Very cool brewery with some great food options and a huge space to chill in. there is an event space in the back room as well for parties and stuff.

Well it was before 11:30AMPST but the first full day on the west coast traveling from the east still made it feel like 2:30PMEST so we didn’t feel too bad knocking back a few pints prior to lunch. The bartender was the brewer who was extremely nice and generous with several tasters of all the beers in the place. Gave us many other recommendations for restaurants and sights on our CA adventure!

Came here with my friend and her two kids for lunch on a Sunday. We waited 15 minutes before our drink order was taken in a very sparsely populated restaursnt. Once our order was finally taken we did not see our waiter again for another 30 minutes meanwhile we witnessed the waitress talking on her cell phone and the male waiter sneaking bites of food by the bar. Our food came out and my friend’s son had ordered a quesadilla with no onion and received one with extra onions in it. We sent it back because he’s allergic and didn’t receive a new one for 45 minutes while the rest of the table had finished eating. I am very disappointed in the service and will never be coming back.

Yikes! The beer is overpriced and tastes awful, only giving 2 stars because the bathroom was nice. This is the first stop on our«Beer-Diego» trip, hope it gets better from here!

Ok beer. Nice wait staff. It just wasn’t what I’ve come to expect from a micro brewery. The beer wasn’t memorable. The stout and Pilsner were decent but the IPA had a funky aftertaste that I personally didn’t care for. Everyone was very nice although we weren’t offered food which we’d planned on getting. I think they have some growing up to do. Not a terrible place just haven’t set themselves apart yet.

Wow, this is so sad. I was so looking forward to my first evening here. Brought my friends from Norway for their last night out in the US on a Thursday night. First of all their beer selection SUCKS! They were out of almost everything! The one home-brewed IPA they did have looked like muddy water(light brown, opaque). No foam. The waitress said that it was this way cause it was just finished brewing, and that it would taste the same. NO. It tasted like dirty water. I was so embarrassed and sad that I had chosen la jolla brewing company to show my friends, when SD has so many great breweries. The food was mediocre at best. Not coming back.

Came here for happy hour on a Wednesday, and it was almost empty! We sat on the outside patio, in front of a nice warm fire. The menu didn’t have as much of a variety as I had hoped, but from what I tried, the food was really good bar food. I got the fish n chips; the pieces of fish were pretty big and the fries were standard. The tatar sauce that came with it was really good, I ended up getting a refill on it to finish off my fish. My friend got the ceviche. It came in a bowl of half ceviche and half guacamole with plenty of chips. I had a mai tai and it was well worth my money, I was buzzin off of one already! My friend tried their mango beer and it was also really tasty to me, a not usual beer drinker.

I liked it, i’ll be back, but to be honest not on par with some of the more seasoned breweries in town such as alesmith or stone. however, cool HH deals, great vibe and service and nice solid refreshing beers all around.

Came here for a late lunch midweek while visiting La Jolla and I can see this place being popular with the locals. And rightly so because it’s a beautiful huge space with a great menu that big groups and couples can enjoy a nice meal. I had the 2-piece fish and chips and was shocked at how big the portions were. Once I started eating, I noticed the ends were mostly just fried batter but there was still a good size portion of actual fish(I think mahi mahi). The fries were also really good — medium thick cut with a good amount of seasoning. A small side of cole slaw came with it and it was delicious — made with broccoli, walnuts, carrots and cranberries. Everything went well together. Service was friendly but because it was a slow time, the wait staff were standing around chatting with each other and one of them had a really loud laugh. I mean obnoxiously so that the other waitress would look around embarrassed. Once is fine but she kept cracking up every 5 minutes and her laugh would reverberate throughout the whole place that made it a little awkward/unprofessional.

This place is actually a really cool and nicely appointed brewery located right in the heart of La Jolla. The establishment itself is very nicely done, complete with indoor/outdoor seating and very friendly staff. The brew is actually very good and the menu items appeared awesome. If you’re looking for a nice little brewery around La Jolla, this is a very nice option. Pros– Nicely decorated Good brews Friendly service Indoor/outdoor seating Nicely positioned TVs Good prices Outdoor firepits Good menu Cons– Tough parking at times Can get loud

Went here to grab a bite before the comedy show. TIP: the menu on Unilocal is totally outdated, they’ve changed their menu so there’s a lot of items they no longer carry. Overall it’s a chill relaxing place. What we ordered: 1) bacon and goat cheese flat bread: meh… way too much goat cheese even for me…(and I love cheese). 2) shrimp Mac n cheese: really good if you don’t mind the steep price tag. About $ 22 bucks. I don’t think I’ve ever paid that much even for lobster Mac n cheese BUT couldn’t help myself that day.(I love cheese) 3) steak quesadilla: meh… nothing special. Comes with beans and guacamole. We asked for salsa as well. It too had cheese in it(I love cheese). Overall…check it out!

Decent food, cool ambiance and great service. All that and three stars?!? Yup. The zip code driven pricing leaves a bad taste in your mouth– even with a good draft list and yummy flat bread. We chose vet conservatively and still felt like it was steep: Two beers, mahi sandwich, and a house salad was almost $ 40. We had a good time with friends, and knew it wasn’t going to be cheap, we just didn’t feel like there was any real value there. That said, great location and cool layout with good service. I won’t work to avoid it but wouldn’t really recommend it either.

Decent place. Very spacious with plenty of seating both inside and outside. Outside there’s a couple fire pits set up. The have a small private parking lot right outside. Beer and drink selection is pretty good. Try the Sunny Jim’s IPA! Food was average, nothing special. They have a lunch special from 11am — 3pm with about 5 different items for 9.95 each. We ended up ordering the Bourbon Bratwurst(3.5÷5) and the Crunchy Shrimp Cali Wrap(3⁄5). Will definitely be back for drinks but will probably grab food elsewhere.

Yesterday, we went to have dinner with my husband and two of our friends. It was our first time there. I liked the fact that they take reservations, that is a big plus for me at a brewery. The restaurant had a great atmosphere and great outside seating too. Service was great, our waitress was very patient, knowledgeable about the food served there and attentive to provide what we needed throughout the night. The food was delicious. You CAN ask if you can switch your side ex: instead of fries, you can order the homemade chips. I ordered the La Jolla shrimp roll. It was great. We also ordered the homemade bbq chips to share and that was amazing! The prices were very reasonable, food portions, great taste= well worth it. They should update their Unilocal re: menu because a lot of the food listed are not available(from like a few years ago). If you are like me and want to look at the menu before you go, look at their web page. The menu is accurate there. The only down side of this place: Poor internet connection and poor wi-fi connection(of course not a deal-breaker). Parking is available, but very small. We parked across the street near Vons, where there are plenty of spaces.

Yes! Come here! Try it! We were in town to see a friend at The Comedy Store. And found this place thanks to Unilocal. The hostess was courteous and friendly. There was a section closed off due to a leak. She explained to everyone who came in that there was construction going on, but everyone was safe and it would be fixed tomorrow(3÷2÷16). There selection of beers was impressive. We don’t drink anymore, but watched others around us order. Two servers and a busser interacted with patrons about the beers. They seemed Knowledgeable and eager to make recommendations. The bar was pretty stocked too. At 6:30pm on a Tuesday, half the bar and all the(not under construction) dining room table were in use. There were a few empty tables in the patio. Point here is-The waitress shared with us that it was a slower night, but it seemed busy to us. She said weekends are popping there. And Tuesday is trivia night, which was a different spin. Fun, but a tad distracting since it’s announced through the restaurant’s speaker system. The menu is stunning. There were several items I want to go back for and try. Our waitress was super nice and attentive. The food came out extremely quickly, hot and beautiful! We decided on the ceviche appetizer. It’s really more like ½ a bowl of cooked fish Pico de Gallo and ½ a bowl of guacamole. The chips served with it were crispy and sprinkled in a Lucas-like spice. So delicious! So filling! I could get that for myself and be full! Hubby ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger… It’s named something else on the menu, but oooohhh… Man… It was delicious! Ordered medium rare, it was juicy, and not just from the meat but the pickled red onions and pickles, lettuce and tomatoes. But the best part, beside the crispy large bacon, was the horseradish mayo inside the soft delicious bun! Sweet, meaty, cheesy, smoky, and a tad spicy. Perfect! I ordered the steak quesadilla. It was cheesey, the steak was tender, and was served with a smoky cream sauce around the rim of the plate, small ramekins of black beans and more guacamole. Mmm. It was so hearty, even I couldn’t finish it. To go! Around us, people were ordering Flatbreads that looked and smelled amazing, shrimp wraps, garlic goat cheese dips, and salads. We live 1.5 hours away, but will be back!

New year, new management! They have updated their staff, service, and menu. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it only has been 1 – 2 months since the new management. The menu is shortened to focus more on a quality casual coastal cuisine. I came here on a Saturday night with two other friends. We were seated immediately, I ordered the Fish & Chips and the Killer IIPA. My friends ordered the clam chowder, basket of fries, double chocolate hazlenut porter, and Cove Side Stout. The Fish & Chips were crispy and moist. The house made tartar sauce was perfectly well made and it came with a nice cole slaw that helped balance the fried food. One of the employees came to check in with us and offered the Malt Vinegar for my Fish & Chips, I was excited because I love Malt Vinegar with my fries(you da homie!). The Killer IIPA was really hoppy which makes me very hoppy ^_^ My friends’ porter and stout was also really good which means a lot coming from a die hard IPA drinker. I later on tried their Flight of Five Original Core Beers which was a deal to try since I wanted to try 3 out of their 5 beers anyways. I liked all five of them but my favorites were Sunny Jim’s IPA and Bird Rock Brown. My friends said they enjoyed the clam chowder and the fries were good but a bit oversalted. The menu has a «coming soon» section that confused me because it wasn’t stated when it was coming??? Such a tease! But I do like the new changes and I’m happy to have given La Jolla Brewing Company another chance. Great food, beer, and service!

We came here for trivia the other week and had a good ‘ol time. It’s nice that they have huge open windows to the patio(and heat lamps!) so we were able to play and have our pup with us. +1 star just for that! While we were playing we tried the calamari, some wings, and the BBQ chicken flatbread. All the food was pretty standard; nothing to complain about but nothing out of the ordinary. I do wish the calamari came with a tartar sauce in addition to the marinara. This girl loves her tartar sauce. The trivia host was friendly and entertaining even though there were only a handful of us playing. I was sippin’ on the Glider Port Pale all night and enjoyed it thoroughly. Not too high of an alcohol percentage and a perfect amount of hops. If we ever feel like playing trivia on a Tuesday with our pup, we’ll definitely be back.

Came in with my fiancée to grab a couple beers. Walked in and we were immediately greeted by the bartender. Very friendly staff and really good beers. Nice place to hang out and any game thats going on. They have a few TVs there and lots of seating. $ 12 for a flight of 5 of your choice or $ 10 for a preset flight of 4 not bad. Hats off to KC– very friendly and knowledgeable. He was quick to replace a taster as he saw me shoo’ing it away from my fiancée’s beer. He gave us a taster of a seasonal beer, pumpkin ale with brown sugar on the rim– interesting with beer, but paired pretty well. Their IPAs were delicious. I forgot what the name was, but i had to get a pint… so i did. We did not get a chance to try the food, but next time my fiancée are in the area, we will definitely stop back in.

My friends and I were looking to grab a drink from a place with a fun vibe that wasn’t too aggressive, even on a Friday night. We stumbled upon La Jolla Brewing Company and it was perfect! We sat on the outdoor patio, which was really cute and comfortable. They have a nice beer list with house made brews as well as other favorites from places like Green Flash and Ballast. We just ordered drinks but it was a nice atmosphere and a lot of fun. I really like the open air nature of the restaurant with fun interior décor and excellent outdoor options. While we were there, we were also offered little shooters of Jose Cuervo’s new cinnamon tequila. Pretty good minus the scorpions they asked us if we wanted to pick up for a picture. We were all too afraid!
