I’ve never had Indian food before. I enjoy the food, but I have no comparison. The tables are pretty. Everything appears to be clean. I’ve never been given a dirty or less than perfectly clean utensil, glass or plate. I usually get the buffet because I like to try new things — I’ve never eaten off the menu. I’ve ordered carry out and gotten wonderful service, on time and packaged appropriately. 4 stars because I wish there were better delivery options(they have delivery, but only for orders of $ 30 or more).

Family Went there at 6:15 pm tonight and left 7:45 without any food served. We had high expectation because me and my husband went there for dinner last night and the food was super good. We decided to take our children to taste a little bit India before we go to a movie. However, after at least 2 or 3 tables who came after us got food served and 3 of the takeouts picked up, we were still drinking the ice water, and the glasses were almost empty. The owner came and offed us 2 prices of snack and informed us everything will be right up in seconds all together. He then never turned back to us until my husband finished his 2 beers and my children completed their Lassi 40 minutes later. When the table behind us who are just seated within 10 minutes got their first dish to start, we felt that we had no choice but to leave. My children waited one and half hour for nothing, and still had to to catch a movie with an empty stomach. Terrible experience. I also feel bad for our waitress and another table who left with the similar experience with us. Our waitress is very nice.

Every entrée I have gotten has been full of flavor, not boring and lick-the-bowl, «can I go hug the chef?» delicious. The service is friendly and helpful with ordering. I love this place!

I LOVE this place whether for lunch buffer, or for dinner. The staff is kind, courteous, and quick to offer a dinner suggestion when I ordered off the menu for the first time. I had a little left to take home and it was as wonderfully delicious the following day as it was when it first arrived at my table. I may misspell this, but I believe the dish was called Mango Korma, which I had with lamb. The naan was fresh and delightfully garlic-infused without being overpowering. I have always been 100% happy with my food and dining experience here!

I never liked Indian curry before, but this place had totally changed my thoughts. My personal favorite is their goat curry, and the second, maybe goes to mango chicken. Naan is always good to have in Indian restaurants, and they make really delicious naans! The Aloo naans are amazing. So soft and smells good. I’d strongly advise people go to their lunch buffet to have a sample of each dish!

I love Indian food and am glad people continue to support this restaurant as I would be sad to see our only Indian restaurant go. I enjoy the lunch buffet so I can try new things. If you are looking for spicier versions, come back for the evening dinners where you can request your heat. Only reason I didn’t give it a 5 star is that I found not all the buffet food was hot but rather warm. Friendly staff and very accommodating to children.

This is a really, really good Indian restaurant. I’m from Boston, where I’m lucky enough to have access to some really, really good Indian restaurants, and I was first introduced to really, really good Indian food in NYC when I was a kid, and I can say quite happily that the chicken tikka marsala here is unmatched. I was eating the tomato sauce with a spoon. My fiancé ordered shrimp vindaloo and it was delicious. I don’t even normally eat shrimp, but I ate all his shrimp. We also had the poori and the raita and mixed pickle, the nan and daal, and the chaat, and it was all top-notch. The restaurant is charmingly decorated, not noisy even when almost full(as it was when we visited), and very clean, and overall it was a delightful dining experience. I’m so happy New Taste of India exists, since I have a family home just across the Mississippi in MN and as much as I love steaks and garden vegetables, a girl has to have her Indian food fix once in a while, like a lot! Thanks, New Taste!

Surprisingly good and unexpected for la crosse. Prices are a little steep, but the lunch buffet is very reasonable and definitely the way to go. I would have to say that Royal Thai in Onalaska has better flavor and seems fresher. The service is better here though.

We went for lunch buffet here stopping in LA Crosse for a road trip break. Looks like current owner got the place about a year ago. He and the other staff were very pleasant to talk to and were very prompt in checking with us how we were doing. We tried chicken, vegetarian items and sweets. Everything we tried was fantastic. I am so glad we ate here and would definitely recommend to check out this place.

For the sleepy city of La Crosse and the surrounding area chock full of chain restaurants, the Taste of India does a decent job of offering the area some spice. If you are looking for authentic Indian cuisine you may need to keep looking, however the Taste of India is a decent enough substitute to satisfy your needs. The restaurant is clean, the staff is friendly and the food tastes great.

Food was okay. Not excellent but not bad. Quick and attentive staff seated me promptly for the lunch buffet($ 9.99). Definitely got me full. The buttery naan wasn’t as good as the garlic naan. This place is like any other standard Indian restaurant with a lunch buffet. Location: It’s in the corner spot of a local plaza. Doesn’t pop out from Jackson St. but once you pull into the parking lot you’ll see it.

So I love the food and though I have visited many, many times… I have not been back in over a year. Ever time I consider going I remember how mean the, what I assume is the manager or head server, is. He was rude ever time I went borderlining on being just a solid jerk. I am thinking of going to see if he is gone and I can enjoy a meal without being treated poorly. The food is amazing. I recommend the lamb saag.

Veer and Kumar did a great job answering our questions and explaining how a few different dishes were prepared. My GF and I tried the tomato soup, buttered nan, a korma, a curry, and the chef happily prepared an off-menu Indian spinich dish called palak pakora. The condiments struck the correct balance of sweet, hot, salty, and acid. For dessert, they were out of the mango ice cream so we tried the pistachio ice cream and mango cake. Yum! Everything was delicious! If we lived in LaX, instead of St Paul, we’d eat here weekly!
