I met a friend here and we had a glass of wine, appetizer, and a dessert. It was very good. I would go back there definitely. Michele

Good location, happy hour could have better specials with a discount on craft beer. That would get me in here more often. Great service with friendly servers.

Super over this place changing their menu! Boo! No more thai mango salad, mahi mahi with fried rice, chicken noodle soup, and corn fritters. All things I order which is annoying! Clean up the nasty stuff on the menu not the delicious stuff. Rude

This review is only for the curbside pick up. Tried twice to order food and pick it up, but both times were a disappointment. Both times, the food was soggy, semi-cold, and tasted microwaved. We’ve always waited for at least 20 minutes once we’ve parked and called. Last time we went they missed half our order, but brought out the pizookie and ice cream 15 minutes before the rest came– so of course the pizookie was cold and the ice cream was melted. Overall just really disappointed, because I’ve never had a bad experience with BJ’s. I have eaten inside at this location, and it was fine, so maybe just avoid ordering from here for pick up!

I will never go back to BJ’s. This was the 3rd time I have eaten there. We were at the restaurant at 4:30 and the bar was way to noisy so we decided to sit outside. There was no one eating outside since it was a little cold. The waitress was very friendly and talkative. I ordered a side salad and a piece of salmon. The side salad was a joke. It took up ½ of a small plate, and veggies were minimal. I had to move some of the lettuce just to find the two small chopped tomatoes, and two tiny tiny pieces of cucumber. The food runner kindly brought me a bit more veggies. They should have been embarrassed to call it a side salad. After 4 or so bites the salad was finished(super small serving).

My boyfriend and I went in on President’s Day because I just wanted to have some of their pizza and my boyfriend has never been to a BJs restaurant! We got there and had about a 15 minute wait(not bad considering no reservation on a holiday night). The staff(from those that greeted us, seated us, waited, served and said good bye to us) we’re very friendly and helpful. It felt like we were seated in less than 15 minutes. Our server, Trey, was very nice and attentive throughout our meal(even though he was serving a big party and serval smaller parties around us). I ordered one of my favorites, The Great White, in a mini pizza and had their root beer(one of the only places I’ll order root beer really). My boyfriend ordered the country fried steak meal with an Ultimate Long Island iced tea(also a good choice and can hit me pretty quick!). We didn’t have to wait too long for our foodies to come out and our server was still good on trying to keep everyone’s drinks filled. The foodies was hot and tasted like foodies I was craving(translation=it was good lol). My boyfriend enjoyed his drinks and country fried steak(also took a nibble and liked how it was made). We also made enough room for some pizzookies! We ended up ordering the trio so we could try different flavors(the triple chocolate, cookies and cream and the salted caramel). All of which were awesome and satisfying to many people’s sweet tooth. Overall, even though this location got pretty busy, the service didn’t suffer and the foodies was good. I highly recommend a pizzookie whenever you do decide to drop in to BJs!

If I could rate this place 3.5 stars I would, but unfortunately Unilocal doesn’t allow that. We came here 11⁄10 kind of spontaneously, the parking wasn’t terrible. We got there and the host was very nice, we were seated immediately at a booth. 5 minutes later we were greeted by a nice server, we decided to order nachos. They’re no longer on the menu but they still make them, the chips were kind of burnt and the cheese was sparse but overall the nachos were decent. My boyfriend and I both ordered burgers, I wanted mine cooked Medium and he wanted Medium Rare, but when we got the burgers they were both well done. Kind of annoying but the burgers were still tasty so it was alright. The server was pretty attentive and the prices are decent for what you’re getting. Probably will be coming back here sometime in the future.

We ate in the bar on Christmas Eve. We called ahead to put our name in. We were greeted but then we opted for the bar upon arrival. Our server, a female with dark hair was attentive, polite, and personable. We had the okay calamari, served with ranch and a weak cocktail sauce. I might just be a sucker for spicy and flavor. A little tabasco helped. I had the Jeramiad Red, or what ever it’s called. I’m not sure what my friend had but he liked his. I was ready for bed after to JR’s and a personal dish pizza.(All on happy hour, while the game(Chargers vs. Raiders) was on. The Chargers messed up long enough for us to end our meal with a Pazookie.(My earlier self would not admit to eating this), but over all it was a great price for a fun atmosphere. Who knew I would enjoy frequenting a place called BJ’s? What’s that mean anyhow?

Lilly made our dinner so enjoyable. What a fantastic Waitress. Made sure our drinks were full and dirty plates cleaned away from our table in between courses. Food was delicious … Pasta, Pizza and Southern Fried Chicken. Chocolate Chunk Pizookie for desert. Definitely returning soon. Thanks so much. Merry Christmas C. Lovejoy Alpine, CA.

I used to be a regular customer of BJ’s, moreso while living in Los Angeles. Based on a few experiences at this location years ago, likely would have rated ~4 stars for price, food quality, customer service, and overall value. Unfortunately, this was a BJ’s experience unlike any other I’ve had. Arrived at ~8:10pm this last Monday night, and was promptly seated; It was not a busy Monday night. Drink orders went fine and delivered in reasonable time. Entrees were ordered by ~8:20pm. A little after 9pm, began to be concerned regarding where the food was, especially considered the restaurant was largely vacant. Food arrived a couple minutes after complaining. My friend and I had both ordered the Mahi Mahi taco plate, and substituted one of the two fish tacos with a shrimp taco. Seconds after my friend had bit into her fish taco, she exclaimed«this fish as BAD!» Having worked in a high-end seafood restaurant for years, I was unwilling to take her word and took a bite of my own fish taco. Yep, it was bad alright. RANCID, would be the correct term for this spoiled, not to mention cold, fish. This review would be a solid 1 star had it not been for BJ’s management offering to purchase a replacement meal. Because if was 9:20pm at this point, I declined and received a gift card for future use. Based on that I debated between giving 2 or 3 stars, but as Unilocal describes 2 as «Meh. I’ve experienced better» and 3 as «A-OK», feel that 2 is more appropriate.

Seated on a Friday evening with 6 guests within 10 minutes. Our very friendly server, Sarah, asked for and delivered drinks within 5 minutes. Ok, you have my attention. We were ready to order dinner when the drinks arrived. She cheerfully took our orders and then went around the table to make sure she got them right. Can you say«awesome»? I knew you could. Entrees were served within 15 minutes. Not bad since we didn’t order appetizers. My ribeye was spot on. Perfectly medium-rare and not too much un-trimmed fat. I knew I had to save some for Benji and the I remembered how much he loves steamed broccoli. I saved him a bunch of that… and some steak. Hey! I’m not heartless! We ordered pizookie for desert. YUM! All in all a wonderful experience. We’ll be back.

My fiancé and I went out on a date to celebrate Veterans Day at BJ’s Restaurant and we had a wonderful experience. Our server, Evelyn was amazing. Her service on top of the new burgers was great, her persona was inviting and sweet. She even gave my fiancé a free mini pizookie so she could try one cos my lady couldn’t decide on dessert. Evelyn was happy to give that and my entrée for free since I myself am a veteran. Our wonderful server, the food and surprise dessert on the house made our night. I would recommend this BJ’s restaurant to my family and friends.

Today was a treat coming to BJ’s. I haven’t been here in a few years so I was excited to try it again. The restaurant was clean and decorated nicely. We were greeted when we entered but had to wait a minute or so before anyone came to seat us. Once seated the waitress(she didn’t give us her name) was quick to take our drink order. I tried the«Skinny Margarita» and my husband ordered BJ’s Brewhouse Blonde beer. The margarita was a little on the sweet side but still very good. My husband enjoyed his beer. The menu has a variety of options: various pizza dishes, sandwiches, salads and I noticed a breakfast menu, desserts and more. I chose the Tavern Cut Italian Market Pizza and my husband ordered the Gourmet Five Meat Pizza. My pizza was so good it had a thin crushed Italian herb, five cheese blend crust and it was loaded with the house made meatballs, diced pepperoni, ham and peperoncinis. I didn’t sample my husband’s pizza but it looked amazing and it was loaded with the house made meatballs, pepperoni, oven roasted ham, smoked bacon, Italian sausage and Parmesan cheese. Sad to say that our waitress performance was a three star: it was lunch time and the restaurant was busy but our services could have been better. We had asked her for the pepper and parmesan cheese shakers and she never brought them to us(we finally asked another waitress who passed our table). She also took her own sweet time to bring my husband a «to go» box for his pizza. The food and atmosphere was great but the service was poor.

Bj’s is a great casual hangout spot with a great selection of decent food and popular beers. Whenever we have social gatherings, BJ’s is often mentioned as a potential choice because of its casual atmosphere, affordable priced food, and nice selection of beers. I went to Bj’s this past week for a social gathering with co-workers. This particular BJ’s in La Mesa is at the Grossmont shopping center so the parking lot is huge. Unfortunately, there are so many stores and shops in the shopping center that there is barely enough parking for everyone so parking is hard to find especially during lunch or dinner hours. I had a reservation so I was seated quickly. The menu is big with many options and with calories info listed as well. There are enlightened entrees with low calories so this is a good choice for people counting calories. Unfortunately these entrees are not big in quantity and they lack taste as well. On this particular day, I had a tomato bisque in a bread bowl. The bread bowl costs 2.50 extra but it is so worth it to dip the bread inside the tomato bisque. Don’t skimp on the bread bowl folks. I also had a seasonal beer, the pumpkin ale float. This particular beer included a scoop of ice cream floating in it. The beer tasted pretty light and was enjoyable. People who don’t like bitterness in their beer or enjoy light colored beers will enjoy this drink. The ice cream float on top meshed well with the drink. Service here is always good to great. Wait times for food are acceptable but can be horrible at lunch times. 4 stars for BJs!

At first I loved BJ’s for their pizookies! However, it’s become a very fond tradition for my siblings and I. This is the one place that we always agree on whenever we crave sweets in the La Mesa area. We typically get the white chocolate macadamia nut cookie, and the three of us can actually share one order. I know, that sounds blasphemous considering how DELICIOUS they are… but we’re trying to lose 5 pounds… See what I did there? :) #MeanGirls My little brother and sister share a love for their new burgers. The extra dose of guacamole won them over. Personally, I’ve grown to really love the wings here. They are crunchy to the right amount, and I love the seasoning here. They have new flavors for the dry wings, and they ALL tastes great. Everyone needs to check ‘em out! I docked one star because the service at this restaurant is never consistent. We’ve had some of the crappiest waiters, and some of the best as well. I typically let it slide because one offsets the other. Regardless, I enjoy this place, so I’ll be coming back often with my favorites! FYI: Between the 3 of us, the check usually comes out to $ 45-$ 60 total!

Jessica is a great server! Really nice and funny, she knew a ton about the menu. Food was fab-U-lous per usual. Can’t go wrong with a pizookie and a brew. Was slightly off-put by Renaissance styled baby paintings across from my seat, but otherwise an excellent experience. (Not to be a total narc but hostess was openly on cell phone)

Tonight was one of the best evening meals I’ve had in a while! We ordered from the appetizer side of the menu to keep it on the light side. We shared the Flatbread California Pizza(8pcs of deliciousness). It comes with diced chicken, chunks of real bacon, fresh diced avocado and tomatoes on a thin crispy flat bread crust. The 4 sliders with fries was the perfect sharing size. In fact, 3 were eaten and the fourth went home for a midnight snack. An order of the 10 piece Root beer glazed chicken wings were just the right amount of spicy but I personally couldn’t taste any root beer flavoring. Topped the meal off with a chocolate chip chunk Pizookie(baked in a tin, is a chocolate chip cookie with vanilla bean ice cream ala mode).

I’ve been to a couple different locations and they never seem to disappoint. This last time I ordered the Brussels Sprouts appetizer and the Ahi salad and both were delicious. I would highly recommend them. I would not go here on a lunch break if you only have an hour though. They tend to take a while and seem to be pretty busy with the lunch rush.

It was my first time coming to BJ’s with my boyfriend by ourselves as to always coming here with a group on numerous occasions. Anyways, sat in the bar area and ordered the sriracha roasted brussel sprouts as an appetizer to share and it was pretty tasty. For my entrée I ordered the gluten free crust which I added ham & pineapple as the toppings for $ 1 each. It was my first time trying out gluten free crust and I was happy that it tasted pretty good! It reminded me of a thin crust because it was crunchy and overall was a decent pizza. My boyfriend got a burger which he devoured and washed it down with a cold beer.

I used to go here a few years ago when I first moved to SD and was in La Mesa for a few months before moving to OB. I loved their Parmesan Chicken back then and I had to make sure they still had it before I walked in. I had a dr’s appt in the area and knew I was going to come in here for lunch while out this way. The server said it’s still their most popular dish and customers would revolt if they ever took it off the menu! Two nice size pieces of deboned chicken breast, lightly breaded, seasoned very well with shaved Parmesan and a wonderful lemony buttery sauce on it. Still delish. I am a saucy girl, so I asked for a little extra sauce on the side to dip my broccoli and mashed potatoes in. Broccoli cooked perfectly and comes pretty plain, so the sauce was a good dipper. Their potatoes though… so dense and not a lot of flavor. I do remember them like this and I wonder why they can’t make a lighter version, would be SO much more appealing. I think next time I might just ask for fries or a baked potato if they have it. Lost a star for that. Service was spot on, but I went at a very late lunch hour, so they weren’t busy at all. It’s gone up a couple of bucks since I’ve been there, but at least they didn’t change the recipe!
