When I moved to the Est Bay almost four years ago, I looked high and low for a stylist who could do highlights on dark blonde hair and a good layered cut (Oakland, Danville, Walnut Creek, etc.). After several bad and expensive experiences, like having my hair turn a dark ash blonde color, or having a balayage that looked like mismatched layers, or having choppy layers, I found Martha at Flare de Hair based on other Unilocal reviews. She knows exactly what she is doing. She uses European products that leave my hair soft and shiny. The cut lasts for weeks and layers blend naturally. The highlights are perfect and have never turned brassy. In addition, the salon is cute, with easy parking in a historic forge building. Martha is a real professional, in addition to being a nice person, and I have never been disappointed.

Martha is so sweet I completely trust her with my hair. I have long hair so sometimes it is nerve racking getting it cut, but Martha knows what she is doing. I always come in with pictures of how I want my cut to look and she makes sure that I’m happy each step of the way!

I absolutely love this salon! Pam is my stylist and she definitely listens to what I want to do with my hair and is one of the best stylists and color expert I know! The salon itself is cute and always clean and has music and tea to offer. You won’t be disappointed!

I see Andrew Chan (followed him from Salon Bijou), and could not be happier with his eye for color and his expert cuts. I have very thick, voluminous hair, and so far, Andrew has been the best stylist for me! He’s skilled at cutting my hair with the grain of the wave and textuizing my hair without making it look texturized (know what I mean?). I highly recommend Andrew!

Martha is an artist and your hair is her canvas! She is amazing at hair styling. It had been years since I can honestly say I LOVE my haircut. I felt pampered in her spa inspired salon. Loved the personal touch, I am absolutely recommending her to all my friends!

I’ve been going to Martha for over 10 years. I have kinky curly hair and Martha knows exactly how to cut it. I got 2 Brazilian Blowouts from Martha last year, the second one lasted an entire year! Martha is the best at it, my hair was so straight I never even needed to blow-​dry it. I would highly recommended Martha for haircuts and a Brazilian Blowout!

I have been going to see Martha for almost 2 years when a friend referred me to her because I was looking for a new salon. When I go to get my hair done, it’s not just about my hair, but the experience. I like to be happy with the cut, the color of my hair, and feel comfortable and relaxed while I’m there. I always look to her for advice when I don’t know what to do with my hair. She is so personalized, I really feel taken care of when I go to get my hair done. When I started going to see Martha, I got so many compliments on my hair! I even had ones asking me who I went to see and if I didn’t mind if they got a similar style. Martha is the best!

The staff is incredibly warm and the quality is unparalleled. We’ve been seeing Martha for years and have never been disappointed. Her new location is clean, spacious & comfortable with plenty of parking. Every time my wife comes home from Martha’s salon, she has a little more pep in her step and more flare in her hair…

I have been going to Martha for at least 15 years. Her salon is beautiful and relaxing. I see her every six weeks to have my hair color. I also have had the Brazilian Blowout done three times in the last year. I love the results! Her new location is great and parking is never a problem!

Martha is great at what she does. I have followed her for 10 years or more and was delighted when she set up her own shop a few years back. She has cut, colored, and styled my hair in many different ways and I always feel like I can trust her suggestions.
What’s more, she is a really nice person. (When I had cancer last year, she even came to my house to shave my head when the chemo made it all start to fall out!)
Her new location is beautiful, tranquil, and makes me feel like I’ve been to the spa.

Let me start off by saying that while I visit Unilocal often, I don’t usually review myself. It’s mostly for selfish reasons but in this case, I feel that I should share the wealth. I highly recommend Martha and hope to be her customer for years to come. I first saw her for a Brazilian Blowout and ended up switching salons because I loved how much she styled my hair. I’d had a couple of cuts I wasn’t happy with and at a consult she actually cut into my hair just to make it more manageable until my appt with her… for free! I came in with brassy highlights and choppy layers and I left with beautiful color and a haircut that «flows» as Martha puts it. Wonderful communication, the salon itself is cute and clean and Martha and Teddy are so sweet. 3 words, «Go see Martha»! I wish she could do my hair everyday!

I have been coming to Martha for over 20 years. I have left several times to try other stylists, but have always returned because she is really great at what she does! She really knows my hair texture and even my weird lump at the base of my head that makes my hair stick up when it’s short! I recently had the new Brazilian Blowout and I absolutely love it! I had tried another stylist before because Martha wasn’t certified yet, but Martha’s technique was by far superior! It has been over 3 months and my hair is still silky smooth.
My whole family goes to Martha for haircuts. My husband will never trust anyone else for his hair!
I recommend her to anyone that wants to not only have a great hair style, but also have a relaxing, pampering experience.

I agree with Christy although I’ve only gone a couple of times. Martha is wonderful at what she does. When I go back to Cali in March, I definately will make an appointment. I hope she’s not booked cause she is in high demand. If you’re looking for a great stylist, Martha is the person you want.

I have been getting my hair cut by Jill Guadarrama-​Dana for many years at various locations. She is without a doubt, the best stylist because she really listens to you and she actually looks at your hair before she cuts it.
When I first went to see her, I’m estimating 12 years ago, I was growing out a very bad shorter cut and wanted to go shorter in a very specific style. She did her best to give me what I wanted even though it wasn’t easy to make my thick straight hair behave. But she gave me waves for the first time in my life.
I gradually grew my hair out, like I always do after some experimentation and now she always makes me smile as she champions my now grey/​brown long thick hair. I really appreciate the way she never tries to talk me into anything, she never takes off more inches than I ask for and she is capable of intelligent conversation.
Jill is not cheap but she is one of the few stylists I have returned to for this many years.
