I inherited several pieces of estate jewelry worth quite a bit of money. The pieces were gorgeous and very valuable but not my style. I made the decision to part with the pieces, trying a few different jewelry buyers in Los Angeles. I went to at least three or four and either didn’t like what they were offering me or wasn’t comfortable with the person I was dealing with. So I waited. And started internet researching. I found Fletcher at Diamond Estate Jewelry Buyers and didn’t even have to leave my house for any of the transaction. Everything was done via email and photo attachments, then a seamless FedEx overnight shipment which they paid for. My jewelry was looked at and by 6pm that day I had a very fair offer for my pieces. They offered me almost twice as much as the first jeweler I had seen. We accepted the offer and the money was wired to our account within 24 hours. Fletcher was super pleasant and prompt in communicating. He really knew what he was talking about and was an honest and all around nice guy. We are really pleased with our transaction.

With all the 5 star glowing reports here I’m sure I’ll come across as an embittered nobody but my experience with this business was far less than what everyone else experienced. The only reason I’m giving this place two stars is because when I finally did get my bottle of water, I kept getting bottles of water because nobody knew if I’d ever actually received it so thank you, ladies who work there. First of all, the emails between Paula and me regarding my mother’s ring were prompt and all went well. I provided photos and information requested and then? Nothing. Finally, I emailed her back and she said to send the ring, insure it, and so on but I had made it very clear I live in San Diego/La Jolla and wanted to set up a meeting to bring my ring in. Ok, she finally got that and that’s fine. Secondly, Paula directed me to find a place to park on the street. Not sure where people are getting the idea they set aside a place for you but that was not the case for me. Parking in La Jolla is a nightmare as we all know who live here but I found a place and arrived 6 minutes prior to my appointment. You ring a bell, they let you in. I announced that I was early and if that was inconvenient(because there were other customers there in a very small area) I would be fine waiting outside. Oh, no! I was told to sit down and wait. Thirdly, while I waited, a man chose the five minutes before our meeting to eat his lunch and I asked again if I should wait outside even though there’s no seating outside, I just felt uncomfortable but, oh no, you’re fine. Well, I wasn’t fine but figured this was just something unusual, they had been super busy and rolled with it. Fourth, and most disturbing of all, is that during the few minutes I had to wait the man in charge/owner decided it was a good time to chastise an employee and lecture her in front of me, quite loudly over the handling of mailing/insuring an item. I found this extremely unprofessional. Lastly, when I finally got around to meeting with the man, I had to ask his name because he himself admitted that he thought everybody knew who he was. That’s not how you meet people. So, I met Carl. Carl did not have my information in front of him, he appeared disorganized, and, again, had not done his homework on any of the interaction I had had with Paula previously. He asked me what I felt was a price I’d feel comfortable with and then said he already had given me one and that wasn’t truly the case. What the situation really was was that I had received, before seeing the ring, an offer but a request to get a final price after Carl had seen the piece. This logic seemed lost on Carl. Needless to say, and I’ve had this ring appraised by several jewelers and he was mistaken on the price point and any markings and I will sell it elsewhere for a higher price and what it is truly worth. He just said to take the ring to Carlsbad and get a GIA report on it when a GIA appraiser had already done that and he knows the stone has to come out of the ring and with an older ring like mine, any kind of damage can be done. I will never do business there again and I’m sorry about htat because this used to be a top notch organization. Perhaps I got them on an off day but you never, ever talk to staff like that in front of a customer, if you’re reading this, Carl. Never.

Carl and Paula at Diamond Estate Jewelry Buyers are professional, fair, and knowledgeable. I have worked with other jewelers in San Diego and Carl and Paula are BYFAR the best. Carl is a true expert — He will research your pieces and explain his findings, unlike many jewelers who provide quotes with no research behind them. Paula is phenomenal at coordinating meetings and transactions. I will be working with them again! 5 stars!

Paula and Carl were really amazing to deal with when we sold a couple of items. They were incredibly fair, prompt and professional — about as good as it gets. If the occasion arises, we will definitely be happy to do business with them again!

Excellent service. I sold them my old watch that got too small for my wrist. The price paid was at the upper end of what I was quoted elsewhere and the entire process took 3 days. If you want to avoid the hassle of eBay, this is the way to go. Paula is great to work with.
