Encore School of Music

The staff at Encore are absolutely AMAZING. They truly care about their students and work with them individually and customize their lessons, taking the time to make sure that students are grasping the fundamentals behind their instruments. Showcases are held about 2 – 3 times a year, and have been at Biola’s Crowell Hall for the past 2. I used to work there for 3.5 years as the manager, so I know what these teachers go through (especially during showcase seasons). Charts are CREATED for each song, and the amount of effort that goes into planning out the logistics is no joke.
Instruments taught: Voice, Guitar (Bass, Electric, Ukulele, Classical), Piano, Brass, and Woodwinds. (No drums, unfortunately)
The front staff works their butt off to make sure that scheduling works out in the best interest of both the student and instructors. There are a wide range of time slots and instructors to choose from, all of which come from university training, and most if not all are professional musicians who practice their craft when they aren’t joyfully teaching.
If I’m being honest, my brother took drum lessons at another music school near my house in Cypress and their scheduling, their lessons, everything was messy and frustrating. The only reason my parents sent him there was because Encore didn’t teach drums and that was all he wanted to learn (despite my efforts to convince him to learn guitar or piano). Encore makes sure that they do everything possible to avoid last minute cancellations, by providing substitutes or alternate lesson schedules. There’s a weird stigma about substitutes in the teaching community, but from my experience the subs are able to provide a fresh and new perspective in the advancement of student’s musical lessons. Another great thing about subs is that they are able to provide different techniques and styles without undoing all of the stuff the original instructor built in place.
Even though I no longer work there, I hope anyone and everyone in the area check out Encore for their music lesson needs. They offer one free trial lesson for anyone interested so it really doesn’t hurt to check them out!

top notch instructors, and a school who really cares about the students, not just their bottom line. i’ve yet to see a music program that was so invested in the students. they do a good job really trying to showcase the students’ talents, not just try to teach them a few songs. they try and utilize the children’s interests and actually teach them songs they want to learn. highly recommend it!

An amazing place to learn how to play your favorite instruments. The staff is so nice and friendly! I take guitar lessons and vocal lessons there, and the teachers are amazing. I recommend this place to any musician seeking lessons, beginner or advanced.

I took guitar lessons from Richard at Encore. The entire team there is knowledgeable and very nice.
The staff there makes the music exciting for the students. The showcases are great. They have a wide variety of instruments and music to teach to people of all ages.

My daughters have been taking lessons from Encore and they love it. One of my daughters takes voice and piano lessons from Joanna. My other daughter takes guitar lessons from Brad. Both teachers are amazing! They both know how to bring out the best from their students. The school’s showcase is something we always look forward to. It gives the students the opportunity to perform in front of an audience and it helps boost their confidence in performing. My children had attended other music schools before but Encore is the best! The staff and teachers are very friendly and professional.

I’d like to take a second and speak into the character of the teachers and the staff that run Encore. The staff functions from a place of high integrity and strong moral values. I’ve always been impressed with the way they execute the small things. I’ve personally taken lessons from them for YEARS and they really have just gone above and beyond in every way possible. My daughter has been a student at Encore for over eight years. During this time she has grown tremendously. We are grateful to Joan for her patience and encouragement.

I used to teach at Encore and can honestly say they really do have some incredible teachers. Not only are they masters of their craft, they have a teacher’s heart and can help direct any student no matter how far they want to go with music. I was lucky to have been part of such a talented staff.

Incredibly professional staff, and even more importantly passionate teachers of music and performance. They have top notch facilities and great equipment as well to boot! But my favorite part by far is the talent showcase, where these kids are able to work up to something, and that something is a live performance with full professional musicians backing them up. You can’t get this kind of experience at many other places. Seeing their faces light up and the fruits of their hard work they put in for months under the guidance of Encore staff… it’s beyond words.

Well run school with great staff, all with professional training and experience. They put a great deal of effort into performances, and have a strong relationship with the city of La Mirada, and have performed in the city’s theatre, city hall, and Christmas events. No expense is spared for the performances, hiring all professional musicians to back up your kid. Best school whether on the casual or ambitious musical paths. Highly recommend.

Amazing school! the staff is very professional always made us feel comfortable and appreciated, my daughter took vocal lessons with Joanna she was great and made lessons fun, my daughter enjoyed working with her .this is a great school that puts great showcases that helps with the musical development of students, they have so much to offer to any one looking to learn or develop there skills.
