Wednesday night… downtown Knoxville… is TRIVIA NIGHT.
Oh My Word!
It was SO LOUD in the restaurant.
I just wanted to yell…“Alex, I’ll take PEACE and QUIET for $ 500″.
Three of us landed at MM after SunSpot was jam packed with an hour wait. Rumor has it the reason was ½ price bottles of wine. It was a warm night, so people were literally every where, including the roof. We decided not to stay and instead walked over to Mellow Mushroom.
Our server was excellent. I don’t recall every having bad service at MM, regardless of the location. Service is wonderful, friendly, timely, accurate, and as expected for a service based establishment.
The menu options are remarkable. Gluten Free. Vegetarian. Meat Lovers. Salads and sides and beverages galore. Dessert event.
I ordered the small Holy Shiitake Pizza. Yea. Holy Shiitake, I wish I had ordered something else. It wasn’t that tasty. It advertised having truffle oil on it, and they used entirely too much of it. The whole pie had an odd scent and upon reheating in my oven, smelled odd again. I don’t think the ingredients were bad, I think the truffle oil was just WIERD.
Heads up.
Their pizza are HIGH HIGH HIGH CALORIE in case you are counting. YIKES!
This is an okay spot. It’s food. I’ve had much better pizza elsewhere.

Awesome place! This restaurant is so conveniently located to the campus and can easily accommodate a busy, packed crowd – even on game days. It’s the perfect place to meet up with friends before the game and grab a pizza and some beers. I recommend checking this place out!

Mellow Mushroom never fails. Walked in extremely hungry and packed the table with Mediterranean Pizza, Jerk wings, and a chicken salad. Had a couple Blue Moons and a Yazoo Hef and left the happiest man in the city.
The waitress was awesome and super attentive. But it was the combination and deliciousness that came from the freshness and lightness of the pizza, the wet and juicy snap of the salad, and the delectable jerk wings that cemented it all in.
Thiswas definitely a meal that made me feel just a bit like Ratatouille. I was tasting the food in colors, hearing the flavors, and enjoying with my palate.

Cool décor and atmosphere, but the pizza is just meh. It had acres of crust, which, IMHO, is not as good as what I make at home. The service was friendly, and the pizza did its job of soaking up the game day beer. But overall I’d skip it.

Sorry I went to this place, our meal was NOT GOOD. We should have known better when we pulled in the parking lot and there weren’t many people there. We had pizza & a philly cheesesteak. Take a look at my pic of the cheesesteak & the thin miniature tomato slices. We asked the manager about the sandwich and were told they weigh the amount of meat & you get 2 tomato slices. Hope they haven’t started putting grape tomato slices on their sandwiches. Food was NOT GOOD, I will not go back.

Stopped in on a Friday after work! I had never been to this place, it was my first visit. I absolutely love the family friendly atmosphere, I was very spacious. The bar was fully loaded, and everyone was sooo friendly. I picked up the House Special and a Chef Salad. I didn’t call in my order because it was my first visit. So I placed my order to go… It only took maybe 10 mins to get my food and I was off to enjoy! The food was great, and I would love to go back to dine in

Food is OK but the the staff is horrible. Ordered a Meatball Sub and you have to pay for chips and such but the staff took 3 attempts at making a simple sub without cheese. Waitress actually asked on the second time why don’t I want cheese — did get sandwich eventually for no charge. This location must hire a lot of the college students and that shows.

Good vibes only. Their beer selection always surprises me with its breadth and local variety for a chain restaurant. I love the pizza crust here; it’s not too thin or too greasy. The Mighty Meaty is my absolute favorite.
Check out their half priced appetizers late at night on the weekends; it’s a great deal for drinkin’ and munchin’.

Pizza is great. I also like the gluten free crust. Yummy mushroom soup. PIZZa did take longer than usual and the place was pretty empty.

Yuuuummmmmyyyy! This is one of those chains where you can’t go wrong. The endless list of fresh ingredients and delicious menu full of unique creations is so inspired. This is a great option if you’re in the campus area.
I usually build my own pie and/​or salad, and I am obsessed with the lunch options here. A slice and a salad is the perfect weekday pick me up.
The service is great here. I’ve even had good service on game days (gasp!). It’s worth your time for sure.

I usually hang out here on Monday nights when I am not working. Mellow Mushroom is a wonderful supporter of the Knoxville Track Club. They allow smelly runners to hang out in their restaurant (usually on the patio when the weather is good) and provide a handful of free appetizers. How awesome is that!
The food is lovely as usual. I got indoctrinated into Mellow Mushroom when I lived in Alabama and I have remained a big fan. The Kosmic Karma is my favorite pie and you can’t go wrong with the pretzels. They have a ton of beer on tap, including Angry Orchard Cider. And our regular waitress Leslie is AMAZING. That girl is going places. If you eat at Mellow Mushroom, ask if Leslie is working and ask to be seated in her section.

Gourmet White pizza — olive oil and garlic base with different types of cheese. This is the perfect pie for dry lips. I napkined this pie so much and it was still drenched in oil. Which isn’t bad but I just found it overwhelming. But hey, it’s a lot of cheese = fatty oil.
Thai dye pie — olive oil and garlic base with thai chili sauce. This is a great choice for lovers of thai chili sauce because it gives this pie an unique kick.
Holy shiitake pizza — this is also an olive oil and garlic base pie with TRUFFLE OIL! If you’re a fan of mushrooms, you’ll love this pie because the truffle oil scent will lift your tongue spirits up. Plus assorted mushrooms… what more can you ask for?!
Overall, I’m a huge fan of this joint because of their dough. It’s not fake. I love that it is soft and chewy. Most importantly, it still taste good cold. Each bite is full of flavor and I didn’t have to rearrange toppings to make sure each bite was as good a the first. Yes… I’m one of those.
They offer catering and supply drinks in cute bagged containers! Talk about caring for the environment!

Not just for pizza. Mellow Mushroom is a good pizza place. I would love to see one in Fountain City. The place is a kid favorite with thin crust cheese pizza. I also really like the salads. I had the spinach salad and it was good with extra toppings of dried cherries, pecans and apples.

I’ve been to a few of these around the country, in San Antonio, Savannah, Asheville and here in Knoxville yesterday. This is very good pizza, but be prepared to wait because they bake it. They have a good beer selection, not sure when the have happy hour here or what type of deals you get, but I’ll find out soon enough. This place is decorated with trippy, psychedelic art which is kinda cool. Service was prompt, efficient and friendly but we where the only table in the joint! I enjoyed Maui Wowi pizza which has jerk chicken, bacon, pineapple, banana peppers and the special jerk sauce on the side! Pretty yummy folks!

Excellent service, excellent location. We try to eat there at least ¹⁄₃ of our trips to Knoxville and have never been disappointed. Last visit 2 nights ago with our son after a late arrival. Usually treated a little surly by wait staff wanting to go home. Not here! This is a «Mellow» kind of place!

How can you burn the re bake from previously burnt pizza? To be fair I have not been back in over a year, they may have resolved there problems.

We had the ceasar pizza. It was better than the white cheese! Or server spilt our drinks over my friend and only offered $ 5 discount! The drink cost that! What about the laundry and having to wear beer scented clothes the rest of the day.

Good pie. 2^nd best in Knoxville behind only Hard Knox in my book. Cool, unique toppings combinations, great bar specials, and really good service for the strip. The prices are a little high, but you have to factor in that the pies are absolutely ginormous.

I went here a few times when I lived in Knoxville. I always went on their trivia night with a group of friends, and it was a blast. It’s very loud, but that’s because it’s SO busy and everyone is having a good time.
The pizza is fantastic. I remember the philosopher’s pizza was exceptionally yummy. I miss this pizza place so very much.
Any time I went it was very bustling so it took anywhere from 5 – 15 minutes until we could be seated, but oh well. There were a lot of people there for a reason. I’ll give you a hint, it’s because it’s a wonderful place.
The décor is just neat. All the mushrooms and such. I love the colors and the sort of beaten look to it. The service is very good, too. Even though they were incredibly swamped, they checked on the table often for drinks (as well as inquiries if we wanted more pitchers of beer. I was too young at the time to partake. QQ).
