Excellent Food! The Fish Tacos are amazing, Saganaki was great, Whitefish Parmesan… Everything I’ve had has been great and the service/​atmosphere also. They have the best beer selection around and their dessert is spot on as well. You can’t go wrong with this place!

If your looking for a great spot to dine out in the Illinois Valley look no further. The uptown is
a true «diamond in the rough» with superior service, food, décor, and ambiance You cant go wrong! I’ve been dinning at the uptown for 30 year and in all that time I’ve never been disappointed!

Very nice venue with excellent meal and service. My wife was very pleased with the Prime Rib she ordered and the pork loin I had was prepared excellently with an interesting and very enjoyable sauce. The menu includes a wide variety of choices with a nice range of prices.

This was my third time eating here and it has been great everytime. Food and service is excellent.

Went in for appetizers and desserts. The appetizers were a disappointment. 1) Chips and Salsa– The salsa was bland, tasteless, lacking in any flavor or spice. Somehow it didn’t even taste like tomatoes. 2) Gorgonzola Chips~ok but nothing special 3) Tater Skins-~ok nothing special 4) Shrooms are deep fried mushrooms on a stick that are supposed to come with a horseradish sauce as described in the menu. I guess pure sour cream is a close enough substitution to the kitchen staff, was very disappointing. Desserts were better. We had the 1) Chocolate Lava Cake 2) Peanut butter chocolate pie and 3) Chocolate Chip Cooking with ice cream. The cooking was rock hard, I think it had maybe came out of the cooler before dropping it on the plate. After paying $ 80ish (including 3 sodas) I felt I could have went to Applebee’s and it would have been as good or better food and would have cost less.

Stopped in during the long drive through Illinois for lunch. It’s not near the highway but follow the signs, it’s worth it. Beautifully decorated.
Started with the French onion soup. Wow. Excellent. Bread basket came with our lunch. Very good.
Then came the mescaline salad. Extremely fresh and delicious fig. I had the grilled Portabello mushrooms on top. It would have been perfect except they were burnt and tasted like ash. Luckily I could scrape off off that part and it was very good. (Almost gave 4 stars because of this but the whole experience was 5 star.)
Great server, very helpful and friendly. We will definitely be back when we are in the area again.

My daughter treated me to dinner at the Downtown Grill. It is across the street from my friend’s favorite quilt shop. The wait staff is well trained, made some good suggestions, helped with the electronic menu, and presented each dish with a little description. We didn’t need a reservation, but we were there on a Tuesday at 5:00 p. I had grilled shrimp, baked potato, toss salad with creamy Gorgonzola dressing, complementary crab Rangoon appetizer, a glass of Chardonnay, and we split the ice cream 3 ways. The electronic menu was easy to use and made it fun to plan your dinner.
A great dinner, a lovely choice. Some evenings have live entertainment. The restaurant bakes its own bread. We had sourdough and a Herb cheese bread. We should have bought a loaf of the latter.
It was a perfect setting to share a meal with those you love. Not noisy, but when we were leaving I noticed the restaurant was full and there were the sounds of conversation coming from the bar area.

Yummy yum yums!!! Nice place good prices and food just melts in your mouth. I would definitely bring any out of town er to this place for a good experience!

Have the best food and service in the town. The interior has been renewed and it looks nice! The iPad menu help you choose what you want more easier.

Ambiance was serene and calm. Dimmed lighting set the mood. Ordered the Prime Ribe… Fiancé saw me cry because the meat was so good. Highly recommended. Price meets the quality.

Uptown never lets me down. Currently there are some renovations going on in one of the dinning rooms (bathrooms are already renovated — looks great!), so due to limited indoor space, my girlfriend and I sat outside. Luckily it was a warm evening and LaSalle is surely picking itself up (I believe in LaSalle) and so we didn’t mind being outside.
I ordered the prime rib. This was definitely the best piece of meat I have ever consumed. So tender and juicy, I savored all 16oz. My girlfriend ordered to sole, also amazing. We finished dinner off with a the tiramisu; quite a delicious desert.
I highly recommend!

After a hot humid day in the park we showered up at the hotel and headed over for a late meal. We chose to sit on the screened patio and the night was just perfect. Our waitress was very nice but said in all her years there nobody has redeemed a Unilocal offer. We can do better Unilocalers.
What a chef they must have in their kitchen. We had the Crab Rangoon appetizer. My wife ordered the Parmesan Whitefish and I got the nightly special of Steak Diane with mashed potatoes on the side. We also ordered the gelato trio with vanilla, double chocolate and mint chip. My wife who doesn’t usually like mushrooms or gravy enjoyed both on the steak and the potatoes. Excellent. Every bite was just awesome and the gelato finished off the best meal we have had in a while perfectly.

I had the fish taco special and it was very good. We sat on the patio which was screened in and the fans were going which was nice. This is my second time here and I enjoyed the food. I would recommend coming here and will be back in the future.

First off, we made a reservation online (which is fantastic because not many restaurants around here utilize that technology — saved me from making a phone call and having to interact with a person, so hooray!) When we arrived, we were seated outside, which they have a great patio and outdoor area.
We ordered a round of drinks and had the salmon nachos and the mussels as appetizers and they were spectacular! Everyone ordered filets and they were cooked as we ordered (perfect medium), and I had the Yukon gold mashed potatoes and they were very good. Everything was hot and delicious. Two people ordered dessert and they said they were very good.
Overall, very good experience and I will definitely be going back!

This place gets five stars considering its peer set in the area. Clean and classy atmosphere. Tablet menus. Service was prompt and friendly.
The endive and smoked shrimp salad was quite good, but couldn’t taste any smoke in the dish at all. Broiled whitefish entrée was as good as advertised.
Sautéed carrots and zucchini were more oily than necessary, so stick with the steamed veg instead. Strangely, French Fries on the other hand weren’t greasy at all.
Glad this place is open on Mondays, as very few decent restaurants in this area are.

Uptown grill and restaurant is an amazing place to go the atmosphere inside is very personal comfortable but a little too dark for me. Sitting out side. great area nice breeze lovely flowers all around great atmosphere. even better is a summer rain came on while we were eating. the dishes are served nicely to the customers. I like they have their menu on electronic tablet which allows you to look at what you going to eat and see a visual imagery of it this is a great feature to have and it makes a lot easier decided what to have for dinner. However I highly highly recommend coming in for an early lunch or late lunch choosing the artisan cheese platter with a glass of red wine or bottle excellent choice.

I was in from Chicago and wanted to fine a nice meal after a long hike at Starved Rock, however all the places in the area were kinda the same… either a family diner or a hotdog/​burger joint, but then I stumbled upon this gem.
They’re service was GREAT! Super friendly and they answered my questions well.
This place stands out with their lovely outdoor seating and neat electronic menus! The menus make the place unique and even give you pictures of the meals which brings me to my next observation… the meals look the same in person as they do in the pictures!!!
okay okay, onto the food… it was splendid! Ive never had mashed potatoes with a mushroom based gravy and let me tell you, I was not disappointed. Then came my black bean veggie burger and honestly it is super rare for me to find a veggie burger I like but I was tempted to order a second one to bring home with me!
The ONLY reason its not a ⁵⁄₅ is because toward the end I waited for my check longer then I feel was needed to just hand someone a piece of paper. It WAS getting busy around that time so its understandable. Everything else was so good I didn’t let it taint my opinion of this place.

Best restaurant in the area by far!
Ordered a new martini «Pretty in Pink» it was heaven. Chicken parma and Gorgonzola topped tenderloins are to die for.

Our first time here after Eagle watching. Kids menu and some unique burgers too! I had a Mac burger macaroni and cheese and grilled onions with home made chips so yummy.
My son loved the kids spaghetti bolognese and he’s 10. Great bread and great atmosphere.
