We booked the«romance package» for a weekend and were blown away. We decided to go the ocean room for dinner on our first night and were blown away. We were pampered and taken care of wonderfully throughout our entire meal. My wife was in her third trimester and has certain dietary restrictions that were met with no hassles. Restaraunt is pricey but I felt we got what we paid for! Would really recommend

We had an amazing experience here from top to bottom. The food was amazing! The service was impeccable! My wife and I both said it was the best meal we have had in YEARS! We will definitely be back! Highly recommend, even if you are not staying at the resort!

We were a group of 11 women, all childhood friends, having a reunion on Kiawah Island. The restaurant put us in a lovely private room, that was perfect for the occasion! Our waiter was attentive and knowledgable. The food was good, although some in our party were not as pleased as others. The wine list was quite extensive, however the on-line selections we had chosen prior to our arrival, were not present on the list. Would like to have seen more offerings in the $ 40-$ 50 price range. The wines we selected proved nice. The Sanctuary is very well appointed and has a nice ambience. Since our group was all together celebrating our 2015 — 60th birthday, the restaurant added a nice touch by having a gentleman from their staff come in and serenade us with a beautiful rendition of «Happy Birthday». That was great fun!

Let me start by saying that my server(s) were excellent, as was the beautiful ambiance. However, I go to a restaurant for the food and it was a huge disappointment here. I don’t care to pay $$$$$ for thoughtful, delicious, and well executed food, but it’s upsetting to shell out a huge amount of money for totally ordinary plates. The salad was pathetic w a few tiny bits of vegetables, the lobster bisque was strange tasting, our grouper dinners were TINY and the 6 – 8 incredibly small(like less than 1″) roasted vegetables surrounding it were hard as a rock. The dinner plates had«foam» on them to try and look fancy… was just soooo disappointing, bland and unimpressive– especially for the price. I suggest going for a drink to enjoy the beautiful view and room, but pass on the extremely overpriced and under impressive food.

Below average steakhouse. Poor menu. Appears to be upscale fine dining, but falls very short. Nothing great about it.

Had dinner here last Wednesday. The restaurant was beautiful and classy and the service was great. The food was good but not superb and it took them a very long time to serve food between apps and entrees. The lag time between servings was uncharacteristically long especial when you are at a top notch restaurant. I had the grouper which was a special fish that evening and it was a bit overlooked. My father had it as well and thought the same. The side dish of lobster Mac & cheese and whipped mashed potatoes were both very good in taste and proportion. Everyone Working there was very friendly and the desserts were pretty good. I tried chocolate cake with butterscotch and it was delicious.

Everything was perfect! Service was friendly and included great recommendations. Of course, the stool for your Purse is special. Filet and grouper outstanding.

This review pertains to the sushi lounge dining only. One of the nicest dining options in the Sanctuary hotel is the lounge at the Ocean Room. They serve fresh fish and have a wonderful selection of cocktails and wines. Perhaps the best part is that you can opt for the a la carte menu also served in the main dining room so the flexibility here really makes for a perfect vacation meal. The décor makes you feel like you’re in a traditional library/bar in a home… rich colors, comfy leather chairs, banquettes and tables placed all around. We sat by the window and had a limited view of the ocean at night. Starting with a selection of sashimi and sushi from the chef, we were not disappointed. The selection and preparation was not what we are used to in NYC, but the cuts were perfection and the pieces handsomely portioned and very fresh. We then split the tuna entrée which was seared and prepared in an Asian style-delicious. The sautéed spinach served in a small cast iron skillet was also very good. But the stars of this meal were actually the desserts! I had fresh made blueberry sorbet served on a plate with three canneles of fruit sorbet and these elegant rice Krispy style crunchies. Seriously who would think sorbet would be this wonderful? My husband’s two selection cheese course was perfection-the Parmesan was out of this world and the soft locally sourced cow’s milk cheese very good. The accompaniments are spectacular… raisin rosemary crisps, mini breadsticks etc and the presentation is very nice. Our two servers-one was more of a sommelier/drink server and the other handled the food-made this a wonderful, relaxed and fun dining experience. You might want to dress up just a little since the lounge is not all that casual, but really an extension of the adjacent formal Ocean Room steakhouse next door. And be prepared for a hefty check since all of this does not come cheap-but it really is worth it for a nice evening out.
