I really like this place. It’s a spanish bar with really good spanish food. I tried my first pupusas here and I really liked them. They come with a nice cabbage salad(forgot what they call it) and it’s good. My fav. is the one with pork! I also had their carne asada with rice and beans which was very yummy too, well seasoned and fresh tasting. Now the people that visit are mostly spanish people that speak spanish, yes, but it still has a nice atmosphere to sit and have drinks and hang. If you get intimidated by that type of thing, then I wouldn’t come here. The people at the bar go to have a good time and drink and sometimes even sing over the mic! Now they all don’t have the best voices, but it’s funny and entertaining! LOL! They do play music, so sometimes it isn’t quiet around the bar, but you can ask to be seated in the back seating area. It is much quieter back there and a family or couple can sit and enjoy their meal separated from everyone. Drinks are always very strong and inexpensive. Shots are inexpensive too. They have a simple but very good margarita. Staff is also very accommodating and friendly. When my boyfriend and I walk in and sit, the waitress immediately comes over and says«Shots? Jose? 2?» I think we made an impression! Don’t judge us! Our go to place on Friday nights and sometimes Saturday to hang when we want good food and good drinks/shots!

You can’t beat the price here! I almost thought the check was wrong. The food is really good. We got tamales and pupusas. Very quick service. The place is a hole in the wall, but sometimes those are the best places to eat. Worth a try!

I need to go to Pupuseria Mi Ranchito more often and get something besides the pupusas, but when I go I cannot help myself. The pupusas are YUMMY and tasty. I am always bringing friends here; thank you Pupuseria Mi Ranchito!!!

Forget the lack of ambience, the El Salvadorian/Mexican food is simply. fantastic. You must try the pupusas. Ours was a combination of cheese, refried beans and shredded chicken. The handmade tamales are beyond praise. Do visit and help this small business survive. Kingston, NY is the better for it.

Every visitor to our great town is honored with a meal at pupuseria mi ranchita. With the exception of one of the girlfriends of a friend who complained that the margaritas were made from a mix(), most seem to leave as thrilled as we are with the authentic food and great prices. I can’t get enough of the pupusa’s. A combo dish of two pupusa’s which I feel is the specialty of a place with this name with the creamy tasty beans and homey toppings is enough for me and most others. I will never get tired of this place! Highly recommended as a Kingston must if you like things on the quirky side. The ultra loud spanish/mexican music adds to the whole experience, even if you do end up shouting through your meal. Highly recommended.

This is a classic ethnic food goldmine that real foodies will LOVE! The décor is plain but the food is authentic and fabulous and very affordable. We eat here or get take out at least once a month. Surprisingly it’s also one of the best brunch options in our little city of Kingston. Always a table and never an unhappy diner at the end of the meal. My wife and I love taking people here for the first time. Try the pupusas, casamiento y chimol, plaintains con crema, corn tamale con crema, and anything else on the«Remind of Salvador» part of the menu.

Very good food, incredibly affordable and fast. I have always done take out, the cheese pupsas are my favorite and the curtido is excellent.

Fantastic, authentic, unusual taste of El Salvador. Good bet for fun dinner in Kingston. Straying too far from the pupusas can be dicey.

Yes, it seems to be a bar(mostly frequented by spanish speakers) with some food available. Bring earplugs, the jukebox(evidently filled with spanish cowboy music) is cranked up to 11 and makes any conversation difficult, if not impossible. Pupusas, about $ 2 each with curtido and sauce. Lots more on the menu, but it was kind of dark inside and I could not read all the menu items. Good taste, but El Rey del Pollo III(next door) is less divey and quieter.

So good! The pupusa are delicious, so much flavor. I got the combination minced pork, cheese, and beans. Again, so good. The place itself is quite divey, but the food is outstanding!

This is a great hole-in-the-wall on Broadway in Kingston. There didn’t seem to be too many choices in the immediate area, and we LOVE a good pupusa, so we were super happy to find this place on the Unilocal mobile app. We sat at the bar. There may have been more tables at the back. We later heard this used to be a pretty-well known bar, but had been taken over by new owners. The pupusas themselves were very good, and the curtido(pickled cabbage salad) was above average. The chicharrones were a bit over-cooked, but tasty! There was only one tap working, so we opted for bottles of Negra Modelo. The prices were very reasonable, and we left stuffed. We would definitely return next time we’re in the area.

(04/27/2012) Drove by, saw it, made to U-turn just to get to it. Can’t pass up a chance for a good pupusa. We stopped by at a weird time of day(4-ish) and I think they were surprised to see us. We were on our way to a function, so probably also a wee bit(way) overdressed. Place is pretty divey and not all that welcoming; Spanish is the predominant language spoken here. We ordered cheese, pork, and refried bean pupasas to-go. Came with a medium-spicy salsa verde and tart-salty pickled red cabbage, great cool crunchy and herby foil to the hot, chewy, crisped, pupusas. The cheese ones were oozy, stringy, salty, almost to excess, but so good; the bean-filled were smooth and salty; the pork was pulled and tender, slight spice of chilis, perked up with a squeeze of lime. If you’re into cheap eats and dive bars, this is your place.

Salvadoran restaurant in a former steakhouse on the rather battered Broadway serving excellent pupusas with the very tasty curtido cabbage slaw. Also terrific plantains with sweet cream. Give the chicharones a miss.
