Sophia’s Jewelry Studio

This little place is truly a gem.
I had the pleasure of going to Sophia’s Jewelry Studio on a rainy Friday afternoon just after Thanksgiving while I was home visiting my family in St. Louis. I needed a new watch battery for one of my favorite Guess watches. A simple request shockingly hard to get fulfilled for a half decent price ($ 15 — 20 for a watch battery replacement — c’mon!).
So when I asked my mom where to go around them, she immediately took me here. When we walked in, we were greeted warmly by Tim and his wife, the owners of Sophia’s, and he recognized my mom and asked what he could do for us. We chatted, I handed him the watch and he disappeared in the back while we browsed.
Sophia’s has lots of nice items on display: jewelry of all kinds with every type of stone, and from what I could tell, the prices didn’t look outrageous like some places.
In a jiffy, Tim was back out with the watch as good as new, and as he was handing back, he said I got the «friends of a customer discount,» since my mom (already a customer) had brought me in, and he likes to give people good feelings about Sophia’s when they’re introduced. Then we ended up talking for a few more minutes about the fact that I didn’t currently reside in St. Louis anymore, about which he was unperturbed, and finally he told me the watch battery was free. Wow! It went from a discount to free in the space of just a few minutes of friendly patter. How great!
So obviously, you can see why I’m a fan of Sophia’s Jewelry Studio, and I’d highly encourage visiting them for your jewelry needs or repairs. They’re super friendly and very reasonably priced.

Great store!!! Wonderful people! I stopped in on a Monday, not realizing that they’re usually closed! All the lights were on inside, so I never even looked at hours! Rang entry buzzer! Was mortified when he started explaining why his cases were empty! Could have been really awkward, but he made me feel totally comfortable! Assured me that he was happy to take care of me and that it didn’t matter. GREAT customer service! I’ll definitely be back!!! Next time during their regular business hours!!!

This place is great if you want something custom or for a special event. They guys that work here are super friendly… and they kind of have to be to keep up with the big chains in better locations.
I’ve been here a couple of times, and they offer simple services while you wait (battery replacements, band fitting, etc.). Their work is good, fast, and they’ll want to get to know you while they are working.
Careful not to miss it, it’s right next door to Trainwreck.

I saw a sign outside this store that said, «Watch Batteries Changed While You Wait.» I had a watch with a dead battery, so I stopped in.
Rock Hill Jewelry Associates is a nice little jewelry store with fairly decent prices. They have a good mix of everything, including watches. But what really impressed me was their customer service. The owner I dealt with (Tony) really knew his stuff, and he barely even seemed to be paying attention to my watch as he chatted with me. Before I knew it, the battery was replaced (for $ 10, which is pretty much the standard these days) and Tony had nearly talked me into buying another watch for my wife for Valentine’s Day!
I appreciate great service, and I also appreciate a great salesman. I left seriously considering another purchase. Time will be the tell there. But in the meantime, I’d recommend Rock Hill Jewelry Associates for anyone who’s looking for a store with a little bit of everything jewelry-​wise. Tony explained that they also have a woman who strings pearls and a gem specialist who fits and deals with the jewelry. It seems like a nice alternative to the big box jewelry stores.
