I have gone here multiple times and then joined as a member. The food is very healthy and good. Very nice and friendly service. Also very nice desert and drinks. Being a member is very worth it.

Had the pleasure of spending an afternoon here as part of a friend’s big birthday bash. We went at the beginning of fall, and it was perfect. We were surrounded by nothing but trees displaying their beautiful, colorful leaves. We started out with a lunch in the lodge. The lodge was a big cabin converted into an intimate restaurant. There are 2 rooms for private big parties, and an upstairs dining area for smaller parties. We were in one of the big rooms that also felt like a library. I ordered the most delicious ham scramble, and as part of the meal, we were invited to peruse the fruit, veggie, dessert buffet that was set up in the lodge living room. Everything was delicious and the staff was super nice. After lunch, a guide took us out for a shooting lesson. We walked a few yards away; walked pass the most serene river, and went to a clearing to practice shooting clay pigeons with shooting rifles. That was one of the most understanding shooting instructor I’ve gotten. He was helpful but also noticed when my arms got too tired. I had a lot of fun out of doing something I can’t do in the city.

Went trap shooting (first time) and had Nick as an instructor. Nick is an extremely affable and qualified instructor who genuinely seems to enjoy his job. It was a fun experience and by the end I was shooting 2 targets at a time with a 80 percent hit rate. Definitely recommend if you’re in the area.

A gem in the woodlands.
I was up at Kohler for a girls weekend and we stumbled upon this marvelous place in the woods near the hotel. It is truly a gem.

I was visiting the American Club resort with my mom and when I heard about River Wildlife, I had to make a visit. This was this past week, so the weather wasn’t great for hiking, but I will definitely return in better weather to do that.
The log cabin restaurant has an incredible atmosphere. You have to walk down a short path through the woods to get there and once inside, you feel like you are really in someone’s own log cabin. There is a real burning fireplace right in the center and a few rooms with a small number of tables in each area.
The food was delicious — I tried a pheasant blt one day and the elk tenderloin shepherd’s pie the next (yes we went back a second time!). The portions are large and everything was most definitely homemade.
We did buy some of the apple pie jam to take home, which I ate the next morning and loved! While I think the entry fee might distract some from trying this hidden gem, I found it well worth it for the atmosphere, the great food, and the peace and quiet with beautiful scenery.

Awesome shooting range setup. Great restaurant as well. Definitely will be back to shoot and fish! Love the rustic log cabin with fireplace.

We came to River Wildlife for some hiking and a delicious lunch!!! We bought the day pass (About $ 18ish per person). We wanted to cross country ski, but you needed to rent the skis at the American Club. It was recommended to us that we start the hiking trails by the BlackWolf Run Lodge. Absolutely beautiful!!! We saw one deer and one rabbit :) :) We were the only ones hiking out there, but itw as breath taking!!!
After almost two hours of this pregnant lady hiking, I was ready for some lunch! (Make reservations ahead of time!). The atmosphere of the River Wildlife Lodge is so warm and comfortable. They have a nice fireplace and tables when you walk in, along with board games and tons of magazines. They have other seating in seperate rooms on the first floor and upstairs. The hubby ordered the pot roast sandwhich with mashed potatoes (Im not a huge mashed potatoes fan, but these were AWESOME!). I ordred this delicious grilled cheese sandwhich with arugula and other deliciousness inside of it. The food was delicious. Quite pricey, but so is every restaurant on the resort and well worth it!
