I was skeptical about crossfit, all the stories you hear. When I found Crossfit Survival the minute I walked in i knew this was the place for me. I’ve been training with Shannon who with her expertise, support and encouragement has made me feel like a new person(workouts are never boring). I could tell she truly cared about the issues I had and really worked with me to tweak and tailor a program that would be beneficial. I owe her BIG time!!! Thanks Shannon for making me feel like a million bucks and only getting stronger. Julie BIG thanks for pushing me and being so fabulous! I HIGHLY recommend Crossfit Survival. If you are serious about losing weight, starting a healthy living, and getting into the best shape, this is the place to choose! I just finished the fundamental course with Shannon and I could not be happier! She is caring, knowledgable, and will push you! I’m looking forward to start my private training and classes! This is the best gym out there!

My sister and I just finished our 6 day fundamental, one on one training sessions with Shannon and we couldn’t be more satisfied! Shannon is one of the sweetest people you will ever meet. Her passion and commitment to fitness will help anyone achieve their goals. It was great to have Shannon give us her undivided attention and work specifically with us. This introductory course has really taught me how to better my form, technique, and control my nutritional intake. Each day we did something new, so we really never got bored of completing the same workout over and over again. You will definitely be sore, but the results will be extremely rewarding! I am very pleased with what I have learned from the fundamental courses at CrossFit Survival and I can’t wait to continue my fitness journey at this location.

I’m new here but so far enjoy the training from both Shannon and Erik. Not all Crossfit places are the same — the quality of coaching can vary widely. The coaching here is very good. Both coaches have studied a lot and have lots of experience. I’ll review more as I continue my training here.

Shannon knows her stuff and makes exercise fun. She was voted the finest fitness instructor in the area for 2014 by readers of CV Weekly and deserved it! I have worked with both her and Eric and you can’t go wrong with either. The facility is great and the people are all friendly! Go here to get fit, healthy and have fun while doing it! I send patients there all the time!

My friend was raving about how great this place is. I was scared to try crossfit because I heard how INTENSE it was. It is true but every time I went to class, I felt stronger! At Crossfit Survival, staffs are very attentive and motivate you TOTHEMAX. People there will encourage and support you until you meet your goal. I highly recommend this place and I will never stop raving about this place.

I’d been going to a regular gym and working out on my own off and on for the last 15 years. When I worked out on a regular basis, I saw some results and thought that if I just pushed myself harder, I would see even better results. However, when I started working with heavier weights, I began to injure myself. Meanwhile, I had seen cross fit gyms popping up everywhere and thought that they were the latest fad that would go away in a few years. When CrossFit Survival opened up just down the street from my house, I never thought I would even consider joining. But a few weeks ago, after realizing that I wasn’t getting«fit» working out on my own, I gave them a shot and I’m so glad I did. Shannon and Erik are great coaches. They know how far to push without pushing you too far and discouraging you. I’ve only gone in for seven sessions so far but my pants are already feeling loose and he joint aches and pains that come with middle age seem to be going away.

AWESOMEFRIENDLYANDPROFESSIONALTEAM! At CrossFit Survival you will never injure yourself! As a chiropractor, I always pay attention to my bio-mechanics and posture. This gym has it all! I cannot say enough good things about CFS. The staff is AMAZING and the community is so supportive and encouraging. Shannon Franklin and her team of coaches will focus on your health and wellness as a whole rather than just muscle gain. I highly recommend CrossFit Survival to anyone looking for an amazing workout and who are really interested to become active participants of their well-being. GOTEAMCFS!

I was scared to try crossfit, as I thought it was just for very accomplished athletes, and seemed dangerous! I was super relieved I found this place! All shapes, sizes, ages, fitness levels are welcome here and I felt right at home. They totally treat their gym like a family and actually care about every one of us. When I had a sprained ankle, they came up with alternatives so I could still work out on my usual days and progress in other areas. The class sizes are very small. 3 – 8 people depending on the time you go. I don’t think I have seen any more that 10.(Compared to a place I visited in Berkeley where there were 20+ people!) So they watch your form like hawks!!! I have even seen them stop people from doing an exercise and give them something else to do so they wouldn’t get hurt. If you are thinking about trying crossfit, I definitely recommend this gym. They take care of you like family.

I am not one for reviews, but I feel this one deserves the attention. I will say that my preconceptions of crossfit(my fears) were quickly pushed aside from the calm and assertive attitude of both Shannon and Erik. I pictured crossfit as someone yelling at you, while lifting a million and one pounds, while running in place, there is so much more to it than that. Over the fundamentals course I have learned so much about form(which mine is pretty bad) and how to continue to correct it. We also learned about the«N» word… Nutrition! As much as I hate to admit it, ‘you are what you eat’, if you put crap in, you body will give you a crap back(crappy performance) and you will feel like crap after and take longer to recover. They paid close attention to each position, lift, squat, situp, pushup, pullup and even the way you run, who knew their was a proper way to run! They careful and thoughtfully laid out each class to build upon the next while along the way they offered their empirical knowledge, instruction and encouragement. They were very careful to match the workout to «THELEVELYOUCANHANDLE» no matter how good or bad you think it is. They even have ways to ‘assist’ you in completing a particular exercise that you normally cannot do, like say pullups! I won’t bore you with the numerous questions I have bombarded them with, particularly about endurance training and nutrition. They were extremely quick to respond and even though this is not their area of expertise they gave me lots of great resources that have proved to be beneficial to my improvement on long distance cycling, my overall health and fitness. I cannot even express enough how awesome these coaches and this crossfit gym is. Not if, but when I go back in September I am looking forward to increasing my upper body and high intensity training to complete the Spartan race in December. I would be continuing now if I hadn’t already signed up for 2 months of MMA and a 545 mile cycling event in June. Give them a try, you won’t regret it! See you in September– James

Absolutely love this crossfit gym!!! The head coach Shannon is an amazing motivator. I can not say enough about her. She always sets the standards high while still scaling them to your level. She pushes your limits and her confidence in your abilities makes you believe in yourself. I’ve been attending this gym since June 2012 and have already seen more improvement in my athletic abilities than ever before. The workouts are never the same and you are constantly improving something and setting new goals for yourself. If your concerned that a crossfit gym is too much for you. Not to worry. Before you begin to attend a regular class you have to attend fundamentals course which takes about a month to complete, it provides you with all of the basic knowledge and practice you need to make in to the classes. Bottom line: *An excellent gym *Great instructors *Great atmosphere *Great Price *Flexible class schedule

I have been training with Shannon since 2010 and in that time I have always been impressed with the way she takes care of people and mentors her interns. Both Shannon and Eric will let you settle for nothing less than your best, and will be there to coach you the whole way.

I have been meaning to write a review on this little piece of painful heaven for a while. This is as good as it gets. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the atmosphere is inspiring and fun. You are not allowed to partake in regular classes unless you do a basics class. Now you might wonder why a basics class is necessary… well you perform a number of Olympic lifts that require proper form. Proper form ensures maximum results with the decreased risk of injury. The Coach’s here ensure that everyone that graduates from the basics class has proper form which will maximize results. In addition to all this, the staff takes great pride in forming a community with the members here. Its not just a «see you in class» atmosphere, these people form friendships and constantly participate in races/events. Plus the owner, Coach Shannon, is down to earth and understanding about individual situations. I inquired into two other crossfit gyms before this one in Burbank and North Hollywood and let me tell you, WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Crossfit Survival is truly the model that those two other crossfit gyms should strive for.

I had been inquiring about a crossfit gym for some time before I joined Crossfit Survival. This place has the best price and is by far the best workouts I have ever had. I love it so much that I look forward to waking up at 5:15 am to make it to their 6:00 am class. I highly recommend this gym, especially if you are new to Crossfit for several reasons, one being that the coaches are strict with your form. The workouts are never the same, and Coach Franklin(head coach) is simply put, a «bad ass». She will make you work and push harder and you will want to. Additionally, you will meet great people and join an environment that will make you want to improve your physical strenght, eat better, push yourself to the limit, and work as hard as you have ever worked. My gym is very imspirational to me, even outside of work out hours. You will find yourself making commitments to things that you never thought yourself possible of achieving. :) ALSOON A SIDENOTE they have crossfit for kids classes !!

Dear Shannon and Boyd(amazing coaches from CrossFit) I wanted to take a moment to thank you and Boyd for all your help. If I hadn’t been so darned stubborn I probably would have been to my goal by now, but I guess you were wise enough to know that you could only give the advice-it was up to me to take it! I’m so glad I’m full paleo now. Going gluten free in November helped, but I’m seeing such great results now that I’ve listened to your great wisdom and advice. With Boyd’s blogs on plateau’s and eating the right type of fats, I’m down 7 lbs in 2 ½ weeks. I had been stuck for months-I’d lose a couple then gain it right back(body fat set point… right Boyd)? Now that I added more protein and fat I’m finally getting close to my goal… THANKYOUBOTHSOMUCH! Shannon-I really feel like you’ve taken the time to «know» me. You both inspire me so much! I can now say I am a crossfit addict thanks to Crossfit Survival and specially to coach Shannon Franklin. I’ve always been active whether is riding bikes, going to a gym or running. But it wasn’t until I join Crossfit Survival that I am really seeing what I am capable of doing. Coach Shannon pushes you to your maximum potential and I really needed that… I am grateful to be part of the Crossfit survival family and highly recommend it to anyone with a desire to get fit for life and make a lifestyle change.

If you are looking for a fitness community that values and nurtures the athlete within each individual this is the place to go. Despite your skill level, or what you think your capable of, Coach Shannon will test, guide and push you beyond. As a mother of three with my youngest being 3 yrs… the old baby fat excuse was not longer valid. I joined CFS looking to lose weight and get«fit» but I had not idea what fitness was until I met Coach Shannon. She has not only guided me to lose all the weight(27lbs) I have never felt stronger and healthier. She has pushed me to strive to lift heavier, run faster, and continue to drive myself beyond my own expectations. Thanks Coach for being so generous with your passion you have changed my life! ;)

You will work your butt off… make«sweat angles» on the ground… and you will love every minute of it! Shannon is a great motivator. but while she is pushing you to your limit, she is always alert to make sure you are moving correctly so you will not hurt yourself. Many group outings such as races, and movie nights. Improve your fitness and make some great friends.

Awesome workouts every day — never a dull moment w/these workouts; The instructors Shannon, Jon and Karen are also very motivating and serve as excellent role models!!! The workouts incorporate such great and efficient cardio, strength training and even gymnastic exercises; I started in 12⁄2010 and have already seen some amazing improvement in my level of fitness — not to mention the weight Ive lost; The optional race practices on Sundays are a great relaxing and also very challenging way to exercise. Forget personal training sessions or boring gyms — join crossfit survival and you’ll always have a great motivating trainer/coach helping you achieve your goals!

This program has literally changed my life both physically and mentally. I will forever be hooked… My Coach, Shannon Franklin and the team of people I workout with are all amazing. I see new people begin and NOT long after you see a transformation. These workouts are fun and always varied.
