Sure did drive from HB where Bolsa Chica turns into VV, crossing multiple cities(Westminster, GG, Cypress, BP) just to get my hands on the red velvet waffles and raspberry crunchy French toast! They were well worth it too, yummy and unique! Couldn’t get those anywhere around my area. Also tried the Texas scramble which was ok. The crunchy French toasts stole the show! The place is small, crowded and noisy which is why we opted to take it to go, and you better believe I was munchin on the road back! When I realized Green Chile was just a few streets over, had to stop there to get the best green verde pork fries to go too! Couldn’t wait to get home and attack this feast! Yum!!!

Tried it out finally, It was very yummy, it was packed which is always a good sign, and we didn’t have to wait for our food long at all– also good. The only reason it didnt get the 5th star is because I had to take my daughter to the restroom and it was not what I think a restroom should be in a place you are eating… I understand it’s a small space and all but it didn’t smell clean and it just wasn’t what I wanted to encounter before I ate. Other than that everything was great… I will go here again, and recommend it, hopefully they are doing well enough they can move to a bigger space and provide a nicer restroom for customers.

I finally decided to walk into Amy’s café, I had been eyeing the place for a while. As I walked in I was greeted by two ladies… My son and I sat in the corner. I ordered the country fried steak and eggs. Wow that was yummy. My son ordered the pancake… He said he was not to happy with the menu selection for kids lol. Overall good was good and so was service. I will be coming back soon. I need to try their French toast.

One of my FAVORITE breakfast places EVER! My favorite item in the menu is the Truck Stop, however they often have off menu specials that are AMAZING! I got some pastrami fries for breakfast that were awesome beyond words!

I am always on Unilocal trying to find new places to eat at especially for Brunch. This place is definitely at the top of my list. I had amazing customer service and everyone that works there is super friendly. I ordered the waffles with strawberries plate and it was simply amazing! My mom had got the biscuits and gravy and they were really good. I definitely will be coming back here! I’m glad to have found out about this place. I also heard about the red velvet waffles after I had reviewed my food, next time I will be trying that!

Amy’s Café is located in a small town inside the Los Angeles County area of La Mirada and it should be known as a good old family breakfast spot. This isn’t a fancy place with just regular tables and chairs laid out in this small restaurant. It feels like a home, a very loving and caring place with a wall full of old photos of people that might still be alive and maybe that might have passed. But they all look like their having fun and if you do get to try Amy’s one day you will also have fun. The waitresses are nice and they do crack jokes here and there which to me makes it feel like a great family environment and also the people that come here, they seem like they go here quite often and know what they want. A really nice guy had ordered the same thing that I did when I went here the other day and he just had some small talk with us which was nice. I don’t get that kind of stuff so often let alone in a big city you might never have that happen. This is why I do enjoy eating here, I have taken my friends, family and even relatives that were from Australia to this spot and you know what, they all loved it. The menu has many options to choose from. If you want a pretty heavy meal to start your day right yep they got that. If you want something on the healthy side don’t worry they also served lunch and different sandwiches. Don’t be too scared if you can’t finish the portion, it’s pretty good for another meal say dinner. This place is only open in the morning and afternoon and they are closed on Tuesdays. It’s small and you might have to wait for a table sometimes but really it is worth it because you can feel that they did put so much effort and heart into the presentation of the food ! I truly love this local business in the nice city of La Mirada and I hope they stay for a long time so I can bring even more of the people I know here.

Over the past year or so we have visiting many different breakfast joints on our Sunday morning excursions and Amy’s is definitely near the top of my list. The café itself is very homie and quaint with a fairly good setup of tables that really makes the most of the space they have. Everytime we have been here we have had the same server and the service has always been great and they have never messed up any of our meals. They offer a fairly expansive breakfast menu consisting of everything from your basic egg breakfast, omelettes and scrambles to specialties such as their Gran Torino Burrito, Krunchy French Toast and the Red Velvet Waffle. Over the span of our visits I have sampled several items off the menu from the Salt Lake City Scramble(eggs, spicy hot links, onion, bell pepper and topped with either melty cheese or gravy), The Bacon Breakfast Quesadilla(this thing is huge) and the ever popular Krunchy French Toast in both regular and strawberry(they never seem to have the blueberry on Sundays so not sure if this is seasonal or no longer offered). I will definitely be checking out the Gran Torino on one of my next visits and it truly looks massive. The Krunchy French Toast is definitely one of the best I have had and a combo(4 slices) with eggs and bacon or sausage is only around $ 8.50. The pricing here is definitely on point and we eat here cheaper than a lot of other places and our bellies never leave disappointed. Amy’s definitely has the home cooking of their menu down to a science as the consistency in the dishes never wavers and is always great throughout. I am definitely a fan of this place and will return many more times in the future as this has become a regular rotation place for our weekly breakfast stops. If you want some good old fashioned home cooked food, great service and a charming and inviting atmosphere then this is a place you should check out.

Been going here for a while now and always liked the food but the last 2 times something has changed. Not sure if they have new cooks or what but the last 2 times the food was soggy and full of grease. Had to send it back and the last time I just left. The service was never very good but the I liked the food enough to keep going back but after the last 2 times I have gone there, between the soggy unedible food and the bad service, I will not be going back again. Also they no longer accept credit/debit cards. It is now cash only and they won’t let you know until it’s time to pay the bill. Only sign they have posted is a small stick-em note on the cash register that your unlikely to see until it’s time to pay

Cool spot for breakfast! My friend lives in the OC so we always try to find cool breakfast spots in between us. So thanks to Unilocal,we can to discover little hole in the wall type places located in shopping centers that serve great breakfast! This place was pretty busy but we only waited about 10 – 15 minutes for a table. The waitress was super nice and our food came out pretty quickly. I ordered the«healthy» breakfast wrap that had chicken, avocado, eggs and a few other veggies. It was probably the healthiest thing on the menu, came with cottage cheese or fruit. My friend got the chicken fried steak with a side of the biscuits. Overall great food and casual environment.

First time here On the menu: Crunchy french toast(crunchy goodness) Scrambled eggs n sausage The Spoiler –3 eggs, sausage instead of ham, bell peppers, no onions, n cheese(excellent) So after a little debacle(hair on my french toast), they made a brand new plate. We’d still come back because of the excellent attentive service. Although, a waitress may have a bit much perfume so if you don’t mind that, it’s definitely a good hidden gem.

Drove here from Whittier since it was highly rated and it came up on my Unilocal under healthy. After a 20min drive, walked in and its like we stepped into a truck stop diner in the middle of nowhere. It has that feeling, plus they even have an item on the menu called truck stop. Came with a classmate and we immediately felt out of place. However service was good and the waitress was friendly. After viewing the menu, it took a while for us to order due to the various pages of a typical diner. We ended up getting the meatlovers omelette and the waco which is a mixture of sausage, eggs, potatoes, and other items. However I did notice there was this weird crunch and the potatoes were all cut unevenly thus uneven cooking. Both of our meals had an overwhelming taste of butter and it was obvious they use butter in everything. I believe this place is highly rated due to the unhealthy choices like chorizo egg waffle(which sounds amazing-dont get me wrong) along with French toast, pancakes, milkshakes, etc. Also they have this store special apple butter, I had to try it. Was a little disappointed, I definitely had better and it was easy to describe this taste. Like old apple pie in a scoop, overwhelming taste of cinnamon. After I requested it, I noticed there were other jams and jelly– I had to try them. Apricot, strawberry, and orange marmalade. The apricot is a must. Although the English muffin I had on the side was covered with butter, it complimented the jelly and was quite delicious. Tip: mix the apricot and the strawberry together. For what this place is and the location, I didn’t expect much and I still enjoyed my time here. Our meal was under $ 20 and we still had a good time regardless of our first impression.

The food here might not be gourmet, but it is the best comfort food place around. Very cute hidden mom and pop restaurant. Actually, the owner is a younger woman but who cares. The place is awesome! The staff is super friendly and will work with you to get what you want, granted they have it there. There’s homemade apple butter on every table. Your coffee cup is never empty. And the staff remembers you when you come back for more! They have a chorizo waffle made without any flour!!! How the heck?! It’s pretty good. I think the concept is cooler though. But I’m absolutely happy that they have a gluten-free option on the menu. My absolute favorite thing on their menu, the red velvet waffle topped with cream cheese icing! It’s cooked perfectly, with crunchy edges, and a moist center. It tastes like you’re having red velvet cake cooked to perfection for breakfast. It’s a definite must try! My mom got the Ortega chili burger. That was really good too. All the flavors meshed together and make this delicious combo that make your mouth water. This is a great option to try if you want a lunch option. If you’re in the area, this is a good place to try out.

Not a huge breakfast joint and I would not recommend it for big groups(more than 4 people). They really only have room for 1 big table. That aside, good breakfast joint. The portions here are MASSIVE, and you do pay a bit more for that, it seems. Food is delicious, and service was pretty good. I ordered a simple ham and egg(2), with a side of their famous fried mashed potatoes with cheese,(available on weekends only), and biscuit and gravy. The slice of ham was ginormous, eggs cooked perfectly(over-easy), and the friend mashed potatoes was something I’ve never had before. I loved the mashed potatoes– it was delicious and quite unique. They also won me over with their fluffy, moist biscuit. The gravy was literally just«dressing on top». Yummmmy! Service was pretty good as well. They checked in often, and came by to fill the waters and coffee VERY often. The coffee was actually not too shabby either for a breakfast joint. My friends and I did have left overs, but because we are traveling, it didn’t make sense for us to take the left overs since it would sit in the car and go to waste, so we opted not to take it. The server seemed so offended by that, and made at least 3 comments while getting us a check and while we were sitting there about us not taking the left overs, and making us feel bad about wasting the food. Sorry, but it really didn’t make sense for us to take it. Other than the comments from the server, good breakfast stop for a huge, filling breakfast.

This is a great little gem in La Mirada! I met up with friends here recently. My friends are locals and have been here before. I probably would have never visited this café on my own. It’s a small café located in a small shopping center, it doesn’t stand out from the outside. On the inside, everything is pretty simple and no frills. The menu was really great, it had some pretty good dishes. My only issue was that they didn’t seem to have a lot of vegetarian or meatless options for breakfast. I resolved that quickly by getting the Healthy Wrap minus the chicken. It was really tasty and definitely a decent sized portion. My friends and I shared a french toast dish. I didn’t get the name of it but it had strawberry cream on it. I had one slice and it was delectable. The dish was enough for two people to share. The atmosphere is really casual, it was obvious that it was a local favorite. The waitress was sweet, on the ball, and attentive. She reminded me of a character from that TV show«Mel’s Diner». All she needed was a pink uniform and apron! I was really satisfied with her prompt and attentive service. Coffee was decent, definitely a great little café to visit if you’re in the area or a local! I’ll definitely come back here again or recommend it to friends!

Wow, what a good breakfast spot. It’s a small restaurant, tucked in a nondescript strip mall. As I walked in, I was greater by an old school waitress. I’ll just say she’s a character and she’ll give you s#%# if you’re taking too long to decide what you want to order, hahaha.(She’s cool) It’s my first time here so I asked her what’s good and without hesitation, she said Country Fried Steak, sold. It came with 2 eggs, hash browns and I chose biscuit & gravy instead of toast. The country fried steak was on the small side(compare to what I usually get) but what it lacked in size, the flavor made up for it and more. The gravy was thick and tasty. The hash brown was perfectly cooked. Super crispy, yum! The biscuit & gravy was just so so. The biscuit was on the dry side and the gravy(same as the gravy for the chicken fried steak) got monotonous after awhile. Spinach, Mushroom & Cheese Omelette — Delicious. I got extra credits from the wifey for picking this for her. Hahaha. All the ingredients worked well together. It was a very good omelette, I highly recommend it. Red Velvet Waffle — OMG, DELICIOUS! Never had it before so I had to try it. And boy was I glad I did. It came with butter, cream cheese and syrup. It’s like a crunchy cake. Yum. Go get this one. Tip: there is a .50 charge for using a Credit or Debit card. Not a $ 50 minimum charge to use a credit card as one of the tip posted by another Unilocaler. Price was reasonable. The size of the entrées were smaller, but it made up for it with great flavor. A very good breakfast spot 2015 Review #60

Oh yes, I am a fan. Get the Krunchy French Toast. Hell, get a few things. I would recommend doing them on several visits though. We came here about a month or so ago and I had my heart set on this Krunchy French Toast. Why did they call it Krunchy anyways? It turns out that I noticed it was made with some kind of batter with Corn Flakes. Okay, turns out I was wrong. I heard her explain on our second visit to someone that it was Frosted Flakes. Close enough. I forgot what else was in it. Whatever it is, it works. It’s delicious. Not only that, but if you don’t want the standard Krunchy French Toast, you can get flavored ones. Both visits I saw strawberry, raspberry, and chocolate. I don’t know where blueberry went, but people have had this. I just never see it on the board when we go. For my first visit I got the raspberry Krunchy French Toast. Oh yes, she did also say it was stuffed with cream cheese. I went to another place that had cream cheese stuffed french toast and that one was overbearing. I did not notice it with Amy’s at all. I thought it was yogurt. Maybe it’s both. Hell, don’t even listen to me at this point because I don’t know what I am talking about. I can tell you however, that it’s delicious! Look at the pictures to get an idea of what it is. My husband went the standard Krunchy French Toast. You can also get the regular kind of french toast if you prefer. He got it as a combo which came with bacon and eggs. He loved it. We were fans! We came back recently, and although I went with the intentions of getting more of this mysterious french toast, I took another route. I will have it again soon. I wanted to try more options. I went with the waffle combo and chose blueberry. Here I thought it was going to be cooked with blueberries inside, but here they put a heaping amount of homemade blueberry jam and whipped cream around the jam. They also have strawberry or apple. I got it with bacon and eggs. The waffle was cooked to perfection, and there was nothing to be considered as «chinsy» when it came to toppings. My husband went with the breakfast quesadilla, stating that he wanted something small this time. Right? Wrong! The thing was monstrous. It would be enough for two people! Stuffed! They also have all kinds of items. I would recommend checking them out. Some sound pretty southern and there are all sorts of different choices which makes this place stand out. The place itself is tiny so come early or be prepared to wait. We almost had to when we came at eight in the morning. They also like to label stuff with«K“‘s instead of «C“‘s, and most of their stuff seems to be homemade. They even have apple butter upon request, and it looks like seasonally they offer pumpkin butter or cinnamon apple butter. I love it!

I rounded up for this review, because I think the cook was just having an off day when I went. The food is pretty good, but the execution didn’t seem up to par. We ordered a few items and shared. 4 Krunchy French Toast Combo: It’s really yummy and unique. However, half my French toast order was burnt and my over medium eggs first came out way undercooked. I sent them back and the new ones came back with several pieces of shell. 3 Red Velvet Waffle: It was a special and came with cream cheese topping. It was tasty 3 Biscuit & Gravy: The gravy was good, but the biscuit was a little dough-y. 5 Homemade Apricot Jam & Apple Butter: The best, put them on everything! Service is very nice and attentive. The restaurant is only open for breakfast and lunch(7am-2pm). There’s plenty of parking in the strip mall lot they’re located in.
