I met Layla by buying a blow dry certificate at my daughter’s school auction. When she met me she also told me i should make some changes to my hair color and length as these would make me look younger and more dynamic. I am preparing to become a public figure who will inspire women to transform their lives through nutrition. I was brave to listen to her suggestions and she inspired in me confidence that she had the expertise. I am so glad i made these changes. I have received so many complements and I really believe this new look goes better with my new public image.

Layla, without any input from me, perfectly cut my hair in a way I had forgotten I love! She definitely knows how to cut your hair perfectly for your face shape. She took me from wearing my hair in a pony tail every day to styling my hair and wearing it down the majority of the time. Complete transformation. I highly recommend Layla and I recommend that you give her artistic license to do what she thinks is best! You will not be disappointed!

Absolute BEST haircut I have ever received! Layla knows exactly what she is doing and knows what will work the best for your face and style! She asks knew exactly what I wanted, without me even having to tell her! Her salon is beautiful, very warm, friendly, inviting atmosphere. She treats you like you have known her for years, very personable. (Her coffee is amazing too!) She only uses the best products on your hair and you truly feel pampered! I appreciate Layla’s expertise and confidence in her skills. She was able to take the style that I had (we wish we had done a «before picture») and envision what would be life and body in a way that would frame my face in a way that works for me. She was also very patient in explaining to me and showing me why my previous cut had just been falling flat as well as what styling techniques and tips would help. Now I’m able to have a fresh start! I came to Layla about two months ago because my husband had started going to her and he really liked his hair cuts and so did I. His cuts were much more contemporary. I already had my regular hair dresser (well known in La Jolla), and was pretty satisfied with him, but I was willing to give her a try. I had heard she use to work in Beverly Hills and had much experience working with celebrities. I figured ok if she can beatify a celebrity I should be able to trust her. After she assessed my hair color, she said it was the wrong color for me and it washed me out. I was kind of surprised, I thought my color was fine. She explained thoroughly what she wanted to do to my hair color and assured me I would be happy with it. Let me add, I am very picky about my hair color, so I was a bit hesitant to have her change anything. After about 3+ hours in the chair (takes longer if your coming for the first time and getting a color change, highlights & cut), I’m happy to say I was thrilled with the end result! I have the hair color I have finally wanted, similar to Jennifer Lopez :) My color is so natural & classy! I have received many compliments about my hair color. Go see Layla, especially if you need a color fix. She is an expert and her hair cuts are also very good. Let me add, I pay the same as I did with my other hair dresser. She’s worth every penny!

To be honest, before the haircut I was feeling a bit uneasy and nervous when Layla told me that she’s going to «fix» my current hairdo and give me a completely new look. After all, I had a work Christmas party to attend that very evening… Well, after receiving many positive comments from my coworkers that night, to say «I’m glad that I got my hair cut by Layla» would be a gross understatement! She certainly has the knack for envisioning what kind of hairstyle would be good for an individual and the skills of bringing that into reality. I highly recommend her!

This woman is very unprofessional! After cutting my hair with dull scissors and giving me the worst haircut of my life she refused to fix it the next day. The ends of my hair were frizzy and there was no style. Just random chunks cut out. After she cashed my check she refused to return my calls or make any attempt to fix what she did.
Do not let this woman cut or color your hair!

I stumbled upon this place when another hairdresser in the complex gave me poor directions. I was with my good friend (who is a guy). So, we ended up being able to make a walk in appointment with Layla who helped him find the right cut and style for his hair. She was very kind and patient with him (as he wasn’t sure what he wanted) and made us both feel at ease in the private studio. She gave him a very professional haircut and I’m now planning to drive out of my way to continue seeing her when it’s time for me to get my own hair cut. Fantastic service! Great men’s cut!

This is the first time I can truly say that the reviews on Unilocal were not accurate.
The customer before me left in tears because this woman does not care what you tell her, she does her own thing and the best part is she charges you without delivering any services. She is full of excuses, too. after she charged me, she refused to do anything to my hair !!! her excuses are that she is tired and does not feel good. if that is the case, you do not need to have a business.
She is unprofessional and MAKES you tip her, WITHOUT providing a service. I was new to SD and was a victim of her unprofessionalism, lack of ethics and lack of ability to do the job she claims she can do.
I would stay away from this salon. She is not a color specialist. She is not a specialist at all. She is just really good at stealing your money with bogus excuses.
She is terrible and I must say I am in disbelief about her reviews. She ran my credit card without doing anything to my hair. Do not trust her.

Layla has been cutting my hair for years now. Every time after she cuts my hair I always get complements — even from my friends who see me all the time.
I have very straight hair which sticks up if it’s cut too short. Layla knows just how to cut it. She also recommends new styles so I know what the trends are in case I want to go that way.
I always leave the salon feeling great about how I look.

The first time Layla cut my hair I was astonished. She truly defined the difference between a professional job executed by a skillful master of the trade and an ordinary haircut from the haircut stores that I had always presumed was the norm for a guy. Unless it was an utter hack job, I always felt a bit refreshed from my typical haircut at Supercuts, but Layla’s haircuts are like being reborn! I feel weird even calling them haircuts because the experience is so much more. After I move to La Jolla from Beverly Hills, I was commuting back every time I needed a haircut. Ever since I was introduced to Layla by my best friend here in La Jolla, I never looked back. Layla is my girl… and will always be. I’ve been now getting my haircut from Layla for 10+ years.
What’s great about Layla is her ability to do a very consistent and stylish cut even when I’m super busy and don’t have time. She also is always very in tune to what’s hip and what’s passé. Also I love that if needed she can be mobile — and come to my home or office.
