Just had the Philly Cheese Steak sandwich at this place. It was yummy! The best I’ve ever had. The owner was warm and friendly. We sat on the deck in the back. It was very comfortable.

We had BLTs and fries. Since its a holiday there is tons of traffic so we stopped for lunch. I’ve always seen this place but never stopped. The patio is nice and shaded. We will certainly stop again.

We stopped for breakfast and the food was delicious. Service was a bit slow so keep that in mind if you’re in a hurry but the omelettes were fresh with real ingredients so I call it a win.

Clean, good breakfast. Inexpensive compared to Meyers and South Lake. Also I came here when the Strawberry Lodge was closed, seems like the Lodge only does breakfast on the weeke

Service was terrible. The person behind the counter was really weird on who could use the bathroom and when. Prices were outrageously high for pre-​packaged food and beverages. Drive a few more miles to the town of Strawberry for a better experience.

This place has a VERY strict rule on who can use their restroom… After paying $ 3 for a kids apple juice only I was allowed to use the restroom! No one else in my party was allowed to use the restroom until they paid for something as well.
The man working was rude and unfriendly. What’s worse is there are not many bathroom options from this location to south lake. Avoid this place.

Good food and fair price. Stopped there after coming back from the snow. Food was prepared quickly and it was delicious. The restaurant is nice and clean. Would stop again and recommend as well.

I would give zero stars if possible. The Asian guy behind the counter is an a**hole! He made a huge deal about the restroom, locked the door on a family with children and wouldn’t let them in, yelled at 2 young girls for taking too long to pay, and the food is expensive $ 9 for a chicken sandwich that is small and plain. Never again will we come here. I was so disgusted by how rude the man was I hope they get closed down.

Simple, clean & fresh food! Like the service, folks are very friendly. Not much varity, but what they have, it presented well and tasty.

We were a group of four and we were heading towards South Lake Tahoe. We wanted to have a sumptuous breakfast and refresh ourselves before trekking the Mt Tallac and so we stopped here. It’s a small but fine place. We were all veggies and we ordered the French toast combo. The breakfast was just what we expected both quality and quantity wise. It was very sumptuous and tasted good. Yes, the service takes some time but once the food arrived we really didn’t think about all that, thanks to the good food. Restroom access is only for customers. The restroom was big and very neat. I would have given five stars except the access to the restroom is by a key that the Asian manager hands over and when one of them in our group just went in to use it, someone outside had told the guy that the restroom was locked and he tried opening it with another key. Oh come on! How could someone be that stupid. Yes it was un intentional but it could have been a serious offense if the person inside had not just stepped in, you know what I mean. So be careful that way, maybe ask one in your group to stand guard to let him know someone is inside. And yes I would still go here again. Nice place that just serves the purpose.

Terrible service!!! the Asian guy behind the counter was super rude the food was mediocre. He made a huge deal about the bathroom and kicked out a group of people because they had said To Go when they initially paid. They charge a 15% service fee to dine in. Even tho we paid to dine in the man didn’t bother bringing us water until maybe 10 minutes after we sat down. Overall the guy needs some serious customer service training and the place might have a chance.

The food was pretty good, just thought that I would get more for a $ 11 breakfast. As far as the atmosphere goes– not so great. You can tell that the place isn’t taken care of very well. It wasn’t a dump, but it also wasn’t like a nice diner.

If you are looking for a place to stop on the way to Tahoe for a bite, I would recommend it! Food was great, portions were great and service was great. The only reason it’s 4 stars instead of 5 is because it did take a while to get our food. It looks to be a one man operation and there were two tables ahead of us. Great breakfast!
Side note about past reviews — I can clearly see why the restroom thing is such a big deal. While we were there, we saw no less than 5 people bypass the three «restrooms are for customers only» signs to use the restroom. Rude. The guy is on a septic and that stuff is expensive to pump and maintain. I felt bad for the guy, I’m sure he deals with it all day everyday.

The negative reviews? If someone can’t come up with a negative review in under eight paragraphs, I think the problem usually lies in the reviewer.
Bathrooms are for patrons. Yes, I know your little snowflake is the cutest kid you know. I think your kid is ugly, and that you should pay for food if you want to let your kid drop one into their septic. Tell them to go before you hit the road.
I’d come here again for a breakfast on the way up. Absolutely.

The service here is painfully horrible. The clerk is rude and does not have great communication skills. Even if you feel like you are going to pee your pants and need to use the restroom, by all means skip this terrible little place. Bad vibes going on here.

Food was good, once we found it!

On my way to Tahoe I stopped in here for lunch. Before getting out of the car I looked at the reviews and decided to go in anyway seeing as some of the lowest reviews were due to not being able to use their restrooms prior to purchasing anything. By the way… there are 3 signs before even entering the place that say restrooms are for customers only. Meaning you should have ordered something before getting the key to the restroom rather than just saying you plan to.
When I walked in with my 3 children I was greeted by a very nice gentleman whom immediately led us to where we’d be sitting. The place is small and that day, a little cold. It is kept warm with 2 small heaters, one on each side. I think the setting of 67 was a bit low because we were still cold while sitting there.
We ordered an omelette, nuggets and fries, patty melt and I had a BLT. I think those things are hard to screw up. When we got them, they tasted and were cooked as you’d expect them to be. We ordered 4 large cokes that came to about 2.50 each, that I felt was a bit of a rip off. Although they were in fact pretty large, there is no way they should be priced at that. The total for the things mentioned came up to approximately $ 50.00! That was also a bit much for what they were.
Would I stop in again? Yes, if I had to use the restroom I’d at least order a large coke.
3 stars because I’m not really a fan of paying that much for that type of food and it was all A-​OK.

Do NOT go to this café! This place has no ethics and sense of customer service!
18 of us friends were in Lake Tahoe and on our way back home, and we thought to eat here.
Few friends were behind so my boyfriend decided to get gas while rest of the group reach there. Meanwhile I really had to use the restroom as I was feeling very uneasy from the mountains. I walked in and the Asian guy at counter said restroom for customers only. I politely told him of course, we are eating here, but waiting for friends. He said ok well you can use once they come here. That ticked me off!!! I was like are you serious??! Then I told my boyfriend is coming, don’t worry we will pay I need to use restroom. He just ignored me. And if I didn’t have to go so badly, I would not even deal with this rude Asian guy. My boyfriend came and said here is $ 10 keep it. He says no buy something. We said we don’t want it, but he still is saying buy something. Meanwhile he still did not unlock the restroom. Then boyfriend picks up water and finally he opened restroom.
That is all just customer service and ethics issue. Meanwhile, lady who was pregnant was having same issue I heard while I was in restroom. Again guy was arguing about for customers only. And lady’s husband was so upset and also offered money and he said no buy something. Ridiculous!!!
Also, a group left saying we want to cancel our order because it’s just been way too long since we placed it and we haven’t even got water or a waiter back here to tell us why it’s taking long.
Don’t know about how food is but I won’t ever support a business whose service is this terrible with no ethics. I value reviews and appreciate customer service. This place is not worth it. This guy needs to learn a lesson. Our group ended up eating at another restaurant on our way back.
I won’t even give 1 star to this place if I had an option. And plus I saw other reviews about the bathroom issue. This just sucks that in US we have such business owners who have no ethics. There should be some training before an entity is issues a business license!
