I bought a Groupon for Liz Fraine at Sozo and she did a beautiful job with my crazy curls. I have been having a hard time finding a stylist I like, and I’m definitely going back even for full price. The only reason why I’m giving SoZo 4 stars is while Liz knocked it out of the park, the other stylists seemed unprofessional loudly gossiping about clients to each other, and on occasion being derogatory to them directly making the environment uncomfortable for their clients in the chairs. Mostly I tried to tune it out, because the space is adorable and Liz is great.

Just a note to say that SoZo and Zo Salon(just a few blocks north) are now all in one. Julia is at Zo and is Fabulous, especially if you like a layered cut.

Been to a lot of hair studios in Kirkland & around the area within the 3 years of living in WA, & I’m pretty sure I’ve found the studio & hairdresser(Julia) I’ll stick with. :) Love my cut & color & I never got so many compliments on my hair!

I’ve been a client of Zoey for the past 11 years, and she is absolutely brilliant! She had a lot ot live up to as my mother is also a hairstylist. I had to find a new stylist as I moved out of state. I have always been pleased with my haircuts and colors done by Zoey and consistently receive compliments on my hair. I’ve brought photos into the salon of a certain style I wanted, and Zoey always makes it happen. The salon has a very comfortable, friendly atmosphere and the service is great. I always feel relaxed and rejuvenated when I leave, as if I’ve been at the spa. That’s the way it should be!

I don’t know what it is about hair stylists who think they’re God. I’ve been a customer of Kim’s for over a year and was pleased with her cuts. I scheduled a bang trim with her which was moved a couple of times(and she does this often with clients) but she finally had time to fit me in. I’ll add that bang trims are free and should be when you’re paying $ 60 plus tip for a haircut. Nothing new there. I show up on time and the receptionist asks me to have a seat and make myself comfortable while I wait for Kim to call on me. After 10 minutes I wondering where she is but continue to read my magazine. Finally after 25 minutes of waiting, I get up only to find the receptionist is nowhere to be found and ask another stylist if Kim is even in the building as I hadnt heard her voice for awhile. She walks around and reports that she’s nowhere to be found! NOTTA! Here I am waiting 25 minutes for a bang trim and she’s not even there! I had an extremely busy day and had thought about canceling the trim but had decided against it. I got up and left. Kim has my number because she’s texted me before so she could’ve EASILY texted me or called the salon to inform someone what was going on. To give her the benefit of the doubt and after I’d cooled off a day later I texted her to ask what happened. No response. I texted again, in case she didn’t get my first text, no response. I don’t know what kind of operation she’s now decided she’s running where she thinks she doesn’t need to contact customers but it’s not the kind of one I’m going to support. Sorry Kim — you may think you’re a great stylist, but think again honey… there are TONS of other stylists in Kirkland and Bellevue that I’d rather support. Perhaps you may want to take a lesson in customer service because it’s truly something you don’t excel at.

I’m really late in writing my review, but I remembered this experience today after going to a different salon. I’m not hard to please. Most of my reviews are positive. I want to start off by saying that Kim does an AMAZING job. I have always walked out of Sozo loving my hair. One day, Sozo had an ad on Facebook for a discounted Brazilian Blowout. I mentioned it, but they said I couldn’t have it because it was not Kim’s deal. I made the point that Sozo advertised it and not the other stylist, but that didn’t help. When I asked to see the other stylist, I was told no because I already had services from Kim. We hung up after an uncomfortable phone chat. I was called later on with the news that I could have the deal after all. I was happy and booked an appointment. Later that day, I got another call saying I could only have that deal if I added on a color service to it. I was confused because that wasn’t mentioned when I booked the appointment, and besides, I don’t even color my hair. I cancelled the apppointment. When they called back and said it was some sort of internal mistake, I understood… But unfortunately, at that point, I was too fed up to go back. Ultimately, the talent is all there. Maybe mine was a one-time situation, but I feel that the advertisement communication needs some work.

As I was getting another treatment from another salon(Gene Juarez) for my ruined hair from Nicole at Sozo I decided to write a review. I will make this simple she ruined my hair… too much bleaching?, Cash only $ 250.00…suspicios…NOT paying taxes like the rest of us. Karma will get her in the long run. STAYAWAY… CASHONLY and they don’t fix your issues with a call back… after you call…

If I could give Kim Daughtery zero stars, I would. Not for her service, rather her integrity. A month before my wedding, I went to Kim for a complimentary consultation. At the end of the appt. I booked her to do my hair, my mother’s, and my maid of honor. She was very clear on pricing, $ 60 for an up do IF I, and MOH washed our hair ahead of time, and $ 30 for a blowout for my mom. Fantastic pricing! We even talked about the fact that we both didn’t understand why salons increased pricing for wedding events as opposed to other events. So the day before my wedding, my MOH calls the salon b/c she just had a quick question about her up do, and during the call she was informed that her up do would be $ 90. She relayed that info to me and I called the salon, and after leaving a few messages for them, they finally called me back the morning of the wedding. I asked about pricing, just to double check, and out of nowhere all the pricing had changed. I have background in financial analysis, I am an IT analyst by profession, so all day long I gather requirements and know my numbers very well. So trust me when I say, my memory was very clear re: what we had agreed upon. I didn’t care about the money, I couldn’t believe how untrustworthy Kim was. I of course was distraught, canceled my appt. b/c I couldn’t stand to see her. After calling other salons in the area, HOURSBEFOREMYWEDDING, I was able to find another salon that was able to take us in. If you don’t care about integrity, try Kim, otherwise, stay away.

I sort of want to keep Leily a secret so that she doesn’t become so popular that I have to book months in advance… but that’s not how I roll. I want to give this girl mad props for being able to deal with my mop. She does amazing highlights. I’ve been on a quest for the perfect highlights for a while now(my hair gets brassy very easily and is a weird texture) and she has figured it out! I got my hair done for a wedding in California and the stylist told me to tell Leily what a great job she did. Not to mention, she is just a doll and so fun to talk to :)
