Fried rice and meat balls are great. I’ve been here more than thirty times. It’s close to UCSD campus, and it offers affordable delicious food. Also, it’s right beside AMC, so it’s a good place to have meal before a movie. Unfortunately, Ginza gonna close forever.

Came here for a quick lunch during my gap between classes, and I was not impressed… I walked in at 1:00pm on a Tuesday, and there were about 4 customers in the entire restaurant. They were far from busy, but it took longer than 5 minutes for anyone to assist me at the front. When one of the workers(middle aged woman) finally took my to-go order, I kindly asked if I could actually dine in(literally 20 seconds after I said it was to-go) and that was more than enough to stir up her sparky attitude. She slammed her note pad down, looked up and said, «Fine, where do you wanna sit and what do you wanna drink.» Aside from the poor service, the food was okay. I only ordered the house salad and the eel roll. The roll was just average. Another downfall is that there’s construction going on so a lot of the doors are open. I had to fight off flies left and right while eating. They even landed on my chopsticks a couple of times. Also note that there’s a minimum for credit cards(I believe it’s $ 10). Either way, I’m willing to give this place another shot for their food, but their service definitely isn’t up to par.

Where do I even begin? So I agreed to go to this place blindly pretty much. This guy asked me if I wanted to grab Chinese food and I said ok. He was like«there’s this place I wanna try in La Jolla or this other place in Clairemont». Ok, cool, La Jolla is closer, what’s the place called? He proceeded to tell me he didn’t know the name of the place, but it was by the La Jolla AMC. That it was a Japanese restaurant but had a hidden Chinese menu. Once I get there, I ask again, what it’s called. He tells me its the sushi spot between Ross and a deli. He still doesn’t tell me the name! OMG, never trust a guy who you met on Tinder… Literally 2 minutes after I park and I am walking he says Ginza. Of course I pull it up on my Unilocal app… I should’ve just got back in the car… Anyways, onto my experience here. They do have a Chinese menu. It’s small. The place is Chinese owned. The dude ordered: — xiao long bao(not very good, comes in the bamboo steam crate though!) — Shanghai noodles(not good, Panda Express is better) — broccoli(we asked them what vegetables they had for the night, and it was this or Napa cabbage. Pretty much we got served plain stir fried broccoli) I have had way better food. The lady who served us was nice. But I also spoke Mandarin to her, so she might have been nicer to me because of that lol.

We waited 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged us, the food came out in weird waves with dry chicken and smelly cream sauces. I’m not sure if everything was fresh or from a heat light and the AWESOME roll almost made me vomit. It was not awesome!

This is my go to sushi place around La Jolla. Prompt service, fresh fish, and skilled cooks make this a great place for $ 2 nigiri.

Wouldn’t recommend this place. I’ve been here several times and each time the waitresses would bring me to the table in a very rushed manner, and before I had the chance to open the menu I was immediately asked to order. The food is barely passable and there are flies constantly flying around the place.

Stay away from Ginza Sushi! I have to honestly say that this had to be the worst sushi I have ever had! I honestly think the Sushi Chef ran over to Ralph’s… picked up a few rolls, un-packaged it, and threw it on my plate. No, I take that back, I think Ralph’s sushi probably taste a lot better. I paid $ 30 for their 4×4 special, a California roll, and a Shrimp Tempura roll. I swear every roll had the same ingredients inside(a piece of carrot, a chunk of imitation crab, and a sliver of cucumber). Way too much rice, and the tempura(Ha!) was soggy. Part of the 4×4 was a sample of a rainbow roll. The fish placed on top was definitely not fresh and had a weird taste to it. Ginza Sushi is right next to AMC La Jolla. If you want to make it the whole way thru your movie… DONOTEATATGINZASUSHI!

I ate here because of its proximity to the movie theater… Big mistake. This has to be the nastiest most unfresh sushi in La Jolla. I am actually contemplating calling the health inspectors. I found black things slimy floating in my drink, the tempura was old and oily… All bad!!!

Walking in, we really didn’t have high expectations, however it really wasn’t too bad of a place to grab a snack before our late night movie. The hostess and server were both very nice, and although the $ 8 Shrimp Tempura roll was oddly on the warm side, it definitely wasn’t the worst we have had. My suggestion would be to capture some of the late night business with a revised venue since there isn’t much open in this area after 9. 3 stars overall for decent pricing and friendly service.

I love this place. Cozy, neighborhood spot for a lunch while watching a movie. The guy who owns it runs the place well, and watches to make sure everyone is happy. Say hi to him when you ride the escalator down to the movies.

The soda tasted funny, the rice in the rolls were a little too sticky, and the sushi was a little bland. It’s a convenient little place if you’re going to see a movie, or got hungry while shopping. Otherwise, I would skip it.

Sorry looking salad, table smelled funky, sushi fell apart, gyoza tasteless, overall experience sucked although waitress was nice. My 1st Unilocal review and sorry to report a negative one.

I work in the same building as this place. I was really hoping to have an awesome lunch spot to go to on my work days. I had high hopes this would be my lunch spot but I was wrong. It was mediocre. The food was ok, flavors were nothing spectacular to really describe. I went with my coworkers and we shared a variety of things from salad to pot stickers and sushi. It was all pretty plain. I was just happy that the waitress brought over sriracha to add flavor! I may come here again for salad but honestly nothing really was that great and the service was slow. We had to ask for our checks in order to get back to work on time.

I came here for dinner before going to see a movie at the AMC right next to it. The lady server tried to rush us a lot. She asked us if we were ready like 10 minutes after sitting down, which is cool. Then she came back like 5 minutes later and asked again. Maybe we were slow because we were indecisive and maybe she was just trying to be proactive, but it felt uncomfortable. Anyway, I just got the fried calamari appetizer for $ 7 because I wasn’t all that hungry. It wasn’t that good, just thin squid rounds deep fried in a ton of fattening batter. I was hoping it’d be better since this is an Asian restaurant but I’ve had better fried calamari at an Italian place. My friend got the Ginza sushi roll and LOVEDIT. She said it tasted really good and she’d definitely get it again. I didn’t eat it because it had raw tuna and salmon, but it looked good, and it must be good since it’s named after the restaurant, lol. So I’m giving this 3 stars. I’ll probably come here again just because it’s conveniently located next to the best movie theater in SD, but I’ll for sure come on an empty stomach and order whatever’s their best next time :)

We love this place the owners and servers know us. My husband and I have been going there since the late 90’s. The food is fantastic and so is the service. Now we bring all our kids there with us. Great for dates and for the whole family

Let me just start with the introduction. The waitress that sat me and my kids was not inviting at all. In fact there was no smile from her the whole time we were dining. Right away I wanted to just get up and walk out of there but I decided to stay and give her a chance and the good a chance. Now to review the food. I ordered the original ramen– very very very bland. Even after adding a few tablespoons of soy sauce AND salt it still lacked taste. The pork that it came with tasted chewy and old. Both my kids ordered the shrimp tempura roll– this was just straight up disgusting. Nothing about this was fresh. The rice tasted sour. yuck! The avocado was really mushy which meant they used over ripened avocados, in fact I took one roll apart and the avocado was that brownish/greenish color! Ewww! The only positive about this place is that it’s located next to the movie theatre and that was the only reason why we went here but I will not be back.

More pricy then my normal SDAYCE spots but this is La Jolla remember. With tax it’s $ 32 for the offer. Select seperate menu to order apps, rolls, hand rolls and nigiri from. Good slection to. Fish is fresh, service is faster then My AYCE place I have been to even on a busy Saturday night which is a plus! Very kind staff always checking on you. It is in a mall next to a theater and its not huge but I like that. Easy spot to grab quality sushi before or after a flick or while shopping around. If I lived any closer I’d be here weekly so good thing I don’t!

Crew here are nice and pretty fast based on my visits and i always order the Unagi Don(eel). The portions are good(some japanese resto serves more rice than the unagi) but they serve it proportionally with the size of the unagi. People come here and have dinner or lunch before seeing a movie which is a great idea since i’ve done it twice now. The meal tastes wonderful although i know that unagi is high in calories LoL(anyway i don’t eat it too often so i guess i’ll be ok). I haven’t tried any other food here so my review is pretty biased to only the unagi meal.

You know, I loved this place about 15 years ago. It was THE place is go for sushi in the UTC area, but sadly, the more recent visit is similar to more recent reviews. I found the service to all be fine. I took my order to go. I got the 4×4, which was 4 pieces each of crunch roll, California roll, a spicy roll and a rainbow roll for $ 11.99. I also got a mixed Maki roll with 5 pieces of mixed sushi for $ 11.99. There was plenty of food, but the sushi wasn’t refined. The rice was kind of soggy and the fish wasn’t as fresh as I’d like. This place needs to revamp and refresh. It needs some management TLC so it can be the great go to sushi spot that it once was.

Used to come here before the movies a LONG time back, almost 20 yrs ago, and it was pretty good sushi. I decided to give it another try, despite all the mediocre Unilocal reviews, but I think it’s gone a bit downhill over time. Tried the 4×4 sushi special, w/4 rolls each if Rainbow Roll, California Roll, Crunchy roll(w/tempura shrimp), and spicy crab roll. They were ok, but not the best flavor, and the fish and rice were both kind of tough. Ordered some edamame, and the bad news was that it came out after we finished our sushi. Good news was that it was fresh, warm, and the best part of the meal! Might come back to give the ramen a try, based on convenience factor; we’ll see.
