Discovered this place the other day. Lemon rice soup absolutely hits the spot on these cold days! Hummus was very good too. Will be going back again!

Food was okay, not fabulous. Called in a carry out order. Asked specifically for butter to be put in bag. Got to my destination and realized they had not given me silverware and there was NO butter either. My salad had extra feta AND extra anchovies which I asked for neither. And the 2 bottles of soda I bought cost almost as much as one entrée. Was not overly impressed. The lasagna was very strong spinach flavor, couldn’t even finish it.

Great lemon rice soup and good salads & sandwiches. Good Mediterranean cuisine with convenient location in downtown LaGrange.

It’s hard to beat the combination of fresh ingredients, consistency, and care and attention for customers this place exudes. The owners have been around, and are still around, inspiring a genuine hospitality and unique atmosphere that has been in town for years. A great brand, and yet, only one, very dedicated location, that has earned lots of regulars. My favorite dishes include the village salad and lemon-rice soup for starters, and the pastitsio and kreatopita, but they always have new specials. This may not be «four-star»(and $$$$$) dining, but the value and people are great.

Been here multiple times … Service is outstanding … Love the lemon rice chicken soup … A bit too expensive for what they serve and their style of restaurant …

After passing this place too many times to count, finally tried it last week because I had a taste for Greek food and didn’t want to venture out of the neighborhood. Ordered the Pastitio, Greek mac and cheese type of deal, but with some ground meat. It came with a salad and bread, the salad was super tasty. But the main course was SUPER dry and stingy on the sauce… which would have helped wash it down. And I KNOW this was bad Pastitio, because I hadn’t eaten in 24 hours due to a medical procedure and I was famished! Raw grape leaves would have tasted good to me at that point, but this… totally missed the mark.

Went to the Grapevine and what a disappointment. We ordered the kebab’s, and pastichio. First of all, ordering in that place is so awkward. Standing at a counter where nobody was there to take the order, so we thought if we sit somebody will come to the table. Anyway, however we got the order in it finally arrives and the kebab was nasty green, dry and all gristly. We call a staff member over and show this to him, his response was everybody complains about it! So they replaced it with some sort of chicken sandwich. The pastichio wasn’t bad, but what I don’t get is everything came with rice, Rice, RICE and the pastichio even came with Greek potatoes. Pastichio is a macaroni dish, STARCH, rice, STARCH, potatoes, STARCH!!! The only thing you get a ton of is RICE! Who created this menu? Very awkward from the get-go, won’t be going back.

I agree with many others about The Grapevine. I ordered the chicken kebab and my husband ordered the souvlaki kebab. Both were bland with very little chicken, which was dry. I also agree about the tatziki sauce, bland, chopped cucumbers with water. The vegetables in the pita sandwich were weird: big chunks of onion and peppers with no seasoning and there were not many of them. I have had much better kebabs at street fairs. The chicken lemon soup was ok but not as good as what you find in Greektown. Again, somewhat bland. We go to this place because friends of ours love it but the owners really need to taste their own food and make some changes. Finally, I have never found the staff here to be friendly and the prices are on the high side. Why go?

Food was not that tasty and service even worse :(you have to sit yourself then get your own menu but one tells you that. Then you have to order by going to the counter. For the money we paid it was NOT worth it. We will not be back

I have been wanting to try this place forever! I had a perfect opportunity to grab a carry out from here the other night. The menu is on the small side but there’s plenty to choose from! You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. They also have wine and if think beer. The wine selection is decent considering it’s a casual restaurant. I ordered the hummus, village salad, chicken-ka-bob and lemon chicken soup. Everything was wonderful and even survived my 30 minute drive home. I will absolutely eat here again. I can’t wait to try the other entrees!

I am a regular here and can’t say enough about how much I love it! I have yet to try something that I don’t like. Nothing on their menu disappoints. Their home made focaccia bread is to DIE for — side note, I am Italian and am a tough critic for focaccia bread! You cannot go wrong with anything you get from here!

Just OK. I went with a group of four adults and one child. Other reviewers were right when they described the atmosphere as «quaint,» «cute» and«casual;» however, the elevator muzak was a little off-putting. For appetizers, we ordered the feta cheese with kalamata olives and the bruschetta. Both were good, but nothing extraordinary. I ordered the Souvlaki – the pork had a nice texture to it, but was a little under-seasoned. Hubby got the chicken ke-bob, and we found the chicken to be really dry. My in-laws ordered the gyros pizza, which was a little bland. The highlight of the meal was the lemon chicken rice soup. Though it was creamy, zesty and satisfying on a cold winter day, after having read so many rave reviews about it, I honestly expected a little more. I found one tiny bite of chicken in the entire bowl. I did like their system of ordering at the counter when you’re ready and grabbing your own ice waters — we were waiting on a member of our party and didn’t have to feel rushed to order once she got there. The value was decent for the amount of food.(Word to the wise, the pizza on the kids’ meal is huge!) Anyway, if you’re looking for a fast, casual restaurant that’s a little off the beaten path, this one’s fine.

My #1 favorite restaurant when I am in the Chicago area. I like The Grapevine’s cute and casual atmosphere and its well-executed café cuisine. We have been coming to this restaurant since it opened some 18 or so years ago. We used to live in town and I remember placing the baby’s car seat in an upside down high chair. Fast forward to our post-Thanksgiving lunch last week – «baby» is a college student now! In fact, «Baby» ordered my all time favorite, the tequila lime pollo sandwich. Still great after all these years — the bread is divine, the cilantro lime mayo is fab and the chicken is flavorful and juicy. This sandwich comes with a choice of side. I used to get the potato salad — it’s great with very intense garlic flavor. My husband and I used to make a deal that if one ordered it, the other did too! Husband had the sausage penne and I was lucky enough to snag a couple of zesty morsels. The sausage was very flavorful and tickled your tongue without overpowering. Teenaged son inhaled – absolutely inhaled – his super cheesy lasagna. No, he did not offer a taste to anyone, as is our custom. grr. haha. He also ate half of Aunt’s chicken sand with avocado and I’m not sure what else. Grandma chose a light lunch and raved about the chicken barley soup. I had a large greek salad, which was just what I wanted after a heavy meal the previous day, and we all shared pita and hummus. I loves me the pita here. We usually order the fantastic tzatziki as well, but we just didn’t have time and appetitie. Seriously, I can’t say enough about this restaurant. I just love it.

Reliably good Mediterranean food. Greek and Italian influences, primarily. Prices are reasonable for the generous portions and quality of ingredients. Walk up service is quick and convenient. We always tip our«server» at the table. Never a wait for a table, and quick and paced food service. Friendly staff throughout. Nothing negative to say about one of my favorite restaurants in LaGrange. Flavor intensity perhaps varies a bit, but nothing too intolerable. Made from scratch soups are a yummy appetizer.

Thinking a mediterranean restaurant would have a great Greek salad, I ordered theirs. I was VERY disappointed. Iceberg lettuce, 4 cucumber slices, 4 olives, 4 tomato slices, no anchovies, no pepperonici(as it stated in the menu) and only 2 small pieces of feta cheese. I called after I left. The lady on the phone was unapologetic. She said, that’s just the way we do it. Well, I’ll go somewhere else from now on.

Adventure Fridays have tapered off due to my daughter being employed full time.(Yay!) But my sister and I have done a few Adventure Fridays, «sisters only» and when we went here it was to celebrate her birthday. I was glad to have her with me as the ordering, getting your drinks, procedure might have been confusing. We split the frittata and the appetizer platter and both were good but what we did not split was the soup. I was thrilled to have the delicious bowl of lemon chicken rice soup all to myself. It was a nice time, we got to sit and talk undisturbed and eating the appetizer plate. I wish I had some of that feta cheese and olives right now. I would go back even if it wasn’t my sister’s birthday.
