UC San Diego Theatre & Dance

This is the best performing arts deal in town. The performances are in the same complex of theaters as used by La Jolla Playhouse. The sets tend to be minimalist, but superbly done. This IS professional theatre! The players are a mix of undergrads and MFA participants, most of whom have lengthy professional resumes.
We have subscribed for the last six years. A subscription of opening nights, six performances is $ 90! $ 60 for seniors! $ 20 for students!
Regular price general public single performance tickets are $ 20 each. The performances most often include: a Shakespeare, an 18^th or 19 century classic, a popular modern play, a very experimental performance, a dance performance (this is usually sold out in advance) and another modern or dance piece.
Last night we saw a wonderful performance of Moliere’s «The Misanthrope.» The cast was excellent, the sets and production spectacular, overall just top-​notch.
And there is a new restaurant/​lounge at the complex! We will try it next time and report back.
Do yourself a favor and check out a performance. We take friends all the time, and everyone has loved it.
