Incredible store with a broad range of vintage everything! So much to see. I was particularly impressed with the fine jewelry. Beautiful pieces at seemingly a fraction of what you’d pay in a jewelry or even department store. Every design and stone imaginable. It’s my «go to» place for birthdays, graduations and weddings. I highly recommend Collectors Choice!

This was the first time since I moved West from New England That I felt that I was in a real antique store. You know, stuff that is at least 100 years old, the legal definition of an antique. Of course not everything was that old but I did not see any of the junk that characterizes most CA antique stores. This got me pining for the 1853 house I had in NH. I did not bring anything home but only for lack of space. In particular there was a beautiful tall hand made dresser(check the dovetails to see if it is hand made) for $ 2,200 that I would have bought in a jiffy if I had a place to put it.

Today was my first time ever in Lafayette. We ate at a restaurant next-door and being a lover of antiques, I couldn’t wait to get into the store. The person who was there, Kathy, was super nice. I’m not sure if she was the owner or not, but she was super friendly and helpful. I looked around at everything because I just love these types of stores. They had two different Bakelite cases loaded with all kinds of jewelry and different types of Bakelite utensils. As I was turning the corner I just noticed something out of the corner of my eye. It was a set of Toby mugs that was Henry VIII and his six wives, all separate mugs and in miniature, about 3 inches tall each from Royal Doltoun. Being a collector of all things Royal and British, I felt I had to have these. The price was a little steep for me so I asked Kathy if she could contact the owner with my offer. She did contact the owner of these precious mugs and we struck a deal. Kathy bagged everything so nicely for me to get it back to my house. When I get the set organized in my cabinet, I will add a picture for Unilocal.Just love this store and will definitely be back!

I spent the day in Lafayette last week and wandered into this wonderful antique store. The quality and look of the antiques in there is just right for my aesthetic. Everything is extra special and beautifully displayed. The owner, Carl, is very knowledgeable and was a pleasure to chat with. Highly recommended

My mother was an avid collector of high quality Black memorabilia. And when she passed away recently I wanted to liquidate some of her collection. I took the items to Collector’s Choice Antiques. I was a bit concerned about a shop in downtown Lafayette, which isn’t known for its diversity. I was reassured when I met Kathy and Carl that my mother’s items were in good hands. They were very aware of the value(and importance) of Black memorabilia. Despite the fact that these collectibles are at times considered racist, Kathy and Carl, displayed them and sought to educate customers to their history and significant as a unique American art form. I really appreciate their care and concern for my mother’s collection.

Collectors Choice is an incredibly unique store where you can find one of a kind antiques, great vintage pieces and almost anything you can think of from jewelry to furniture. I could go on about all that there is to see and enjoy at this place but I won’t waste the time… just go check it out! I have bought and sold items with these folks and have gotten to know them pretty well and was surprised to see that they have taken some criticism over recent window displays. The pieces displayed relate to black folk art dating back to the 1920’s from a restaurant chain that was in operation at the time and as you can see in a couple of reviews here, really offended some people. By just walking past and looking in the window, I understand how it could have come across to anyone but I would like to share more of what I know about this story. The owners of this store are true collectors and very in touch with American History and the initial purpose of this display was to honor Black History month in February. If you do a search about people that collect this kind of stuff, you will find out that Oprah, Wesley Snipes, and many other big names have some of the largest amount of these kinds of antiques. The owners of Collectors Choice are kind, hard working people that welcome anyone in to their store, I wish that the passers by who wrote these reviews would have gone in to voice their concerns, they would have left with a better understanding of what it means. History doesn’t change and while some of it can be offensive to any race, gender, religious belief, etc… it is still History and it happens to be an enormous part of what this store is about. An unfortunate part of History is surrounded by how people have treated each other forever but in this case, the true message is to learn about what has happened in the past and don’t make the same mistakes going forward. Go visit this store and meet the people that operate it, they enjoy talking about what they do for a living and what it has meant to them.

I am blown away… I walked by this store the other day with my three biracial nieces to come across something I never thought they would have to witness or be exposed to. I know racism still exists, but to put it in your window for everyone else to see is a disgrace. Of course all three of them had questions from eight years of age to eighteen! I have lost a lot of respect for this store/owners and ask for them to remove these items from their store front.

As my fiancé and I were walking by looking through the storefronts, we stumbled upon this store. In the window as a display from street level, they have a ceramic head of a black face w/red lips saying«Coon Chicken Inn» and also ceramic figurines of black women dressed in watermelon outfits. As a person of African American decent I find this incredibly distasteful and very hurtful. This is disgusting and needs to be taken down immediately!!! Having an artifact that says coon on it in the display window is just as bad as calling a black person the ‘N’ word to their face! Thanks for taking us back 100 years! I wish I could give it less than 1 star!!!

I love this place. Been browsing since they opened. Excellent displays of so many different things. A great place to find that unusual perfect gift. Best Christmas display in Lafayette. Not to mention their open house in December. If you can’t find it they will take your name and call you if something comes in. Kathy and Karl are very nice and knowledgeable.

Quirky store in Lafayette, which fits in with all the other boutiques. I’ve been in a few times, and the stuff has never been quite to my taste, but the old pinball machines and other stuff are definitely worth a visit. They have some great furniture upstairs and various Americana. Finally, I really like their Christmas display with the toy train.
