Such a bummer because i was so pumped to have a vegan friendly option in the area… i went there and the very young waitress(15?) carries on a conversation with someone while i wait, trying to get her attention to take my order(you order up front at the register) for several minutes… i should have known this same person would fuck up my order– i have a severe gluten allergy and clearly stated i wanted a gluten free bun– i ate it and started feeling funny immediately– upon going back to the register and double checking what it was, she said she didnt know i wanted it to be gluten free and laughed about it. they gave me a refund, but the staff is made up of young girls who have no customer service skills or experience… huge let down. also it is too expensive.

I was driving through the Quiet Corner on my way to Hartford and started looking through Unilocal for a place to grab lunch and stumbled upon this place. It is sort of hard to find — I drove past it the first time — because you have to go up a steep hill to the parking lot and then walk down to the front door. We ordered from the counter inside, although there was a line and there was pressure to order even though we hadn’t really decided yet. We both ordered sandwiches and iced chais. I agree with the earlier reviews that suggest that for the price, one should really receive a side with the sandwich such as a bag of chips or even some homemade potato or cucumber salad. We were definitely still hungry after our sandwiches, but the quality of the ingredients was great. The dining room was hopping so it was challenging to get a table, and then we felt pressured to just finish up and leave because of folks hovering for a table.

UnilocalED«breakfast sandwich» while heading down 395s. Never thought I’d write a dining review but this place deserves 5 stars. Great vibe outside, lovely potted plants and garden seating and an enticing aroma that beckons you in. I was met with a calm and inviting vibe the moment I stepped inside. Everyone from the young lady who took my order to the cooks in the kitchen(humming a Sonny and Cher song) seemed so happy and peaceful. Their happiness comes through in the food. I took one bite of the OUTSTANDING scrambled egg and avocado burrito… Then 3 more bites, put it down and had to write this review. The«house blend» coffee is perfectly smooth too with a nice wake-me-up kick to it. I have to get back on the road now but needless to say this will be a regular stop for me along the 395 corridor. I can’t wait to experience more offerings from their organic, local menu!!! Thank you Heritage staff for making my day

Probably my favorite lunch spot in all of CT. Food is healthy, organic, pretty too look at an amazing to eat. You will have a guilt-free delicious time here. The avocado cheddar sandwich is one my favorites, along with the monkey business smoothie and the vegan chocolate chip cookies. Everything is out of this world. I wish I lived closer because I’d go more often. The atmosphere is also awesome and the tunes are on point

Stumbled upon this hidden gem while hiking in the area. I was very pleasantly surprised when I entered this cozy little place and saw all kinds of healthy and raw food choices, as well as smoothies(which is incidently what I’d been craving — lucky me!) Free wifi too, which was nice because my phone service wasn’t too great all the way out in the boonies. I loved everything I tried and left feeling great after a large meal and smoothie. Hope I will be back in this area someday so I can stop by here again. My compliments to the owners of this awesome place, you’re doing a great job!

What a pleasant surprise this eatery is! Its food is wholesome and fresh and mostly local, and except for the few tuna and bird and egg items, all the other dishes either already are vegan or can be served vegan, including with the option of vegan cheeze and nut milks. The food and the intimate interior both are unique. While the interior is small in square-footage, it hosts many nooks and crannies that act almost like booths, so a private dining experience is very possible here. Even better, there are two outdoor eating areas, the shaded one literally overlooking Main Street. Exotic plants loaned from the exotic greenhouses of nearby Logee’s(well worth your visit) decorate both indoors and outdoors, so try to visit during the outdoors growing season, as the plants are especially beautiful. And more importantly, the plant-based foods are delicious and nutritious. While Danielson is out-of-way in the very northeast very quiet corner of the state, the restaurant is located only one mile off exit 38 of Interstate 395, and is easy to find on Main Street, with ample private parking. But time your visit well, as it is open very limited hours.

*** BESTBEETBURGER in… USA *** Although, I have to admit, I obviously haven’t tried EVERY beet burger in the U. S… but I’m guessing if I did I would still say this was my #1 fav… I don’t know how they do it but it is truly the most delicious thing on the planet. That on top of a salad with their vegan dill ranch dressing… so amazing. A must try for sure!

Wonderful first visit(of more to come) to this little gem! We ventured out to Heirloom for breakfast this morning and everyone was pleased — our group included a gluten-free eater, a vegan, and a toddler. Lots of great options for vegan/veggie and non-vegan alike. And the raw chocolate medjool date smoothie was amazing! Our 2 year old daughter took a sip and wouldn’t give it back. The restaurant itself is comfortable, rustic and welcoming. Definitely worth a visit!

This café is amazing. Superior ambiance. Great food. The Curried Tofu is a delight. The pumpkin smoothie is delish. The down side, the location is not the best, and the prices for the food are too high. Because of this I will be back but not quite often. So hard to find healthy eating choices without breaking the bank.

How did I not know about this restaurant? We had lunch here for the first, bust most certainly not the last, time! There is so much more on the menu to try! First, I’m so excited about the organic and largely local foods used! Even the really fab coffee mugs are locally made! Second, I’m excited about the mostly vegetarian options. Third, I’m excited about the many gluten free choices! Fourth, everything here from food, to service, to friendly staff, to atmosphere, everything excited me! I only wish it was closer to home! My green lemonade, with kale, was yummy! My Beta Burger was a delicious veggie burger, big on taste! Coffee was smooth and fresh and a great as I gobbled down a gf banana chocolate chip muffin! Lunch partners were equally delighted with various grilled cheese sandwiches and the turkey sandwich. My mother-in-law, who isn’t the most adventurous eater, loved her Berliner grilled cheese and chips. She enjoyed her Monkey Business smoothie, although together they were too filling for her to finish. Everyone else was delighted to help her clean her plate! Nothing was left! There is ample outdoor and indoor seating. I loved that we weren’t all crowded together and could enjoy our conversation without dealing with everyone else’s. The restaurant is handicapped accessible and the space inside made maneuvering my MIL’s wheelchair was easy! The menu is posted on chalkboards and you order/pay at the counter. Friendly staff will deliver your food. We all left feeling satisfied and happy having enjoyed tasty and healthy food! I can’t wait to return! Note: closed Sunday and Monday.

My favorite place in the area. Options are so limited around here, and this is a great, fresh, new addition to our quiet corner. Must try the monkey business smoothie, and the turkey veggie avocado sandwich! Heirloom will exceed your expectations in terms of food, atmosphere, and quality.

A very, very welcome addition to the area. For those looking to get off the paleo diet, the Beta Burger is your gateway burger. Truly. HFC is the kind of local, authentic food voice that the Quiet Corner could use more of.

My boyfriend was working near Killingly for a few weeks and I stumbled across this place one weekend while looking for healthy food options. This place is very quaint and cute inside. There’s seating both indoors and out so you can eat there or take your food to go. They also have a small section that sells random health store items like hand-made soaps, body lotions, etc. I loved that near the food board, they have another board saying where their various foods come from(mostly local places, another plus). They offer both breakfast and lunch, but we were there around lunch time so we got sandwiches. I got the turkey and avocado sandwich with vegan cheese. I really like that the turkey was nitrate free and that they offered vegan cheese. The sandwich itself was very tasty and the veggies were super fresh. I also got the Beta-carotene juice with added bee pollen, which was again very tasty. I don’t remember what my boyfriend ordered but I know he was equally happy with his choice of sandwich and juice. At this point you’re probably wondering why I haven’t given this place 5 stars. This place had one major flaw that was worth an entire star demotion and it’s that they are CLOSEDONSUNDAYS! As mentioned above they do serve breakfast, and while ordering lunch, I was excited to return the next day for breakfast and coffee.(Yes, I am an official foodie that likes to plan my next meal before my current one has even started) There really isn’t much in the way of health food in this area of CT, and given that I have some food restrictions and strong preferences for organic, I was supremely disappointed. In my opinion, if you serve coffee and breakfast, you should at least be open Sunday mornings. Besides that this place was very good and I would go back :)

This place is AMAZING!!! Not just for vegans. The food is fabulous. I tried the bean burger and it was the best sandwich that I have had in a long time. I eat out almost every day of the week, so I know good food and this place has EXCELLENTFOOD!!! I brought home some hummus for my husband and it is excellent; just how hummus should be, perfection. I also tried their homemade chickpea soup and rice soup and I give it a ten out of a ten. Last but not least, I tried one of their little pastry crème sandwiches and it was so awesome that I bought one to take home. So nice to see a restaurant that offers healthy food choices that are still tasty. I will definitely be back. Love this place. Super friendly and inviting atmosphere. Fun, hip, and chic. Love it!!! Ten stars!!!

Veggie-which. Sunrise blend juice. It has a good vibe. Things to understand if you want to eat in: Order first then go sit with a table marker. Im really loving the California feel. Good for brunch. The sandwich was excellent. They know how to make a veg sandwich. Damn. Pics added. I eat everything. So not a vegetarian. But there is nothing that says I can’t make vegetarian choices. I will be lunching here on my shopping days from now on. They also have breakfast: non vegetarian options available, like eggs, tuna, turkey… im sure there is more, but that’s what a noticed.
