The thrill of victory, the agony of da feet! You might hear that Rocky music in your head as you go up the stairs for the first time, thinking, «I’m gonna do 10 of these». Then, you finally get to the top and start pounding your way back down. Way, way back down. Now 5 trips seems more reasonable. Up you go again, a little slower, and the music in your head is a little less triumphant. More like«Don’t Stop Believin». You get to the top, but you don’t put your arms up and dance around in a circle like Rocky this time, but just pound your way back down and try to stay upright on those shaky legs. Then you head back up again, and this time it’s «Comfortably numb» and you’re thinking 3 is good. Yah, good workout. This can be a thigh burning, lung expanding, glute building, pain inducing workout. «Hurts So Good» as John Cougar might say. Small ‘d’ democratic, you’ll see everyone here on weekend mornings from soccer moms and body builders, to grampas and high schoolers working toward their personal bests, along with some middle school kids walking their daily commute if you go early on the weekdays. Wear shoes with some tread or good traction because these are wooden stairs and the surface where your foot falls will be a combination of mud, gravel and wood(often wet). Slipping on these stairs is not a pretty sight. I’ve seen it. Not pretty, not at all. Besides, those middle schoolers will be laughing their a**es off when you land on yours.

It burns so good! Great climb, fresh air, nature, and trees. It’s a great workout, no doubt about it.

I pride myself on being healthy and active. When someone told me I need to climb Forbes creek stairs for a killer workout, I jumped at the chance. The stairs are steep, gravel, and luckily, in shade. Wowzers, my legs burned after the first run up the stairs! My routine: Run up the stairs to fast paced electronic music and walk down the stairs. After wards, I like doing ad workouts on the playground nearby. Go!

These stairs ain’t joking! It was a great workout and I’ll be honest and tell you I only went up and down twice but that was due to my fear of missing a step and falling to my death. The stairs are old/wobbly/and there is only a hand rail on one side. Also, it was busy and 65 year old men were lapping me while I’m trying to balance and not die. Very humbling. I probably wont go back — I like well lit areas and concrete stairs. I’m too clumsy as it is for«trail step running.» The top of the stairs also leads into a nice park with some soccer fields and wild life trails(or hiking not sure what you’d call them as I am not one with nature.)
