This is a wonderful place to spend a romantic winter weekend! The staff really takes good care of you, especially Catherine. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and exactly what you should expect from a national park. Everyone went out of their way to make our stay as comfortable as we had hoped, even though we were there for an extra night because of the snow. We can’t wait to go back.

The Osso Buco Christmas Eve dinner special was best meal during our stay so far. The sauce was great and helped made the meal. Even though you might feel trapped we enjoyed our meals. Talk to the wait staff about mixing it up a bit. We did.

Beer and wine at a state park! We got here later in the evening and split a ½ pound burger fries and salad which were all very good and reasonably priced and it was plenty. We didn’t spit the brews though.

Service was better than most of the reviews. The chili was the best and most affordable at $ 4 per bowl. Like most restaurants in the National Parks, they ran out of things on Sunday. No cheese for the chili. Oh well, things could be worse. Waitresses were pleasant and efficient.

Giving this place 5⁄5 stars because it was absolutely amazing after all the other restaurants/businesses I’ve had to deal with while visiting Sequoia and King’s Canyon National Park. FOOD: Their food might not be somewhere I would crave or go out of the way to get, but honestly compared to all the places I’ve eaten this weekend, this place is gourmet! We grabbed the Burger and wings, and both were actually really great and the price was much lower than what we had grown accustomed to paying after this weekend. SERVICE: The service is probably the biggest reason I’m giving this place a 5⁄5. After spending time in Sequoia and Kings Canyon this weekend, I basically had to accept that because it was a national park and there was nowhere else to go, everyone would treat you like complete shit. Luckily and surprisingly, this was not at all the case here. Not only was the service at this restaurant great, they were extremely friendly and helpful and when I needed to get some work done they allowed me to stay at the table after I finish my meal and just utilize the free wifi. When they were finally closing down and turning off their lights(2 hours after their posted business hours) they even recommended a nearby location I could use to get some more work done. Super surprised and impressed by this location. Especially since I had a horrible experience with the affiliated housing/lodging office on the same day.

For years I have been to this Restaurant, many people have a very low review on this place. When I was young it was really good always full and wow the service very attentive and the service no complaints… as the years went by the food and the service started to decline but the prices kept going higher and higher. Oh well huh? things changes, the food is ok, just got to get lucky who’s serving you and the time you get there. There are dishes that are pretty good, you’ll be the judge of that. As for me, I drive all the way down to Visalia to eat in a decent Restaurant …

Not a good place. Really only came here twice as we stayed nearby at the John Muir Lodge. First night they ran out of veggie burgers, so I got a regular burger that was dry and overlooked. Half of us got our food then about 15 minutes later the other half of us got our food. My friend was happy with his buffalo wings and my wife pizza with white sauce wasn’t bad, but really wouldn’t be called good either. The second night we got our food to go. Waitress was kind of annoyed that we didn’t have the menu memorized and wanted us to go find them, got some beer while we waited and they do have a good variety of bottles, but I don’t think anything on tap. The food quality the second night was similarly mediocre, but the kids were happy with Mac n cheese and fruit… maybe that would have been the thing to get. I got a Caesar that was just gross; too much dressing and packed next to the warm stuff so it got all greasy and gross. Also discovered that the burger I got before was a size smaller that I ordered, hadn’t realized it until say the full size on the next night.

People give this place some flack about speed and food options. Considering it’s in the middle of nowhere and this is the only restaurant for miles, the food ain’t too bad and it has a great small town feel.

Best restaurant you’ll ever get around here. The food is not bad actually for this kind of place. Though the service is slow but understandable, price is a bit high.

Worst lunch I have ever had. Came here with the family. Waited over 1 hour for our food to arrive after two attempts by our waitress to excuse the slow service. Saw four other tables walkout after no service. We were so hungry… when our order came, the burger bun was hard as a rock, including the french fries. They actually tried to serve soda at room temperature with no ice. DONOTGO!

I guess after reading we didn’t catch them on an off day after all. Service was incredibly slow and food was good enough. They’re probably only in business still because they are the only game in town. Allegedly they are under new management but don’t hold your breath. I don’t see them working out the kinks any time soon. Between hostess, servers and kitchen, no one seemed to have their act together. We also weren’t the only ones having this kind of experience. Many tables waited over an hour for food. It took us 30 min to get a water. Not a horrible place if you have time, patience, and are hungry.

If you are starving you can’t complain about the food you get… actually you can if it’s from this restaurant. Slow service… and not the greatest service either. I was hoping the food would redeem it, but it didn’t. Got garlic fries, they tasted like when you leave fries out for a couple hours. Then when we got our pepperoni pizza the thin crust was undercooked. It was still doughy. Had to ask to put it back in the oven. A couple of the workers were helpful which made it up but they weren’t our server. All in all, it’s not the greatest but hey at least it’s food.

Service wasn’t spectacular — one waitress for the entire restaurant. Granted — we went off season but the restaurant was about 75% full. We weren’t sure if we should wait to be seated or of it was a seat yourself. After a few minutes or waiting and no sign or indication, we grabbed menus and sat ourself.(A few groups after us did the same so I’m still not sure if we were supposed too…) My group got the burger and salmon cakes. Salmon cakes were small($ 10 appetizer) but delicious. The corn remuloaude was fantastic! Had a taste of the burger — was ok not great, but my table mate had taken the sautéed mushrooms off.(I ate them all– they were pretty tasty). Overall –pleasantly surprised with decent food but slightly pricey. However, what do you expect with limited options and having to drive food in! Unfortunately the single waitress(not her fault) was definitely not enough staff at dinner. Other reviews make me believe that it is a common problem.

Pathetic service. Left the restaurant after 20 mins of inactivity. No one came to take order despite noticing a family waiting for someone to take the order. Worst customer service.

Like the other review states, this is the only restaurant around for miles. Went here for both breakfast and dinner; and both times, we had terrible service, as it was both slow and complacent. They’re scraping the bottom of the barrel with the servers they’ve got up there. The food was okay, dinner better than breakfast, as it seemed as if my egg and potatoes had been warmed up in the microwave, and DONOT get the fruit, looked like it had been cut a few days ago. I suggest bringing all the food you need, OR order to go and eat it by the fireplace at the lodge.

Extremely slow service, people left because of it, took 10 minutes to get water. Only restaurant around for miles. Quite expensive — burger was $ 14. Burger and rolls good, clam chowder horrendous, tea lukewarm. There were tables from lunch still not cleared at dinner!!!
