If your going for tires, Sears in kingston is absolutely wonderful! The service guy Danny is super polite and on top of everything! I’m beyond impressed with my service here today!

This portion of Sears is ridiculous, and should not even be in business. I’m not going into the full story of what the«mechanic» did to my car, but to sum it up: I was told the alternator, which was probably perfectly fine in the first place, needed to be replaced. Turned out it was the battery. Long story short, an «auto tech» put the wrong size battery in my car which resulted in a melted fuse box and other issues. I wound up taking it to the dealership to be fixed, and what should have been a $ 150 repair job wound up being a $ 1600 repair job. Whenever I asked for a manager, which I did several times throughout this mess, there was always an excuse… he’s on vacation, he’s on lunch, blah blah blah. My mistakes: bringing my car here out of convenience when it broke down at the mall instead of waiting for the next day until the dealership was open, not knowing enough about my car to know what was going on at Sears was a shoddy repair job and shoddy business, and not taking the two«auto techs» who messed up my car to small claims. Even if I did pursue a small claims case, it would have probably drained hours of my time and caused me more aggravation, and I wanted to disassociate myself(and my car) from this place ASAP. Sears Auto seems to have a habit of letting equipment(batteries, tires) sit on their shelves for years and not realizing or paying attention to the fact that these things don’t last forever. I am by far not the only person I know of who has had trouble with this place. Some examples: a car not passing inspection due to the tires a short time after Sears Auto replaced said tires, incomplete repair jobs, and a mechanic forgetting to put oil in a car. I have no idea where Sears gets their«auto techs» from, but something is very, very wrong here… I think they hire anyone right off the street who needs a job so they can get away with paying their«auto techs» badly. Even if Sears Auto has to up their pay by $ 5 more per hour, which is not a lot in the grand scheme of things, it would be a better idea to do some research and hire folks who actually know how to fix cars. My advice: AVOIDSEARSAUTOATALLCOSTS!!! AVOIDAVOIDAVOID!!!
