I have eaten here before during the week while on business trip. Stopped in a Friday night for dinner. The wait staff was less than attentive. I was seated & ordered water. I ordered soup & a sandwich. Soup came out like warm– sent back to heat up. Came back just slightly warmer. Ordered a turkey club. Very dry. Tried to get waitstaff attention for mayo & took forever, she was talking to other staff & didn’t come back to table. She didn’t remove the soup bowl after empty either. Had to go and get another waitstaff to get water refills. Just was not impressed this time. Maybe it’s the Friday crowd that service was fair– but it was not crowded. Food was so-so. Usually much better.

So this place is marketed as a sports bar, with multiple TV’s and we are here to watch the Packers-Redskins but guess what? We have the game on the screens but no sound and no closed caption! Background music is not really enhancing the game. So maybe it’s NOT sports bar? Wake up Mr Owner.

This place is great for a simple meal stop and a quick drink. Came here by accident on a trip up to KTP. We were soo hungry but wanted somewhere off the main strip. We didn’t map to here originally, but the outside looked so inviting we decided to go in. Great drinks in a small little bar with 3 TVs. The food was good, mostly well flavored american food. The fried chicken was very juicy and lightly battered, the mozza-luna sticks were soo good we came back again after our shopping to get more and another drink. The bartenders are very attentive and friendly. We left both times feeling like we had a great, cozy visit in a friends house.

Fun place to visit. We had fish & chips, shrimp & corn chowder, lobster mac & cheese. All were fabulous, huge portions, and well presented. Great flavors and service was delightful.

We love this place. Nice, cozy local pub with very good food. Always an authentic atmosphere with locals, tourists and naval base folks chatting it up at the bar. It has the very best veggie burger around and great brew choices!

Service and atmosphere are on point! I was a little disappointed with the menu. For being such a summery spot, I felt many of the items were heavy. Pulled pork seems to be their signature item since it’s on everything. I would love to see a pulled pork nacho on this menu next time I go back, and I will be going back!

A few buddies and I got a couple drinks at this bar around 7pm. The bar was quiet so we left to go down town Portsmouth. A few hours later we returned because it’s near home«walking distance.» The bartender gave us all some bull shit saying they can’t serve us if you leave the bar and return. (so if you have a beer and leave and return they wont serve you) I’m have never heard that bullshit before in my life. Don’t let the stupid bartenders fill you with false information!

I started off with an espresso martini. The second I had my first sip, I knew I was going to like it here; not many places make an espresso martini that I really enjoy. For lunch, I got the Red Rooster chicken sandwich and my boyfriend got the Rudder burger. I had a bite of his burger and it was good… BUT, I immediately became biased — the Red Rooster is so so delicious! I love spicy foods and this had just the perfect amount of bite to it. In addition, the waitress said I had a «specialty» ketchup and curry concoction for the curly fries. I never had curry before but the smell of it disgusts/disgusted me until today! The«specialty» ketchup was so tasty and went perfectly next to the Red Rooster sandwich.

After a rainy day of shopping around the outlets and preparing ourselves for a long drive back to Newport, RI, we wanted to hit up somewhere to have a late lunch. After poking around on Unilocal,we found Rudders Public House. I glanced over the menu and it looked decent, so we said sure. The initial draw was that it wasn’t on Route 1, so we were hoping to avoid the crowds of tourists, which we definitely did. Upon entering, we were greeted with a smile, and a nice relaxing casual atmosphere. We noticed they had an awesome outdoor patio, that we could only wish it wasn’t raining so we could enjoy… next time! Looking over the menu, the restaurant offered a variety of options from sandwiches, salads, burgers, to seafood… all for a decent price as well as a gluten free option! I went with the B&B… and boy was it delicious! Blue Cheese and bacon add to any burger! I also had the sweet potato fries which were on point! The portions were great, and having BBQ sauce ON the table, without having to ask was an added bonus for me! Everyone was happy with the meal, and our waitress was extremely nice… there was a small hiccup in one of my friends meals, just forgot the bacon, and they offered either a new sandwich, or a credit to the bill— she ended up taking the entire dish off our bill, which was above and beyond what she needed to do, because the meal was still A+. We’ll definitely be back again! A quick detour off the highway makes for a perfect pit stop! Not to mention the little street it’s on is a super cute area!

I’ve been to Rudders a few times now and the food there is truly outstanding. I had the grilled romaine salad with mahi mahi and it was just amazing. I’ve had the cob salad and the burger previous times and they hit it out of the park. If you are looking for a great meal and a relaxed atmosphere, check his place out. The drinks are also extremely tasty with a heavy pour. Cheers.

Walked in and they had Mott the Lesser on Tap. Pretty awesome. Well done. Food was just okay and staff was alright, location is great. If you’re headed to Black Birch, it’s worth the stop by!

My wife and daughter and I went for dinner and got out of there for under $ 70 including an app and 2 drinks each. But what was impressive was the quality of the food — VERY good food for the price. The meatloaf was amazing. The staff are personable and seem happy to work there. Overall a great place.

A cozy, warm little pub around the corner from the naval shipyard. My husband, daughter and I wandered in to escape the cold and get a warm lunch. A had a regular cheeseburger and asked for japs and onions and they went one better and diced the jalepenos for an even spread. It was perfectly spicy. My daughter adored the curly fries(she thought they were funny) and my husband was thoroughly happy with his bacon wrapped meatloaf. That’s right — BACONWRAPPEDMEATLOAF. A true working man’s fare. I also got a side of the buffalo hot wings, just because. The temptation was too great. They were perfect. Very spicy and high quality wings, not the overly fatty kind. We were the only people in the place with a child but we didn’t feel out of place. It was very friendly and the waitstaff doted on our little one. We’re dying to go back on an evening out, just the two of us, to hang out at this place for a casual date night.

Great atmosphere. I had the fish sandwich which was cooked to perfection. I am newer to town but the staff seemed to know everyone who walked through the door. My Jack and coke was ok but I do usually drink them stronger. Over all a $ 28 bill for two with a drink i will definitely eat here again.

The Good: Promptly greeted, seated & served. Organic IPA& local beers on tap! CURRYKETCHUP. Big, charred hot dogs. Homemade sides. Patio seating! The Bad: Small menu, short beer list. No veggie options. Got kinda forgotten about after we ate! The Food: Short menu &ALL meat — burgers with various toppings, hot dogs with various toppings, and some sandwiches. The menu said«choice of toppings» but our server was unable to list the options. I had a hot dog, which was BIG and deliciously charred, it was tasty! The fries were homemade but I wouldn’t have known that if the menu didn’t say that specifically — they weren’t anything special, but at least they were homemade! I LOVED the curry ketchup(two of my favorite things: curry & ketchup, at the same time!!) but our server said they don’t always have it! The Service: Prompt & friendly, but after we ate, waitress would just walk past our empty beers without offering another, so we had to flag her down a few times. Overall: Would go back to sit on the patio with a big ol’ charred hot dog, curry ketchup and an organic IPA on draft. Inside is cool, clean, dark, and small with mostly bar and high-top seating, would be a good place to watch the game. Room for improvement(I would like if they had an organic hot dog, grass-fed burgers, and some vegetarian options) but it’s a good, casual, fast & clean place to grab a burger and a beer!
