Been seeing him almost monthly and he seems and acted very caring and concerned and listened to me tell him about my life and gave advice. Quickly yes but efficient. I called him when meds weren’t working and I felt worse and he called back and changed them. I’ve had no problems with him.

unfortunately I noticed that Dr. Moyer was not very considered by handing my friend two new Bipolar and anti anxiety meds and sending her off after a 15 min. office visit. No follow up calls, nothing. My friend just got hospitalized today after overdosing… she took the meds and fell into a deeper depression. I agree with the other review, that unless you are very stable, this doctor is not for you. He does not follow up and care how you do on new meds.
I am shocked and don’t recommend Dr. Moyer for patients with severe mental problems.

I’m surprised to see any negative reviews on Dr. Moyer. I have always had such a great experience with him. His bedside manner has always been great, very professional yet friendly. I feel at ease when I talk to him. He is incredibly knowledgeable about the different medications and prescribed me a medication to help me with anxiety during speeches and such which didn’t have the same addictive properties that benzodiazepines do. The medication absolutely worked, I couldn’t believe it. I was so calm and confident and the speech went better then any speech I’ve ever given. He really cares about his patients and will choose the best medication for the condition with the least amount of drawbacks. Take a look at the Zocdoc reviews. They are from verified patients only and rate him very highly (which is well deserved).

I’ve been this Dr.‘s patient for years. I like him as a person. I go to him for my meds, and that’s about it. He’s tweaked the meds a little bit and changed them a couple of times; we seem to work out good combos that last for a while. I’ve seen him over a dozen times.
Since I only see him for meds, we’re both happy not to discuss anything about my life peripheral to how my meds are working, and tweaking dosages of changing them. Essentially, he’s a very narrow kind of doctor — one who ensures that when you’re taking experimental pharmaceuticals, you’re checking in and not having the adverse side-​effects. It’s all been sanctioned, blessed, and christened by the System. No Reefer Madness here.
Taking care of your mental health requires four or more different doctors who don’t talk to each other. You have to be a project manager of your own mental health, if you’re sane enough, god bless ya’. There’s the primary care physical doctor, who takes care of matters relating to your physical body, your therapist (psychologist, analyst, drum circle, whatever) where you work things out, your psychiatrist (this guy) who doles out the controlled substances and notes the results for the pharma companies, and your priest/​shaman/​roshi/​rabbi/​imam/​mom who helps you keep your sense of purpose intact. Add acupuncturist, midwife, or whatever other healer you might need. You gotta work with all of ‘em if you have issues.
He’s always very distracted. Reliable, and it’s a hassle-​free system. I call him for refills and leave a message, he calls them in, the pharma calls me, bam bam bam no having do do stuff over and over again. He bills me, I pay online, easy as long as things are steady. If something doesn’t work, we try a new drug or a different dose. That’s it. No narratives.
In 2007, I met an older psychiatric doctor who told me he was the last of the dinosaurs — someone who prescribed medications AND counseled. They don’t do that anymore I guess. It’s called progress, in the land where everything is called the opposite of what it really is.
Bottom line: if you could be a danger to yourself or others, or feel out of control, he’s not your guy. He’s only for maintenance in my view, in which case he’s reliable and all around a good guy. But distracted. You have to sort of drive the show and tell him what you need and what’s going on.

Wow I did not look at Unilocal before seeing Dr. Moyer and I am very glad I didn’t because my experience was the opposite of what is described here.
Dr. Moyer was really kind, had a great bedside manner and created an environment where it was really easy to talk honestly. He listened to everything I had to say, gave me a solution and made sure I knew how to reach him in case I needed help before our next appointment. I was even a couple minutes late to the appointment but he saw me anyway.
I’ll gladly update as I continue to see Dr. Moyer. I would recommend him to anyone, friends and family. I really can’t understand some of the negative reviews here and would encourage those looking for a doctor to check out ZocDoc or meet him for yourself.

My son was 2 minutes late for his appointment, booked in at the front desk. I was with him. Twenty minutes later Dr. Moyer came out and told us he wouldn’t see him, he’d have to make another appointment because he was late — since appointments are only 15 minutes.
This guy is a pill pusher and should be investigated — fifteen minutes isn’t enough time to talk to a patient and evaluate responses to different medications — and he has the bedside manner of dirt. He was extremely condescending to both my son and me —
So my son didn’t get any medications from him, and was again turned off by the psychiatric community. And now he’s gone, from overdosing on prescription drugs he got on the street —–
Get this uncaring pill-​pushing quack off the street, and stop giving him your money

I’m unsure what the other reviews are about, I guess you can’t please everyone.
In my experience, Dr. Moyer has been great, I like his bedside manner, I feel like I can talk to him as a friend, which makes it easier. His diagnostic was spot on and he put me on a better medication than the one I was previously taken. I’ve struggled with anxiety for several years and the few times I’ve had a crisis he’s been able to treat me and make me feel better within a few days.
Another thing I like is that he is usually able to squeeze you in within a few days when you need it the most, instead of a few weeks like many other doctors.
From my perspective, he’s also been super responsive, not only with me but with his other patients, I’ve personally seen him following up on urgent matters between appointments.
I’d 100% recommend Dr. Moyer for anyone looking for psychiatric help. I’d also recommend anyone reading this to not get discouraged by the VERY FEW bad reviews here on Unilocal,he’s in ZocDoc (which is awesome because you can book apts online) and he maintains a 4.8 rating on over 150 reviews, those reviews are guaranteed to be from REAL patients, while Unilocal’s are not.

Either Dr. Moyer doesn’t know what he’s doing, or he doesn’t care. During my first visit with him he tossed out 2 possible diagnoses for what might be making me feel the way I was feeling. Near the end of the session he had me tell him which meds I was taking as he listed them on his laptop. He cut me off abruptly at the session’s end, rather than giving me a 5 minute warning. He closed his laptop. I explained to him that he had not allowed me to finish giving him my medication list; there was one more medication that I was taking. When I told him the name of the medication, he said it could be problematic for me; that it was not something he thought I should be taking. However, he could neither be troubled to reopen his laptop nor even to make a written note. Instead he asked me to remind him that I was on that particular medication during my next visit. Making this note in my chart was the least he could have done. Ideally he should have noted my current dosage and written me a prescription for a lower dose so he could begin tapering me off of the medication. I found his attitude incredibly irresponsible and uncaring. My second visit was one month later, and it was even worse. I mentioned to him the 2 possible diagnoses he suggested for me during my initial visit. He gave me a look of surprise and confusion and literally responded with: «Really? I said that?»
I would not put my health in his hands if I were you.

I am a patient of Dr Moyer and he’s helped me so much and changed my life around. He is very contactable and I strongly recommend him as a Doctor. He has all his licences to practice medicine and has stablized me on the perfect dose to where I actually feel normal again. Please disreguard any poor ratings because he is a great doctor.

HORRIBLE DOCTOR. He literally knows nothing about the Meds he prescribes and is impossible to reach. Billing staff is so separated that its difficult to even pay via insurance. Definitely stay away if you can he’s not worth the money. Friends of mine have accidentally gone to him from other recommendations from their doctors and found him to be just as useless. No bedside manner, honestly doesn’t care at all how you are feeling and why. Told me I shouldn’t feel any withdrawal symptoms coming off of Prozac. What a joke! Do not see him. If you do you will honestly regret it.
