My wife likes it. HuHot is a chain of American-style Mongolian Grill. The atmosphere is nice, and the grill cooks are efficient and entertaining with their bad jokes. The menu is more Asian-inspired than Asian authentic. The appetizers are standard Chinese light fare — egg rolls, crab rangoon, fried potstickers. The appetizers come with a sweet and sour sauce that has a heavy consistency but light in sweetness. It was very good. My wife licked the bowl clean. As in all Mongolian BBQ-type places, you have an array of meats and vegetables to choose from. There is also a huge number of sauces and oils to flavor your selections. There are some suggestions on how to use the flavorings, but for the first time diner it can be intimidating. HuHot also has a number of their own blends to use. You also get a choice of soup or salad. We had the egg drop soup, and I wasn’t impressed. The egg was mostly just minced strands, and the broth didn’t have much flavor. We were supposed to get rice, but it never materialized. Our server was pretty busy, though, so I can forgive that transgression. What I found amazing was the number of Asian international students that eat here. There are much better and less expensive Asian restaurants that are closer to campus. I have been hearing that Chinese are starting to prefer American-style Chinese because it is more flavorful. If you get a dessert, get the cheesecake rangoon. Not very Asian, but very delicious. My wife loves them. If you’re looking for an authentic Mongolian BBQ, HuHot is not it. If you’re looking for a fun place with a nice atmosphere, HuHot works. It is a bit pricy, at $ 45 for two adults with two sodas and sharing an appetizer for dinner. Lunch prices are a bit less. Bonus star for having the Coke Freestyle machine.

Been to this location several times and have never been disappointed. Really enjoy the egg drop soup, very light broth. Also like they have have the soda machine with all the different flavor options. Would definitely recommend if you like interactive meals.

I really like this place. They have one of the Coke machines that gives you just about any flavor you would like. The people there and the whole atmosphere is pretty chill. Try using the chopsticks. If you want a place to practice, this is a good spot to try.

$ 10 for all you can eat? Yes please. Super good deal and the food is good. I do wish that there is a one bowl option. There are three different noodle options and a lot of sauces to choose from. The sauces have calorie information listed on it.

I love this place and used to go there every other day! But now it is way to busy so I don’t go anymore. The good is spectacular but the lines are just to long. I also shit myself after I ate here

Where do I even start with this one? We went there this past Saturday night right before 8:00 pm. The place was still busy but not packed by any means. Hostess took us into a lonely and smelly corner of the restaurant when we requested high chair for our toddler. There were two other empty tables and two floor vacuum charging right next to our table. From our table we could re trash all over the floor and seats that were empty on the main dining section. I never saw anyone trying to clean up the mess. Our waiter took a little while to come to us, which was fine by us since it takes us a little while to settle in the toddler and finally get to look at the menu, but he seemed frazzled and nearly caused another employee to fall as he tried to rush around so he could come to our table. Besides that he was a personable guy, he took the time to explain how their version of Mongolian BBQ worked and offered up some recipe suggestions which was great. So I go over to prepare my bowl and the area was clean, the frozen meat didn’t seem to have been there too long, the vegetables looked tasty, not a bad selection though they could use a little more variety in the meat department. When I go over to get my bowl prepared I was really turned off by the while experience. The cooks were talking amount themselves the whole time. One of them did greet me but only to complain that he was working. The grill area was wet and dirty and just very off putting. The area where you wait for your bowl was also wet and dirty and not once did I see anyone trying to mop the area to make it safer to the patrons. The cooks were so unorganized that the started confusing then order of the bowls which caused my bowl and the one for the gentleman next to me to be over done. Upon returning to the table we had rice served which was clumped and cold and looked weird. It was great that my under three toddler could eat for free and he did enjoy the noodles and the chicken. We also ordered a side of popstickers and those were not too shabby. Overall I wouldn’t go back. Even a hole on a wall dove type of place is cleaner than this sit down restaurant. I urge their management to address this ASAP, as the Mongolian BBQ itself wasn’t bad.

First I want to say that we had very helpful, friendly service. The food was great and it was a lot of fun trying different combinations. The cooks did a great job of making it a fun experience but also cooked the food quickly. This would be a great experience with a group but not a nice relaxing romantic environment.

Good Mongolian grill. However, I do wish there was an option for just one bowl or walk through rather than the all-you-can-eat style. I like the different flavor combinations that they make available and recommendations. The servers and chefs are always friendly and on my first visit, the server walked me through how to put my meal together. That also have a rewards card but you have to ask the server for one.

While there is nothing spectacular about this place, I am rating it highly cuz if you like mongolian grills and if you are in Lafayette, then it is your only choice. The sauce/meat bar isn’t too bad and the staff is friendly. The dessert menu is good. Warm sake is a plus!

Food is great and the kids enjoyed watching their food being prepared :) And I very much appreciate it when our server was kind enough to note it down when i told her that my daughter is allergic to eggs .She informed the guy who’ll cook our food & he took the time to really wash & clean up his area before he prepares our order. Having kids with allegies, this effort is just nice !

Just a decent mongolian BBQ place and very Americanized so if you have gone to a real one you will be a little disappointed. The food was fresh and the service was good. Not really my cup of tea so I don’t think I’ll be coming back for more.

Walked in to a half empty restaurant on a Saturday night and were told we would have to wait 15 minutes. There were literally 10 – 12 tables open. If you can’t even seat us in a timely fashion, how can you serve us well? We left without eating. Unimpressed.

Chaos. I didn’t expect to find any«ethnic food» in Lafayette, and HuHot made sure that assumption was correct. Least Asian faux-Asian restaurant ever. Keith Haring would be proud of the«Mongolian» artwork his style must have inspired. Featureless humans forms were getting down with the boogie beat on every wall. The cooks were dropping their spatulas and without fail, every time one of their twirly tricks went awry, it was my food that got shrapneled out into other peoples’ food on the grill. The servers were spilling stuff on the table as they went by and my table-mate had an entire glass of water shlorped across his food just as he sat down. The water quickly invaded the airspace beneath the table and my shoes right after. After another waiter just stared blankly at the bowl of soup he was holding as it spilled beside me, I gave up expecting anything but to escape with my life.

I see a lot of people reviewing this place and just trying to compare it to BD’s which it is not. Unlike a lot of reviewers I have had good experiences here. Your order usually comes with soup or salad. I prefer the egg drop soup. I have always had good service and a speedy waitress at this location. My only complaint would be I wish they had eggs to mix in with your meal as it cooked. If you have 4 people the s’more platter is worth checking out. Grill your own s’mores right at your table. I am also glad to see this business supports Unilocal as I received 25% off my bill for checking in here in Unilocal during a special they ran.

Have been to HuHot 5 times since they opened, and really enjoy the atmosphere and décor. My first experience with mongolian bbq, and I think it is fun. Enjoy the Black Thai Peanut sauce the best. Unfortunately it is not as good as it was when it first opened… new management staff or something. Still recommend.

I didn’t enjoy the food or the experience. The food was poor quality, according to my taste. Most of the ingredients on the bar were frozen, and the sauces had that chemical, mass-produced taste(and after-taste, that lasted for hours). The rice was horrible, probably some frozen rice that hadn’t been properly reconstituted, so the grains were hard and undercooked. The experience can be fun for some, but I do not enjoy standing in line after every few bites of food. The bowls are very small, so you eat a few bites, and stand in line again waiting for the food to be cooked. My husband and I are vegetarian, so every time they would cook our food on the grill, they would take a lot of care to clean it first. That was very nice of them, but I did not enjoy feeling«special» and slowing down the line. Luckily, it was not crowded that evening. The service was good, everybody at the Lafayette location was nice, attentive, and hard working.
