Oh Lord; we love Petro’s. They used to have a store at Hamilton Place Mall in Chattanooga, but it closed. I wish they’d come back to Chattanooga. Petro’s started at the 1982 World’s Fair in Knoxville. They used to serve them at the UT cafeteria at the Student Center back in the day. We try to make them at home, but we can’t match the chili. And Petro’s won’t give us the recipe! That keeps us coming back! Five stars!

Visited this location Oct17, 2015 @ 5:00pm. Ordered two large baja petros and two large orange tea($ 21.59). Large cup was half filled. Chili was luke warm, and the lady at the drive thru didn’t seem too friendly. Left out hot sauce also. Disappointed, seems expensive for what we received and poor quality of chili beans. Do not think I will be visiting this place again on Kingston Pike, Knoxville TN. I guess the best thing of this visit was the orange sweet tea. Not worth $ 21.59. Poor customer service.

We moved to middle tennessee and you know the old saying«you don’t know what you got till it’s gone?» PETROS. I know it’s not rocket science to make these at home but there is something special about a petro(maybe it’s the accompanying half sweet/half unsweet orange tea) that I can’t mimic just right. Kudos for offering a vegetarian chili option.

One of my «must go eat» places everytime I’m in Knoxville. I love love love Petro’s. I miss it! I love how their chili blends in well with the corn chips, how the sour cream and tomatoes mesh up and the green onions… I’m making myself hungry just thinking about it.

Great fast food options for vegetarians and gluten free folks. However, these fools ran out of potatoes the other night when I was in the drive through! I thought the guy was fooling with me when I went to order my potato but sure as shit they ran out of potatoes. I went across the street to Taco Bell.

The nachos, hot dogs, etc. are passable, but you can get stuff like that everywhere. The chili, corn-chip, sour cream gift from the gods that mortals have chosen to call a «Petro» is what you’re after here. Sure, you can make chili pie at home.. .but you’d have to actually MAKE it. My mom and all of my friends love the sweet tea. I myself don’t like tea at all(I know, time to hand in my Southern card), so I haven’t tried it. There are Petro’s locations dotted all over Knoxville — I can walk to the one closest to me. It’s a quick, convenient alternative to other fast food places like McDonalds.

Best Iced Tea Around Town. I would rate the tea a 5 and the food a 3. They have hot dogs, petro’s, baked potatoes and salads that are all good. It is a drive-thru. There is not much space to be able to eat inside however they have free wireless internet. I noticed that the other day in their window. They sell their iced tea by the gallon. I get a gallon just about every other week. Try it out!
