Some of the best Mexican Food in San Diego. I love coming here since I was young with my family even when they where in Old Town. Thanks for the memories Case De Pico

Heard good things so went with family to see if it lived up to the rep. Hmmm no. Clearly a crowd favorite as it was packed even early. Noisy and crowded. Great servers. Good drinks. Food was good but not great. Sad the location in Old Town closed. The vibe there would have added to the experience.

Every time I come here I swear it gets better! Food is always served fresh and fast. Their drinks(both virgin and alcoholic) are delicious. Not to mention the look and feel of the place is very welcoming and vibrant. We actually just went and ate there last night. Our server Jesus was so helpful that I felt inclined to write a review.(Ps. Sorry for taking your pen). If you haven’t already tried this place, you should!

Good place to come and have a great family time, Mariachi band is on point and very friendly. Service was good, food was serve right away. Sad thing I ordered a $ 20.00 plate and it was cold, carne asada was very dry and seems like my food had been sitting for a while. :(

Every time I come back to San Diego, I call up my oldest friend and we take our wives to la Casa. The food is really great and prices are reasonable. I tend to not repeat dishes so I don’t have any favorites but everything I have had I loved. My wife always praises their place and looks forward to our visit. Some times we have visited, they have a mariachi band… we enjoy it when it is in the ‘other’ room. Wish they had an outlet in Colorado.

The food and service were pretty good. The outside patio is beautiful at night, such a great vibe. The reason I only give it a 4 star is because the people sitting next to my wife and I continued to give out racist slurs. Overall a great place.

Food is very good and service is very good. The chips and salsa are delicious(ask for re-fills). They usually never have a wait(when I have been). I would recommend the ceviche appetizer and mango margarita. The fajitas are good, shrimp tacos, burritos, and enchiladas! You can’t go wrong at Casa De Pico. The only reason I do not give them 5 stars is I believe their food is a bit pricey for Mexican food that is very inexpensive to make!

It’s not what it used to be. Service was absolutely horrible. Don’t waste your time and money. Go elsewhere.

Went here with family awhile back. The wait was very short and our waiter happily showed us to our table while the mariachis hovered above us like vultures ready to play a tune for the customers. Living in SoCal comes with many many many Mexican food restaurants as well, and this place although it didn’t stand out too much, the food wasn’t bad. The waiter would constantly refill our water, and chips/salsa. I got a chile relleno which was meh. There were seeds inside and it wasn’t worth the price. If you want to go to an OK Mexican restaurant I’d recommend you go more towards old town because it’s around the same price and the(gringo approved) food is much much better

I feel like the ambiance is lovely here, if it’s warm outside opt to sit on the side patio or in the front tables. The drinks seen a bit watered down for my taste, and a bit pricey. The food portions were kinda small for the price(you’re not in Old Town anymore… Get rid of the«Old Town Prices»!!!) The chips and salsa was flowing, and the food tasted good… Just a bit of a wait(for seating and for the waitress to get and refill drinks and«Quality Checks» never happened the 3 times I was a guest there!) Foods Good, Service is Blah, But a Bit Pricey for What You’re Getting!!!

Had the best service ever tonight by Jackie! I have lived over in the La Mesa area for years and have been coming to Casa de Pico since it was built. This was my favorite dining experience thus far. Jackie was very knowledgeable about the menu, specials, and substitutions available. She was so fast with our food and any random requests we had she returned within a few minutes with a smile. I loved that she gave us enough time to browse, but also was attentive to our needs. I will be coming back for her service. The food was especially great tonight, she suggested a margarita and the tacos deal mar. Perfect portions and delicious as well. Thanks Jackie!

Horrible service, drinks are watered down. I had to ask multiple waiters to give us our check. And even then when they came with check it was incorrect. I heard nothing but good things about this place but i would not come back. BJ’s next door is at least consistant…

Unless you’re looking for a solid sit down place, skip the 45 min wait at dinner time and enjoy happy hour in the patio around the bar! Happy hour comes with complimentary snacks, including nachos and mini bean & cheese burritos. Service is a bit slow out in the patio, if you’re not in a rush, it’s great! If you do decide to wait, there’s a woman handmaking tortillas in one of the patios, and it’s great to watch and awe over watching your tortillas made in front of you. Portions are generous, especially in the bean & rice departments. The food in general is fine, unfortunately it does depend on what you order. Shrimp tacos. or any tacos… are recommended — get sauce on the side! The guacamole is good, not overly salty. All in all, it’s a lively place with lots of food, which is always appreciated!

Pleasantly surprised by the good food and ambience. Warm outdoor patio and fast customer service, surrounded by live mariachi. The carne asada was thicker, juicy and cooked medium rare… not your average taco. Would definitely come back.

How have I never reviewed this place? We come here all the time! So they note what is gluten free on the menu but the chips are NOTGF, you have to order the GF ones. because the chips are friend in the fryer that is not dedicated. love the birdbath margs Husband loves the cheese enchiladas I get the salad for the most part, But also get tacos, stuffed pepper. But the bird bath margaritas are so damn good. We come by at least once a month.

I loved almost everything about my experience here! The décor is very festive and was decorated for Christmas, Mexico style. I ordered the Crispy shrimp tacos and they were amazing. Two tacos stuffed with 5 jumbo shrimp! Very tasty! The chips were fresh and warm and the salsa was just the right kind of spicy. I drank the Cabo Wabo margarita and it was very refreshing. I would have rated the experience a 5, except our server was awful. He was impatient when we asked questions, gave ambiguous answers, and was very condescending. Not sure why he’s working in the service industry as he clearly seems to not like people.

I tried this place for the first time because my boyfriend suggested we go for a dinner date here. This place is a lot bigger than it looks seeing it from the outside. It’s very homey and comforting walking in here. I went to use their restrooms and felt as if I walked into someone’s personal bathroom. They had what seemed like vanilla candles going and the restroom was very clean and organized. The wait staff and hostesses are very friendly. Our waiter was very nice and came when we needed him. He filled our drinks and brought our food fairly quick. The food was so-so. My boyfriend isn’t a big fan of wet burritos and didn’t enjoy the gravy on top of the burrito he ordered. His mistake, but the food was average for him. He didn’t touch his sides, but did enjoy the chips we were given before our meal. I ordered chicken tacos with avocados and I enjoyed the huge fresh portions of avocados they put in my tacos. I will admit that one of my tacos seemed to have a bit more avocado than chicken, but not complaining because I’m a big fan of avocados! I would give this place another try and order something new next time!

Looking at this place from outside, it looks like a sad establishment that is probably going out of business soon. But when you step inside, you realize that HOLYCRAPIT’S A PARTY – err, FIESTAINHERE! This place is lively! Mariachi band all over the place. Roughly fourteen million tables. Several different«areas» to sit in. Given how busy it was, I was rather surprised at the fast service, the attention we received(for example, refills on drinks, and more fresh chips and salsa delivered immediately when we ran out), the fact that we got seated immediately, and how quickly the food came out. The food itself was quite good. No, nothing was mind-blowingly amazing nor delightfully new. They’re just tried-and-tested items and flavors that just plain work. If I lived closer, I’d definitely make it a regular spot.

If you’re looking for a really good Mexican food and are skeptical about a nice dining restaurant this place is very welcoming lots of space and the food is delicious. I’ve been here a few times with family out of town and they really enjoyed it. The salmon and mango salad is very very good and a healthy choice. If you’re looking for authentic Mexican food like a carne asada burrito it is also very very good and tasty that is usually what I order if I’m going here. They also have a walk up bar on the inside and they have different variety of alcohol from mixed drinks cocktails and beer. They have a nice kids menu as well with five or 6 choices so the place is suitable for kids as well. The service and speed of service is way ahead of the game each time I’ve been here my order was taken within a couple of minutes and the food has been ready within 10 minutes 15 minutes max so overall if you’re hungry and looking for food to be served quickly had a great restaurant this is it.

Went here for dinner on a Sunday evening. The place was busy, but with a large indoor/outdoor dining area and bar, we were able to be seated right away. The place is very festive, energetic, and colorful… The few times we’ve been here have always been during dinner time, and there was always live music traveling around the dining area. Our server didn’t say much, but he had a very friendly demeanor and service was attentive. Our drinks were kept filled and our food was brought out quick. Keep in mind that with the drought, they won’t serve water unless you specifically ask for water. They give you tortilla chips, thick cut and warm with their salsa to start… Husband ordered their guacamole which was simple, but with a nice flavor focused on the avocado… Kids quesadilla with fresh fruit is pretty standard, no need for further explanation. Husband ordered their carne asada burrito. I had a bite, and it was pretty good!.. Great marinaded juicy flavor. My only comment, is the beef were bigger diced pieces and sometimes was a bit chewy. But again, awesome flavor. I had their tostada sabrosa. A huge tostada with lots of lettuce, corn, chicken, etc mixed together with a creamy cilantro dressing(I ordered without black beans). It was so super creamy and rich, but still had a cool taste from the cilantro. As much as I enjoyed the dressing, it did seem a bit overpowering after a while though. And it’s definitely a huge portion. Their large dining area accommodates large parties. I think it’s a pretty decent place worth checking out. Parking can suck though! Mall parking lot shared with a ton of restaurants and large chain stores like Costco, target, Walmart, etc…

I’ve been here a few times. I prefer to come when it’s not too busy, and my last visit was for a late lunch. We were greeted with a smile and after a brief 5 minutes wait, we were taken to a comfortable booth by the window as requested. Immediately, we were brought fresh crispy chips. They are made just the way I like them, not too salty and not greasy. I ordered the carnitas. They were delicious, lean and tender that you could cut with a fork. It came with fresh flour tortillas that they make there! It came with all the toppings; sour cream, guacamole, fresh onions, fresh cilantro, and pico de gallo. It also came with refried beans that were tasty and covered with cheese and rice. The rice was a bit dry and bland. However, I would definitely get this entrée again. We also ordered the fried shrimp tacos plate. They were so good, I would get again. The tacos are huge with jumbo shrimp that have been deep fried in a light batter. It has a jalapeño cream sauce and chopped cabbage. My mouth is watering thinking about them, yes, they are that good. This entrée also came with rice and black beans. We shared our entrees and had so much left over because the portions are huge. We ate the left overs for dinner!!! The salsa is made fresh and yummy and has just the right amount of heat for me. The place is clean, and the service was quick. I will be back.
