only customers there, so the guy just kind of stood there awkwardly staring at us as my wife and I hashed out our desires. Some of the chicken had some slime-like junk on it from sitting out too long. Knowing that it was most likely spoiled, we decided to pick out some tasty looking beef and sausages instead. Getting ready to pay… I don’t know what it is about some of these places; but every once in a while you face that awkward moment when doing the official GROUPON exchange. THISWASONEOFTHOSEPLACES! They guy was not too pleased that we had it — he immediately began complaining about the ridiculously high percentage that GROUPON takes from his business for using the feature. He then begins to complain that his company would not stay in business for these GROUPON prices, as if WE were the ones who setup the GROUPON account for HIS business. After ranting for a minute, trying to make us feel bad for using HIS coupon… the ol’ bait & switch was on… In the middle of his rant he proceeded to tell us the pricing breakdowns. Ummm… come again? «This is the regular price(pointing to a LOWER price point)…and this is the price for people who are using a GROUPON(pointing to a HIGHER price point).» Are you freaking kidding me? You setup a GROUPON to draw customers in with a «good deal», and then you pull the ol’ bait & switch by telling them that they have to pay a higher price because they are using a GROUPON… consequently, you end up paying the full walk-in price anyways? What kind of «business» does that??? The entire purpose of a GROUPON is to provide discounts to draw in new traffic. Instead, since we purchased the GROUPON already, WE became the suckers and decided to just buy anyways from this snake oil salesman, who freely admits to screwing all of his GROUPON customers. Here is a little business advice to this crappy little butcher shop… IFYOUDON’T LIKETHEPRICINGOFYOURGROUPON/COUPON AGREEMENT(that YOU created), THENINSTEADOFSCREWINGYOURCUSTOMERS, SIMPLYSTOPUSINGTHEFREAKINGGROUPONPROGRAM! I work too freaking hard to throw my money away to some schmuck’s openly dishonest business practices! This place was an absolute joke… I will never be back.

Walking up to the place I was a bit skeptical at first. but once I walked in and was greeted by the friendly butcher. They have food cooked and ready to go or you can order a burger and they’ll cook it with their fresh Kobe ground beef. Their produce is fresh and local. I have to give it to them for being around so long and providing fresh and locally sourced meat and produce. They even have homemade hummus and potato salad I’ll have to try next time. I also picked up some wild bore bacon but I’m flying back to so cal tonight. So I told the butcher that and he double packed it in ice for me to take in the plane. Now the price are really good because everything is organic or all natural. They also have more exotic meats if you like to try new things. I would definitely go back and try more things.

Really like this place. It’s a small butcher shop, not your Safeway meat counter. The staff may be gruff at times but they are working the shop themselves and you have to be patient if they are busy. I’ve never been disappointed in the meat I buy there. I love the ground beef and bacon. I try something new, and sometimes out of my comfort range there because I trust the quality. If you are looking for Grocery store service or for someone to hold your hand the place is not for you. If you are able to wait for busy people to help you and ask intelligent questions about your choice you will love the place.

I been here several time, both with and without Groupn. Never had a problem with service or quality. Sure, it’s small, and they do their best to please the customer. But I learned long ago that you can’t please everybody. The ribs are great… yes, the menu is short, but if you need a big menu… go to Jack in The Box…

Although the Butcher Shop Café lacks in ambiance of any sort, the selection of meats available to purchase is top quality, and delicious. If you are going there to eat, you’re in for a treat. The menu is very limited, however the food quality gets 100%. They have he best burger in town.

Contacted via facebook(because no one answers their phone and the mailbox is perpetually full) about foie gras and was told they had some in stock, so I loaded my infant and toddler into the car and made the trip. Person on duty said they didn’t have it or at least not that she could find. Great. A wasted a trip. Contacted them again via FB a couple months later and said I was willing to try again. I got a phone call saying they had it and they asked me to call back. I called the number they left me the next day to make sure it was still there but there was no answer and their mailbox was full(AGAIN! Who does business like this?). I crossed my fingers and loaded my little girls in the car again(in their pjs because they are sick) and made the trip again. This time they had it. Horray! Then they tell me that their credit card machine is down and do I have cash? I did not have enough cash. They said, «Oh, sorry.» And that was it! I had to leave without it! If they had any customer service skills they’d have said, «How about I write down your cc number and I’ll run it when the machine is working again?» Or, «how about you send us a check for this amount?» Or «why don’t we call you when the machine is working again and you can pay over the phone?» I walked out shaking with anger because I’d let them burn me twice. I walked back in and burst into tears because I needed it for my husband for an anniverary gift and I couldn’t believe they were so inept at customer service — I’d tried so hard to purchase this from them — contacting or trying to contact them over and over. They got mad at me yelling, «The machine just went down this morning, lady!» I pointed out that if they answered their phone or checked their vmail, they could have told me that when I called them that morning to see if they still had the product! Finally the owner(who was standing there the whole time) grabbed the foie gras and rudely shoved it at me and said, «Just take it! Go! Go!» And that was my last interaction with them. Never again. I’m done! Mail ordered our foie gras directly from Hudson Valley(which is what they stock there) and saved money. Oh, and their smoked beef brisket is DRY!

If I could give 0 stars I would. First I am surprised nobody has called the health department on this place. Their«hot» case is warm and I feel like there were a lot of bugs flying around in the store too. Probably should’ve taken that as a sign and walked right back out… This place rants and raves about their smoked meat and we normally smoke our own meat, but decided last minute we wanted brisket and we were having company over. I went to The Butcher Shop Café right by my house and spent over $ 50 on smoked brisket. The brisket was severely undercooked to the point where no fat was rendered at all it was rare and extremely tough. Basically all I got was a brisket that was fast smoked and smoked horribly at that. I have purchased uncooked steaks here and they are overpriced and decent quality, but I can get better quality steaks at Costco in their prime section for less.

Both times I’ve gone in I got terrible service. It seemed very much like I was putting them out when asking a few questions — aren’t they the experts?!? Ugh. Frustrated cause I love supporting local business but they were just plain rude. :(

We drive past the shop often and purchased a Groupon to check it out. The girl working at the counter was not educated at all on their meats/poultry she actually said«you know know more than me…» Really? It is marketed as a butcher shop and«café» the lunch menu had TWO options… Hamburger or pulled pork sandwich. We ordered 2 pork sandwiches which were mediocre at best. I have several bites of fat. Not impressed. Was hoping that this would be a good find since it’s close to our home. We won’t go back. Also, horrible customer service one girl working up front went to the back and left customers waiting for 10 minutes…

Went here for lunch today, and everything was delicious. The café had a choice between a hamburger(plain or bacon bleu cheese) and a chicken burger. We ordered two bacon bleu cheese burgers and one of the chicken burgers, and the food did not disappoint. The meat was juicy and cooked perfectly. The fries were crispy and homemade. Both sandwiches came with a lot of toppings, but I would have added a few to make the burgers perfect. I haven’t tried the meat yet, but they had an impressive selection. I will be going back to get some!

Pretty good — came here because of a Groupon and everything was as advertised. A small hole-in-the-wall, roadside kind of place that served us tasty fresh burgers and let us spend the remainder of the voucher on house made beef jerky to go. The proprietor was there and cooked our food in between checking on a smoker he had going out front.

We had a groupon so went there for lunch on a Saturday. We arrived shortly after they opened. We ordered the Reuben, pulled pork and Philly cheese with fries, onion rings and potato salad as sides. The Philly cheese and the onion rings were the family favorites. The pulled pork’s BBQ sauce lacked flavor and the Reuben a bit cold. The fries were limp but still tasty. The potato salad was ok. We chose to wait and eat in the shop. The place was cold(well it’s a butcher shop), the refrigerators were loud(it was had to have a conversation) and the place was not the cleanest(again, it’s a butcher shop). There was also a lack of service. The orders took a long time to come out(30+ mins). And when it did, she came to our table, dumped the three styrofoam containers on the table, turned around and quickly walked away. There was no water and I don’t see them selling drinks. We did buy some stew meat in the end and they were of average quality but pretty fresh. In all, if you are getting food, prepare to wait and take out.

The main reason I go to a proper butcher shop is because the workers are knowledgeable. I went there to buy duck confit, which I had bought in the past and was quite good. The girl working at the counter didn’t know what duck confit was. She went to the back and said they only had duck legs, but not feet. I was confused and said, yes legs are what I want, duck confit. She looked very confused and in hindsight, I realize she had no idea what duck confit was and thought I was asking for«duck feet». Kind of funny if it wasn’t so sad. I didn’t look very closely and bought the whole pack at $ 50, and it turns out it wasn’t confit at all, just 6 raw duck legs. My wife and I got a good laugh out of it afterwards.

High quality cuts of meat you can’t find at QFC. Surprisingly the prices on these high quality meats are actually lower than the qfc prices for subpar meats.

Went to this place because of the Groupon I had purchased, unlike others, I knew it was for sit down food only, not on butcher shop items. First, it has only 2 small tables in the place. The menu is quite limited, we had the choice of a Reuben, Hamburger, or Philly Steak sandwich. The reuben was good but had a lot of fat on the meat. The Philly was good. Had fries that were wide cute but thinly sliced, they were very good. Potato salad was good, not your store bought kind, made fresh at the café. This is a tiny place that was quite busy. They could benefit from expanding the size of their«café». It you are looking for a butcher shop, Double D meats in Mountlake Terrace is much bigger with a better selection and cleaner appearance. Bottom line, would I go back to eat lunch? No. Although it was good, I would much rather go to someplace with more ambiance and a cleaner environment.

I am blown away by the quality of meat here. We had a Groupon, and luckily made it in just in time to get the last of some ribs and some awesome Kobe Brisket Tacos. Their fries were very unique, thin and airy, but VERY good. The cole slaw and the level of service when eating IN left something to be desired, but keep in mind, they’re first and foremost a butcher shop. We hauled home several selections from their case.

Stopped in tonight as I heard they had exotic meats. While they did, it was all frozen and I needed something for dinner. Settled on the 50⁄50 ground beef and lamb patties. Delicious! I’m planning on going back on Sunday for their ‘happy hour’ to pick up some game meat and maybe some nice ribeyes.
