Best gym I’ve ever been a member of. Fantastic, non-monotonous classes that will kick your butt. Up to date equipment and friendly staff. It’s more than a gym, it really is a club. There’s Camille’s Sidewalk Café inside, a great hair and nail salon, child care, and even massage services. My favorites are the small things like clean towels so you don’t have to bring them from home and all the toiletries in the locker room in case you forgot something.

I’ve been a member since January. The staff is one of the best parts of the gym. Always friendly, and they know you by name. The gym, the weights, the locker room and the fitness rooms are always clean. Just be careful coming during busy hours, parking becomes sparce, and towels become a treasure.

I’m visiting Lafayette for a few days and was hoping to stop in and use the gym. Unfortunately, no daily membership option at this gym. I have to agree with an earlier reviewer… Seems like management is making a number of bad decisions. I have an out of state drivers license… Why exactly would you turn someone away who wants to give you some business? I travel a lot and this is the first gym to turn me away. They also couldn’t recommend another gym in the area. No help at all. If you are looking… Try PlanetFitness which is nearby. Even if you don’t need a daily membership, imagine what other unnecessary rules this group might insist on if you do sign yourself up for a longer term membership.

If I hadn’t moved I would likely still belong to this gym. I do wish they had different price structures for services though. I only used weights and cardio equipment. They include so much more which is why the price is a lot higher. Overall great gym though.

Great HEALTHCLUB(This is not just a gym). I am paying more for it than I have other gyms in the past but it is well worth it. I took advantage of the unlimited personal training group classes and that has been the best decision I have ever made. The personal trainers are very knowledgeable and they genuinely care. I am sore all week from my workouts and I am and experienced fitness enthusiast. The facility is well stocked with towels, sanitizer and paper towels. Amenities: * Indoor and Outdoor Pool(the outdoor pool is nice in the summer; especially with a bucket of beer!) * Café * Beauty Shop * Professional Message * Basketball Court(but it may have group fitness classes in it so check the schedule) * Free weights * Track * Work-out Machines * Stretch Rack * 3 fitness studios * Seasonally fresh vegetables are for sale at the counter. * Driving Range

I was really excited to join Club New Tone. Based on the website and Facebook page, it was exactly what I was looking for. I was looking for the«frills». I wanted the classes, the smoothies, the café, the nice locker rooms, and the pool, AND I was willing to pay for it. The fact that it was close to my place was even more of a plus. After reviewing the website, I decided to call for info and called during the posted membership hours. She explains to me that they do not giving pricing information over the phone and that I would need to physically come in and speak to a membership adviser. «It’s against employee policy to give me the PRICE???», I asked. Then she explained to me that regardless, she was not a membership adviser and she did not know the prices of memberships anyway. She works the front desk and doesn’t know how much it cost to join? I give her the benefit of the doubt and ask to speak to a membership adviser, so she pauses, checks, and explains that they are currently assisting someone. She again explains that if I wanted pricing information I would need to come in in person and speak to a membership adviser. Again I ask, «I need to come in just to hear the PRICE???», and she responds with a yes. Annoyed, but after hearing that there is a membership adviser there helping someone and seeing as it was still within membership adviser hours posted on the website, I stick my feet in my shoes and head over. I am pleasantly greeted and offered a tour. AGAIN, I inquire about membership fees and she explains to me that the membership adviser is out sick today(20 min ago I was told she was helping someone… but ok). She explains that since she is not a membership adviser, she cannot sign me up OR give me pricing, but she can give me a tour. I ask if there was a brochure or packet I can take with me, she gives me one, but before I even open it scoffs«that doesn’t have prices in it either». Needless to say I passed on the tour and I will be taking my money elsewhere. I was really excited about this place and all the amenities at first glance, but at this point I would rather drive further and pay more than give this place any of my money!

BEST gym in terms of Facilities, WORST gym in terms of operations & customer service. Cons: Price is hefty & make sure to have the sales representative go through all of the ‘fine print’ in the contract before signing it. VERY difficult to cancel membership — especially if one moves out-of-state and/or is out of the state during when s/he desires to cancel. Pros: Facilities. Personal trainers are excellent. Tons of classes. Huge rooms & basketball court. Kids Club. Tons of cardio equipment, & free weights with a small track around. Salon inside, as well as a ‘smoothie’ bar. Best: Outdoor pool, with mini ‘kids pool,’ next door to indoor pool, and beer/wine/non-alcoholic beverage service. Taking all of that into consideration … If I didn’t have my grad student membership to the new Purdue CoRec, I would definitely spend my $ on this gym. Don’t waste your time or resources on other gym in the W. Lafayette/Lafayette area. Just my two cents.

I did not see this place prior to its renovation but I love it in its current state. It has great customer service, is always very clean, offers fun and challenging classes, and has plenty of options when it come to working out. The membership is comparable and the place has a spa like feel — instead a of just a cold equipment room ambiance(like some other places in town). All around it’s the best place in town.

I’ve actually had pretty good guest experiences at this club. The past three visits(a couple weeks long stay) were pretty good. Now this place has been renovated and expanded, I haven’t been back but plan to soon. My only disappointment is the lack of a steam room…

I worked out at Newtone for all 5 years I was at Purdue instead of going to the co-rec. It was well worth the monthly fee in the amount of time I saved. Going to the co-rec was at least a 2 hour adventure if you wanted to get a weight workout in because of the overcrowding. I was able to get in and out of Newtone in a half hour to 45 minutes. I loved the 24 hour access too. I wish my local gym had that for when I have bouts of insomnia.
