I was in need of some BBQ and this place totally satisfied my craving. The ribs I had were amazing. I loved them and the hush puppy rings. Yes, they have hush puppy rings. I can’t wait until I get to go back to this place.

I’ve lived in Winston-Salem for quite some time & I will drive to Prissy Polly’s just for their eastern style BBQ b/c I have not yet came across ANY triad restaurant that sells that style of BBQ! Let me just say that it’s worth the drive. If you’re from Eastern NC, Prissy Polly’s eastern style BBQ taste very similar to Parker’s BBQ! I promise, you will love it! I was referred here by the owner himself & I’ve been hooked ever since. I’ve only tried the eastern style BBQ sandwich combo with fries, hushpuppies, & sweet tea(around $ 6.50) & all is delicious!

This is a solid local BBQ joint, convenient to Business 40 and to a lesser extent, I-40. I liked the BBQ a lot although I didn’t taste much smoke and the long pieces of pulled pork were a bit cumbersome to eat without cutting. The sides were pretty good. I’m glad I came on a day they have collards although they were a little too sweet for my preference. I also thought all the religious rhetoric was a bit over the top especially a sign that indicated all but Christians will wait for the rapture or something like that. It’s a private business and they can believe and decorate how they choose. But I felt the extent and tone of some of their wall signs didn’t make for a universally welcoming environment. The restroom smelled slightly of sewage and was a little dirty for a visit so early in the day.

Absolute best baby back ribs I have ever eaten. Hubby ordered the incredible fried chicken. First time visit and, even though we live hour and a half away, we will certainly be back. Congratulations to Greg and family for a job well done.

Prissy Polly’s has never let me down when I’m in the mood for BBQ. Their sides are good but can occasionally be bland.

My first time having BBQ in NC was at this dreadful place. I ordered the brisket which was the special of the day and it came out swimming in grease. The meat was all chopped up and mostly burnt. Needless to say this was a huge disappointment.

We have been going to Polly’s ever since we first moved into the area over twenty years ago. It was a much smaller place back then. Although in those twenty years they’ve built and moved into a larger building and now have four times the workforce, one thing has not changed. This is, without question, the BEST East Carolina barbecue(not to mention the BESTRIBS) in the Triad!

The highlight of this BBQ place is that it has Eastern & Lexington style BBQ, but they do have a veggie plate for those who don’t eat meat! They also have a drive through. The inside feels like an indoor picnic. There are wood tables with plaid table covers. There is a whiteboard at the front with the day’s specials and any upcoming events. There is an open corridor where you line up to make your order at the counter and they bring to wherever you decide to sit. I got the backyard BBQ chicken plate(cooked with Lexington BBQ sauce) with mac-n-cheese & fried okra. I also tried the mashed potatoes and the hush puppies. Honestly, everything was as good as I was expecting it to be, but I do have high expectations. We got chocolate cobbler & apple crisp for dessert. The chocolate cobbler should really be renamed to «chocolate bread pudding». The apple crisp was perfect though. They messed up two members of my party’s orders. One was corrected immediately while the other was never brought to their attention. I wish we had come on a night with live music because I would have loved to see that.

This was my first visit to Prissy Pollys. I have heard it’s solid with a few unique sides. Mostly good and a few minor disappointments. The Good: — I really liked the hush puppies. They are shaped like an onion ring and because I got my order to go I thought they screwed up for a moment. — I also liked the BBQ potatoes. I had never seen that before and it is sort I a chopped up new potato with a BBQ like flavor. — The staff was very friendly and I believe the owner(or manager) came out and greeted each guest. It’s also a large space with plenty of seating and very clean. — As a tip they do offer a drive through — hard to see it on side. — Fried chicken was good, would have it again but not make a special trip. Two disappointments: — I was trying to be good and ordered the grilled chicken but they were out. It means the food is fresh, but still frustrating. — I did not care for the baked beans. It has 3 types of beans in it and did not work for me. They have plenty of sides so maybe go in another direction. Overall nice place and would go back. Not a BBQ fan so will come back for a music night maybe.

Hands down one of the best bbq places I’ve ever been to and I’ve eaten a lot of bbq. Prissy Polly’s competes with the established places in Lexington. I have to eat here every time I come to Kernersville. I even had them cater my rehearsal dinner a few years ago. To start, if you are going here for anything other than bbq then you are there for the wrong reason. It is a bbq restaurant after all. Why would anyone order ribs, chicken, or a salad? The Eastern style with Lexington sauce is my favorite. It is a marriage of two great North Carolina traditions that you can’t really find other places. The meat is moist and flavorful. The sauces do a great job complementing the meat. The hush puppies are also excellent. This is a great down local place that serves excellent cue. Five stars for sure.

Take one bite of Prissy Polly’s hand breaded fried chicken, known on the menu as Pauline’s Fried Chicken, and you’ll cry out, «Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner!» Each piece of hot, crunchy chicken was huge. I don’t know the varieties of poultry well… perhaps they used a Cornish Cross, Orpington, Barred Rock, or a flipping PTERODACTYL. Use both hands and navigate that hefty plate to one of the red and white checked gingham covered tables. Irresistible accompaniments include«O-Ring» hushpuppies(My Precious) and red bliss Potato Salad loaded with cheese and bacon.

This is one of my favorite BBQ places in NC. I don’t consider it the best BBQ, but combined with the atmosphere it improves the rating greatly. It’s a very friendly place, the staff and more so the customers are all happy. You can choose between Eastern or Lexington style BBQ, I always go with Eastern because I like spicy vinegar sauces. I get the plate which comes with 2 sides and hushpuppies. I always enjoy the hushpuppies, and I think they make really good sides here, which is the mark of a quality BBQ place. Normally the mac and cheese and either the green beans, collards, or cabbage are my choices. What I really love is they have folk/bluegrass every Thursday and Saturday from 6 – 8:30. I like to stop here Saturday evenings after hiking and relax and enjoy the music. I’m not really a fan of bluegrass, but the live bands are always good and lots of elderly folk show up and dance around. It is a great stop for dinner on these nights. One drawback, no alcohol. I would really love a beer after my hikes and they don’t serve alcohol.

Tried this place in a whim one day after hearing good reviews of it. My husband and I went and weren’t blown away. Food was mediocre, not seasoned well. They do have live music on occasion. So if you like barbecue and live music, this would be a place for you.

This is another local place we’d not been to in awhile, so we took the opportunity recently to pickup some of their BBQ. The interesting aspect of this restaurant, for some folks anyway, is that it offers both Eastern and Lexington style barbecue. This is really not all that rare, as there are probably 100 or more restaurants in the state that do basically the same thing, adding one sauce or the other once the pork is chopped(or give you the sauces and you make the choices), or in this case, pulled — so for the barbecue purist, the restaurants that do that are really offering a hybrid form of barbecue rather than a true Eastern or Lexington style. The pork here is not cooked over hardwood coals, so there is only a hint of smokiness, another difference between the barbecue here and that served down the street at Clark’s, for example. The final difference, and no small one, imo anyway, is that the meat is pulled, not chopped, which completely changes the texture of the finished product. When the meat is in long, stringy pieces it is rather difficult to eat, and it doesn’t hold the sauce as well — there is no «pull» in traditional NC barbecue, whatever the style. Having said all of that, the barbecue here is solid, but is a ways behind the better barbecue in the area, whichever style. They are a little pricey, as well — a pound of the barbecue here is just short of $ 12, tax included, better than $ 1 a pound more than just down the road.

As a connoisseur of fine swine, I would give this restaurant good marks! You can select from Eastern style BBQ or the superior BBQ, Lexington style. The helpings are gracious, and side items included beans and wonderfully cooked cabbage. The hush puppies are fried to perfection! The atmosphere included Merle Haggard on the radio and tables covered in picnic table cloth. Great food!

Another Unilocal recommendation, but I would rate this one middle of the pack. I ordered the combo plate so I could try a bit of everything. Two different preparations of pulled pork, sweet and vinegar. Both were ok. Also included chicken which disappointed. I chose BBQ beans and sweet slaw as my two sides. Beans were a mix of colors and sizes with very little seasoning. The slaw was very good, and as the name implies, slightly sweet! Also a bright spot were the hush puppies… To round out my meal I tried the banana pudding, and felt the same«average“about my dessert. Overall cost was $ 15 which is barely above my expectations for price, but taste was not in alignment. I am glad I tried another BBQ joint in this region, but I can’t say this would be a favorite to garner a return visit.

I like this local place. Very very casual with nice sides for your BBQ. My husband LOVES the brunswick stew and when it’s fresh and good, it’s divine. Green beans are pretty good. I love getting the ½ and ½ combo of Eastern and Western style then putting western sauce(with texas pete or Sriracha) on the Eastern BBQ. Ha! How’s that for a compromise??? It’s been a while since I had the shrimp but when I’ve had it, it’s been good. Great drive-thru for those nights when you need your Q on the fly.

Stopped for lunch on my way from Winston-Salem to Greensboro airport. Conveniently located just off the interstate between the two cities. I’m not a BBQ expert but I enjoy good ribs and when in the south I make it a point to partake. I’m not a big fan of the vinegary sauce that this region is known for so I ordered the baby back ribs which was delicious and just what I imagined. Good Ribs are not cheap and this lunch of half slab, two vegetables and hush puppies with iced tea set me back $ 18.50. And the ribs weren’t particularly large so I felt I could have eaten another few ribs. The restaurant is clean and well run with a spacious seating area. Buy at the counter, wait for your number and grab a seat. There was an elderly gentleman bussing tables and passing out extra hush puppies(which were very tasty), a nice touch. Very nice establishment and a worthwhile stop.

I cannot say enough about this place. Prissy Polly’s, in my opinion, is the best BBQ spot in the triad. It has everything one could ask for: Great service, great management, live music, wide selection, amazing food, good sweet tea, and fun atmosphere. Prissy Polly’s offers both Lexington and Eastern style BBQ, so it appeals to both sides of the BBQ debate. Personally, I am a fan of Eastern style and this is the best of it that you can find in the piedmont. The sides are delicious as well. The slaw is a mustard based slaw and thank goodness isn’t «bbq» slaw. The hush puppies accompany every order and are so fluffy and appetizing. They are shaped like onion rings. Another fun and interesting thing about this place is the fact that they have bluegrass nights on both Thursday and Saturday. The music is always a good time, but what makes it great is the crowd that comes out. The locals that come out have a good time and dance to the music, which is entertaining. This is also definitely a family friendly place. The best thing about Prissy Polly’s is the staff. Everyone is friendly and helpful. They have great service. The owner is a good old boy who values his customers and knows what it takes to bring people back. He treats everyone with respect and interacts with everyone to see how he can make the experience even better. The owner is a class act and the BBQ joint is as well.
