Now closed. Owner has decided to sell to an Oldham Co. couple who plan to open another resturant in the same location.

We found our way to main st where a train runs down the middle of the street! It was very cool. There was a parking spot right in front of the restaurant. We went in, got a table immediately, and was served our drinks in less than 5 min. The menu has a good selection of the Irish cuisine. I had salmon and potatoes. Delicious! If you like beer, they have plenty of the Irish brews available.

La Grange is a very cool small historic town, so small, even the train still runs through the center of town. The Irish Rover is an awesome little restaurant, which seemed like it attracts a lot of locals. The waitstaff is friendly and fast, not that long of wait even though it was quite crowded. As far as the food goes the fried cheese curds were an amazing appetizer and although the fish & chips were highly recommended by our server, they honestly don’t compare to fish & chips served in New England. Overall though a great establishment. Highly recommend.

I can’t understand the world the other reviewers are in. As far as the bar goes, it does not. The bartenders are not friendly, affable, or very professional. The few times I’ve been in there the bartenders were conversing with anyone else, so I could while away my time gazing at the tv. Of course that is inexplicitly behind you towards the door. Besides the bartenders I don’t know who can watch the tv. Since it is always on European soccer, there ain’t much of a reason to watch, except of course the bartenders are all talking to one guy or painfully flirting with the guy that lives in his basement. Ok, maybe he was flirting with her and it may not be his basement, but damn I cannot recall wanting to leave a pub faster. This is not a good bar.

This review is for the Irish Rover Too in Lagrange. We used to frequent the other one when we lived in Clifton, but since we moved to the East side of town, this one is easier to get to. It’s also nicer, IMO. In the heart of downtown La Grange. We have been here many times. Every time I come here I have the Traditional Irish Brunch — sausages, bacon, eggs, bread, tomato & boxty(potato cake). Some things are too good to change. It is the closest thing to the Traditional English breakfast that I grew up with. The sausage rolls are nice to. If you’re lucky, you might get to watch a train rumbling down the street, yards from the front door… The food and service are always good, and we just keep coming back.

Wow, what a place. True Irish Pub. Order a Guinness and its poured the correct way, slow. Excellent service and great atmosphere. Highly recommend the Sticky Toffee Cake for desert. Homemade for sure. Damn near licked the plate. Food was great, had the Salmon.

Our family of 14 visited recently at lunchtime on a Saturday. The service was great, even with so many of us. We had one waiter, John, who kept all the drinks filled and check on us often. We had the Bubble and Squeak potato cakes and the Scotch eggs as appetizers. I thought the potato cakes could have used a little more seasoning, but the Scotch eggs were fantastic! We highly recommend them! I chose the Cashel Chicken as my main course, which was wonderful. I heard no complaints from any other family members, either. They all seemed very happy and satisfied with their dinner choices. The sourdough bread was good, too. Everything I ate exceeded my expectations. I was very pleasantly surprised!

Cozy and inviting. Fish and chips were crispy and delicious — a little bit of heaven paired with a pint of Smithwicks. I love the Potato Leek soup, of course washed down with a pint. Even the plain bread is good. Wait staff always friendly. Highly recommend!

I’d give the Irish Rover a higher rating were it not for one incredibly important question: How can an Irish pub screw up fish and chips? I don’t know how it’s even possible, but it is. On the day we visited, our fish wasn’t cooked all the way through — it was cold and hard in the middle. We sent it back, and received a second plate of fish and chips that looked and tasted exactly the same — not fully cooked. I’ve been back to the Rover since, but have stayed away from the fried fish. Some always-safe choices: their excellent blackened salmon salad; the farmer’s plate; and the salmon burger.
